If he wants a longer deal then he needs to negotiate. As with Cal Roberts he has to feel happy with his decision.

Cal said “the grass isn’t always greener” – and many have realised to late, yes would be a shame but such is life. Agree about Hartlepool – there does seem to be a sudden exodus.

Mr Butler will have an alternative if needs be.

What about the lad that was at Farsley at the end. On loan from somewhere and everyone rated him even after all the defeats.

1 Attack Mid, 1 [clunan like], a Mo Fadera type, Another keeper but we don’t know if Campbell will be 1st choice so perhaps a Prem Lge prospect season long loan.

But we may need more if others choose to move on.

When he joined us wasn’t he part time at Kings Lynn ? He is 31 he has to think what comes next and as a qualified accountant probably look to build up this side of his life again. Less travelling time would also added pressure.

Good luck to him, did what was wanted of him here and SUFC back into the National League.

That is a great amount to raise. When everyone joins the prediction league that will be a serious amount of sponsorship.

I think Braintree were formed 1 year after us and have always had the name ‘The Iron’ . Could be an interesting legal case ahead because wasn’t Scunthorpe United at one time known as ‘The Knuts’ before changing its name ?

If he deserves that then Kevin Sinfield should be placed in the House of Lords.

Will make payment in the usual way Matt. Will add a bit to the £15 – you decide where you want to place it.

Looking forward to it although I will admit my expectation of an IRON win in every game will cost me dear.

442 or 433 works for us, other derivations usually leaves it looking like 721 does not. We cannot afford the players with the technical ability to play such ways and our level management should stick to subbuteo for such visions.

Get a system for start of season and stick to it. No chuckle brother style and with players who can pass the ball. And see what happens.

A good keeper. Gave the defenders confidence knowing he could do his job and would.

RIP Mr Crawford. Sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues.

Look back over the years and for whatever reason the most successful formation on this pitch in claret & blue needs to be with a 4 across the back.

A 5 very quickly becomes ultra defensive and we become unable to get out of it, so don’t even risk it.

As regards negotiations Michelle did say that Mr Butler has his budget and he is in control – the only time she would get involved is when AB and player have agreed the terms and then she will check it and sign if acceptable.

Players do need to know what their role would be. No point having players who excite crowds if the manager intends boring opponents to death with tippy tappy rubbish.

If he start with 5 at the back he has learnt absolutely nothing.

Then the longer he plays it will determine how badly we will do.

Trinity have signed Jonny Margetts. That may make it difficult to retain Dec Howe with the budget Russ will have to work with.

If about 1/3rd did move on then I am sure we will have some replacements lined up.

Some say the football of the NL play offs was impressive and we could struggle then any replacements would surely be of a higher standard and that could be in technical ability or fitness/pace.

Hope we do move away from 1yr deals as prefer a settled squad that is easier to make the odd change. Certainly some hard decisions ahead for Mr Butler.

Iromfromafar – the Evans / Barnet link came from Evans in his interview pre-Chester. Said there had been enquiries but he was happy and settled here. Also felt there was a job to finish both for the club and for him, for the fans to see what he can do. Also said he wasn’t bothered in further interest.

Post match said this season is the 1st time he can go on holiday not worrying about having a job for the start of a following season – can you imagine how that must feel.

Who is actually under contract for next season do we know for sure?

Officially there wasn’t many. I think SCALES, EVANS and BECK. There are 5 others with no date shown BARROWS, DENTON, BROGAN, ROWLEY and FISHBURN. 11 out of contract June 2025. But seems we have options on 8 or 9 of the others from that total 16.

    I think 7/8 to leave.

Not as bad luck as Ramon Calliste we signed on a free transfer from Man United. Think we were playing Brigg in a pre season friendly and was on the end of a terrible tackle. Ended up suffering a double leg break and soon had to retire.

And a dislocated ankle ! That was the more serious injury as well.

I think at least 7/8 to go. I would keep Fin and make him the midfield stopper and coach the role into him. Are some of those others wish to keep fast enough for National League. Need to improve pace in the squad and that basic of skills – PASSING because it has been poor yet again.

As was John Barker’s “sticking your head in where it hurts” equaliser that put him in hospital.

I seem to remember travelling to Sheffield on a double-decker bus. Or is my senility kicking in?

That header by John Barker cost him dear – it cost him a transfer to Liverpool, deal was all ready for Monday signing.

At times attitude has cost us dear the play-offs being the result.

A division higher and I would not be confident with this leadership. We are still looking for a Head of Recruitment but based on signings during the season not sure that his position I would consider AB for. But as I do not make the decisions what will be will be !

But can only wish the best to all at the club for Sunday. Said before ‘Fortune Favours the Brave’ so got to go for it,

Has to be Barrie for me. It’s his birthday on the 19th. He was electric. A mention too for Terry Heath, what a player he was. UTWI

2 great picks there. Terry Heath would have run every game today, when he played The Iron did. RIP

Can I add ‘Pancho’ Cassidy – best header of a ball I have seen, so much flair. RIP

I think Fin plays to orders and as he gets limited chances here he doesn’t want to upset his manager when he does play.

If he is no worse than some here but out of contract why shouldn’t he get a new deal ?

Going to be a lot of clubs from the Premier to NLN / NLS looking starting with new managers.

Watford have just sacked Cleverley – their 20th in 12 yrs, now that really is a revolving door.

Why it has taken so long to sink in – for whatever reason for 442 has delivered more for us at home.
Just look at the spell when 352 0r 532 was inflicted on fans. This resulted in the playoffs.

Stick to what works and don’t get clever with the game plan. Carlton arrived with a niggling injury and then a system that didn’t suit was used. Now the system fits the players – playing to strengths works.

    Best for the final.

Shows little ambition. Should have done far better with what was at his disposal.
Fails to motivate playing staff to improve basics.

Overall poor performance should a change of career be considered.

Sniffer got promotion on the back of Duncan’s hard work.
Duncan would not have been sacked without his rumoured dalliance. Sacked immediately after losing to Grimsby (then in the second tier) in an cup replay.

Duncan better at building a team. He ultimately lost his job because when they lost Grimsby the chairman saw several players laughing as they left the field. He told Duncan he wanted them all out of the club and Duncan refused.

Mr Wraith had tried to get on the Leeds board and was turned down so he signed Mr Clarke hoping to prove Leeds wrong. It didn’t quite work !
