Crap first half but better second and hit the post twice. As somebody above mentioned, it’s an extra game off Scales suspension. Scales has been a huge miss. Beestin will be back training next week too, so we’ll be ok.
Whitehall was poor today but he’s been top drawer for the most part this season so I’ll let him off !
get out of my club
Your no fan of this club. How can a true fan gloat when the club is in the predicament it’s in ?
Unsure whether your one of Badapple’s warped creations, A Grimsby fan who’s taking the piss or somebody who Hilton’s wronged from way back. I don’t think one poster on this forum in their right mind would describe you as an ACTUAL fan of the club.
Well done for being right though. I suppose you deserve that much.

They’re on odd lot and reflective of the online character who set it up, but posts
like this might not help.
It’s badly moderated , the personal abuse is all still there from Monday and being added to.That sounds like our old fans forum !
The wage bill will be huge. I’d imagine we are continuing to operate at a significant loss. Our home gates of 3.5k will be nowhere near enough.
When you factor in the amount of debt the club needs to service and the real possibility we will be homeless in 6 months- it’s a pretty dire situation to be in.
Unless anyone can suggest otherwise- I don’t believe the current board members will have the liquidity to keep us afloat.
If he walks- we are gone.
This is the the major problem we’ll face. I get that Hilton can’t still be chairman but it’s funding the club until we find somebody else which is going to be the major problem.
This is what’s worrying me the most. All well and good people wanting Hilton out a.s.a.p but then what ?
It never was, and never will be, Swann or Hilton. There are alternatives – if we look for them
What you need to start realising is we need money to keep us going as a club until suitable person or persons are found. If Hilton resigns and takes his money with him and there won’t be the money “which there won’t be” in the coffers to keep the club going until anybody is found……then what ?
I understand there will be other people out there but the process takes time, time which we won’t have !
He’s a bad man, Deerey I get it. Thing is without him we wouldn’t have a club to even watch in NLN and when he resigns and nobody else stumps up the money required we then cease to exist as Scunthorpe United as we know it.
People can shout from the roof tops that Hilton should move on ASAP but I hope to god there’s a person or persons with the money needed to keep us going.
You honestly believe that?
Yes. Sadly I do. A certain few on here keep posing the question “well, you can’t want Hilton at the club” and when it’s put forward that we could go out of business they completely gloss over the potential ramifications and then trot out “Hilton can’t still be chairman” so clearly don’t give a toss.
There are certain posters who rank being right about Hilton as being more important than him resigning and us being in deep, deep shite.
Well done for those looking likely of being right in regards to Hilton but I just want us to have a club to support. If nobody stumps up the cash we’re royally screwed.
Elliott and Sharp
They tried before and simply didn’t have the funds required. I suppose those two could stump up some money and the directors could add to the coffers.
Now, whether they would then have enough is anybody’s guess.
Scunthorpe still has a football club
btw if he goes n the club folds would you shed a tear ???
Some on here wouldn’t batter an eyelid if the club went under. A select few ranks Hilton resigning as more a success than the alternative, Hilton resigning and nobody else coming in with money to buy the club and then ceasing to exist.
They clearly know the club could well and truly go out of business but clearly don’t care.

Thing is barton without Clunan and now scales missing we don’t move the move around quick enough. Those two are huge misses.

Ok I suppose. The young lad from Leeds, Jack Jenkins added more. Scales is a huge miss to this team, you could see that in today’s performance.

Abandoned according to Dean so now waiting on a ruling to see if the result stands or if it’s to be replayed. A panel decides that. The penalty Elliot took was a joke, you could hardly see the ball and it was sat quarter way up in water.
That ref today was an absolute joker. Poor today but Buxton were absolute shithouses. Dean said that he watched the penalty back which Shrimpton was carded for and he saw their player throwing himself to the floor under no contact and said as he hit the deck he started squealing.
The officials at this level for the most part are shocking. You get a yellow card in this league for Torpey elbowing a CB in the face and get a penalty for that crap they pulled.
Andy Keown, I’m guessing that’s Martin’s son ?
Roberts 2/3 months out and Clunan 5 weeks. I’ve see the Dean pre match interview and it appears that Roberts has been wronged by some shoddy so called “specialists”.
It’s just our luck the so called “specialist” didn’t spot on the x ray that he needed surgery right from the off. Poor sod has spent the last 6 weeks rehabbing and he was always going to break down.
Good luck to him getting back fit. This gives Smith and Jenkins chances now so fingers crossed they grasp them.

Well done to Jimmy. I thought we signed a complete ringer when we signed Jimmy but to be fair to him, now he has his own players in and had some time with them they’re playing some top football at times.
* back onside from an offside position *
Regarding Ogle, if he keeps making cock ups I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Barrows getting a chance upon his arrival. Only went on a 3 month loan to get fitness levels up and as he’s getting plenty of minutes he’ll be up to speed when he gets back.
I think he had a fairly serious injury last season and was out for a fairly long time.
Looking at the picture ogle is playing him on! But if you look at the video I think he comes back onside from an offside position before making the run which is clearly on by then, if that makes sense
You are allowed to come back onside from an onside position because your deemed as not active, as you’re not effecting the play. The moment you make a run to get on to a ball you then become active, so if he bent that run from an onside position it’s perfectly legal.
Ogle was playing him on, you can tell that with the picture a few posts above as their striker arcs his run from behind Ogle.
Not quite sure what’s going on with Ogle of late in all fairness. That was lazy of Ogle not keeping up with the CB’s, as a poster stated above, he was in his own little dream world.

I’ll go for 2-1 to us. Elliot and Wilson scoring.
wasn’t too impressive at the back end of last season, was he?
None of them were as the team was a mess back then. Another target man in the club isn’t too much of a bad thing. Loads of experience and not past it at 32 yrs old. Relatively risk free signing until the end of the season.
Cox talks as if he used to be a tactical genius during his stint as a manager. I wonder if he’s forgotten what we all saw during his tenure ?
One of the most clueless managers we’ve ever had.

Makes sense as he will be direct back up to Whitehall. If the signing means Elliot isn’t ever played as a lone striker again, I’m all for it. Bennett’s been training for 2 weeks so must have seen something in him.
I wasn’t overly impressed by him when he was last here but he did look good in patches. Hard to judge him though on that as the team around him was so bad. Now he’s here on a perm deal with much better players around him, we may see a better version.
Dean prefers playing with a lone target man so makes sense to sign another of that ilk. Rance is now off the books which is an added bonus.
I think this is a pretty shrewd signing.
3-1 to us. They may be a good side at this level but we’re not really a team of this level. In pure ability we’re easy a top end national league side.
I know results aren’t gained on ability alone but I think we’ll have too much for them with 11 men on the pitch when we’re playing at home. Smith looks a player as well so no doubt he’ll be chomping at the bit to impress in front of the home fans.

If you believe Hilton has the financial clout to get the deal done, it should all be plain sailing
Why would it ?. Swann insists on getting 1.5mill upfront as he stated himself in a recent article. Hilton stated he found issues after going through it all more closely and found some things which needed sorting. Swann refused to sort the issues out, 1 being that unregistered strip of land.
I wouldn’t hand over 1.5mill upfront if the other party isn’t willing to sort said issues out, who in their right mind would ?

funnily enough wanted £1.5m before any searches (is what I have gleaned from various sources – but heavily caveated by this just being my opinion).
No that’s not just your opinion. A fan on twitter posted an exert from an interview Swann gave.
This is what he said….
“I have to stick with the 1.5mill upfront” Swann said. “I took a mortgage out for the majority of that used to support the club as I had no choice. I have to pay that off and that would be paid using the land”.
Hilton though after going over it more closely found issues and told Swann he wanted those clearing up before getting the initial 1.5mill but Swann declined and this is where we are.
Rance/Shrimpton/Pugh
Rance and Pugh simply aren’t the type of midfielders who can come in and replace Clunan. Those two are spoilers, not playmakers. Pugh is
good enough when you want him as a simplistic spoiler but not when it comes it dictating play.Shrimpton I suppose possibly could but he’s going to need a while to get up to speed and hasn’t got the required experienced to impact the team like Clunan does. Rance I agree should never have signed that extension though, I will give you that. I said the same at the time.
According to Jimmy Dean Clunan, roberts and law will be 2 weeks away and beestin 4-6 weeks. Clunan and Beestin are huge misses and I would argue Clunan’s even more of a miss because he get’s everything moving in midfield, without him it’s a bit slow and ponderous.
Shrimpton’s not the answer and Pugh and Rance are spoilers. I’d be tempted to get a loan in if possible or somebody in on a short term deal till January. Take Clunan out of the centre of the pitch and we evidently suffer.
Conditions were crap, ref was crap and we were too slow with the ball. I’m sure we’ll put this right Monday.
I wonder what the two main shit stirrers have to say to that news ?. Usually they can’t wait to rip the club/Hilton to shreds.

Actual United fans recognize this but a certain few aren’t really supporters “as such” as they just revel in causing disruption.
I think ironinsider needs help.
I hope he has a loved one to check in on him once in a while !
