I compared what I could but didn’t have time to look up all the turnovers and times when goals were scored.

Tamworth have the best defence in the league having conceded only 19 goals from 28 games.

Scunthorpe have the third best defence in the league having conceded only 23 goals from 27 games.

They’ve kept 14 clean sheets from 28 games.

Scunthorpe 13 clean sheets from 27 games

In 50% of their games the opponents have failed to score!

In 44.44% of Scunthorpe games the opponents have failed to score

They’ve kept 6 clean sheets away from home – 43%

Scunthorpe have kept 3 clean sheets away from home – 23%

Sept 9th to Oct 28th they kept 6 clean sheets on the bounce.

Dec 16th to Dec 30th Scunthorpe kept 4 clean sheets on the bounce.

    When do they concede goals?

    00-15 min = 3
    16-30 min = 0
    31-45 min = 2
    45+ min = 1

    46-60 min = 4
    61-75 min = 4
    76-90 min = 3
    90+ min = 2

They’ve conceded 6 (32%) goals in the first half of games and 13 (68%) in the second half of games.

    Defeats – 6

Scunthorpe defeats – 5 (from one less game)
    Their biggest defeat was 0-2.

    Scunthorpe biggest defeat 0-3
The other 5 defeats have been by a single goal.

Scunthorpe other 4 defeats by 2 goals three times and 1 goal once
    0-1 twice
    1-2 three times
3 defeats at home – 3 defeats away

    0-1 once

    0-2 twice

    1-3 once

1 defeat at home – 4 defeats away

They’ve only failed to score on four occasions. 3 away games – 1 home game.

Scunthorpe failed to score on 5 occasions. 4 away games – 1 home game.

    Turnovers:
W-W 16… they’ve won 16 of the games in which they scored first

    W-W = 16
    W-D = 1
    W-L = 1

    D-D (0-0) = 1

    L-L = 5
    L-D = 0
    L-W = 4
They went on to win 4 games in which the opposition scored first.

    Most frequent winning score:
    1-0 = 5
    2-1 = 4
    2-0 = 3
    4-0 = 3
    3-0 = 2
    4-1 = 2
    3-1 = 1

In 13 of their victories, they kept a clean sheet.

In 11 Scunthorpe victories, we kept a clean sheet.

In their remaining 7 victories, the opponents only scored 1 goal.

In our remaining 5 victories, the opponents only scored 1 goal.

No one has scored more than one goal against Tamworth when they have won.

No one has scored more than one goal against Scunthorpe when they have won.

    Squeaky bum time.

Put another way – Tamworth have lost at home to Alfreton, Scunthorpe, and Banbury.
Tamworth have lost away to Buxton, South Shields and Chester.

Rene, if you get time why not produce the same analysis for The Iron ? It would be interesting to see in stats not emotion how we compare.

As I said in the “8 points behind” thread ; Smiths gone, Butterfield out with concussion so that’s our 2 best players out of the current picture. Leading scorer (and chief shithouse) Whitehall is suspended. We ain’t got no money so any players that could come in as replacements like Pugh, Bennett, Carver and DSF are out on loan. The ones we’ve got like Wilson, Barrows, Kelly, Shrimpton and Beestin are not up to speed/coming back from injury. We are under a transfer embargo due to debts that still haven’t been repaid so we can’t sign anyone, or even reloan Smith.
Haven’t we just won 6, drawn 2 and lost one of the last 9 games ? Already people are bottling it.
I only came on here in the first place to moan about Dean last season but what he’s done since relegation has convinced me to support him this season.
The reality is the club is still being dug out of a deep hole and the fact that we are up there with a chance of promotion is a decent achievement so far (in my opinion). Im quite sure in an ideal world Dean would have kept Smith and probably had Bennett, who scored 2 for Southport last week, in reserve to replace Whitehall. But it is far from an ideal world, so I’ll do my bit which is turn up at home, cheer them on and stick some money in the pot.

Oh ye of little faith. Best player out injured, second best player gone back to Hearts, leading goalscorer suspended, numerous squad players farmed out on loan, It would have been more surprising if we’d won.
We are still in the brown stuff financially, evidenced by the transfer embargo and Roberts revealing he paid for his own operation.
There’s still 19 games to play. I will back the board, manager, coaches and players to give it a good shot and not start panicking yet.

Hopefully Pugh has a good game for them against Tamworth in Feb and does us a favour.

Come on Rene, first half on Saturday Boston hardly got a kick. Smiths first touch was a joy to watch and some of the football way above any expectations for this league. We let them off the hook, and paid the price for not getting a third goal but the season isn’t over yet, it’s one game against a decent Boston team. Hopefully back to winning ways at Brackley.

12 minutes Rene ? You young generation with your short attention spans !
They do go on to talk about their own personal journeys. Whitehall gets a mention when they talk about the dark arts of pro football.

I’m with awaywego on this one. He’s a shithouse, but he’s our shithouse.
That incident on Saturday was pathetic and both players should be embarrassed, but it was a yellow card each and in my opinion the ref overreacted.
We’ve got to get out of this horrible league first.

According to Dean, Smith had a blowout on his way back from Scotland and didn’t arrive at the ground until 1.15.
I presume it was a tyre.

First game the weather was a joke. Second game we were in a very bad place, I genuinely thought it could be my last time at GP. Yes, they beat us 3-0 in that game but one goal was a penalty for a foul that was 3 foot outside the area.
I think we owe them a reality check and hope we go do a professional job of beating them, then get on the bus, leave, and never play them ever again.

It looked like Jenkins, and Wilson, were having some kind of fitness test during the warm up before the game.

End of any point in you starting yet another thread about not liking Dean, his tactics or whether he should be manager. Under the circumstances, where weeks ago we have walked out of the stadium not knowing if we’d ever walk back in, the fact we are top of the league is surely enough for now. Whatever you think about Dean he does actually seem to care and has done what was expected this season, so far.

Not pretty at all but we’ve got to grit our teeth and get promoted. Dean was signed as we were supposedly already down last season and he would know how to get us back up. So far, so good he is on track. There’s a reason games at this level get generally less than a thousand fans.
As for Whitehall, I’m not his biggest fan but if he was playing for Warrington yesterday they would have won 3-1.

Played 20, won 12, drawn 4, lost 4, Goals for 41(best in league) , goals against 18 (5th least conceded), second in the league by 1 point to a team we’ve already beaten away. Be realistic.

We won. 3 more points towards the “get the hell out of this league” fund.
Warrington easily the best side we’ve faced here in the league and they had a good go.

WG, Max’s suicidal back pass was 2nd half, I said about something I saw first half half with Fitzsimons, if you actually read what I put.
The ref was shite and he was shite for them as well (yes they got away with more because they are a team of shithouse experts like all these teams and know better than us how bad the refs are !) my point was if Bentley thinks that ref is excellent then Bentley can think that as he came out of it with zero, zilch, nothing.

I thought they could have had a pen first half when Fitz went walkabout and their player got past him but I didn’t have a good view of what exactly happened. As Cliff Byrne’s Right Peg said Boyce clearly pushed their striker just over the halfway line and their assistant manager was berating the linesman over at least a couple of decisions. If Bentley is happy with that then fair enough ! Sums this league up.

Southport’s best chances were created by, yes you’ve guessed it.
    Us.
At times it was quite scary. A better team would have buried them.
Agree about the ref, did anyone get a card?

Scales got booked first half (actually correctly !!) and there was a yellow shown after that horror tackle in the last minute, I presume it was the offending player but it could have been for anything with that ref.
That was Clunans worse game so far, but it is all about the results – we have to get out of this shithouse league – and we did hit the woodwork twice so easily could have been 3.

Ref was terrible. He’d lost control by the end. If the game had gone on another minute there would have punches thrown as our lads had clearly had enough of it.

You would hope there is a clause preventing them from playing against us, but looking at the national league rules there doesn’t seem to be an overall rule preventing it.

I’ll be at work this weekend so can’t get to the darlo game but I’ll buy a ticket to support the club. I wish I could go as I think it’ll be a good game.
I hope we do well in this trophy. The club are trying to raise money – what better way than to stay in the competition and get extra revenue and prize money. A trip to Wembley would be good next year.
