Tom will be gutted with what he did. Can only think he got frustrated with those about him who don’t care.

Even though from Sheffield he loves the club, I have seen him in Academy days have lumps kicked out of him and he has never retaliated.

Has to go. Admits that some of the players have quit and don’t care and that is why we lose yet picks the same group the following game ! Don’t pick them ! Put U18s or U16s even U15s in.

Or shame the non triers in a game. Even if you lose players to injury if there are 3 players visibly not interested sub them all at once not matter when in a match ! Earlier the better of course.

But Mr Dean is letting whoever get away with it while the fans suffer.

If we had actually developed our own as opposed to some of the Will Swann recruited dross I think we would have had more of a chance of staying up.

Up to Michael Nelson the managerial choices were very poor. Formations, tactics and repeatedly changing too many players game after game then you add square holes round pegs the plan worked a treat.

Said at the time hoped Nelson got the job until end of season but understood owners choice.

Now I do not understand why he is still there. How many players has he had the opportunity to use ! Still can’t settle a formation which should be 442. His pre and post interviews are so predictable and quite frankly boring.

To Rene Artois – I do believe when Lincoln City were non league their U18s and others had to raise their own funds, they got very little from City. So outside sponsorship would be fine by me. What league they would compete in I am not sure.

Been to The Sloop at Barton today for lunch. Their Steak & Ale Pie is the best I have ever had. If only they could supply Glanford Park. The gravy is to die for too. Magnificent scoff. UTWI

Just asking, was John B. there ?

In terms of redundancy cost, a lot will depend on how they employed the services of the academy staff.

It is common in sport for organisations to engage the services through a PSC (limited company), and give them yearly contracts through their limited company (I’ve worked that way for many years with England Athletics). If the academy staff were employed that way then there will be zero cost to the football club. If however, they are contracted employees of Scunthorpe United then undoubtedly there will be significant redundancy costs.

A few years ago a company in Hull used to end every contract after a year. Then gave them another 1 yr contract. This was done to disenfranchise them under employment laws, you needed 2 years to gain your rights.

Someone challenged it and at tribunal they won their case and the firm had no alternative but to accept they lost the loophole. Possibly same here if that is the way they operate.

The speed of the announcement and the unprofessional treatment of all in the Academy adds to concerns.

Totally agree Rene. Simon and Ian are the two to have taken over our Club. They could have bought our Club, the same as Hilton has done. They were told it had all to be sold as one, the club name, stadium and land. Hilton still hasn’t bought the stadium and land. It appears Swann is still pulling the strings.

They had no chance of buying the club. The EGO was scared they might succeed ! Supposedly one of the criteria demanded by the EGO was club protection – that worked out well.

The 1899 scheme came out too quick. It had been well thought through and basically the fans were paying off the owner. The person responsible for the clubs demise got rumbled.

The EGO never said goodbye, never gloated but most telling did not wish us good luck !

    Now you know why.

Said at the time of the ‘takeover’ that I hoped Nelson kept the job and allow HIM to bring in 2/3 players that HE wanted.

This about Dean sorting out the mess I disagree with Mr Nelson had brought a lot of stability, he had also worked out a system that started to deliver. Not earth shattering but fans did seem to like the way it was going. 17 matches to go was not the right time to bring someone who did not have the experience.

Apparently, anyone who criticises today’s performance need to get a grip and put things in perspective CT. Slippery slope that, if you ask me.

Tough, if they don’t like criticism then they are in the wrong jobs !

How many there thought the team backed off and offered nothing going forward ?
How many think we set up to deal with them ?

7 games left and Mr Dean reckons the club needs 4/5 wins to stay up – fans have a right to comment, criticize because they are spending hard earned money. It isn’t just the defeats it is the nature of it, this club used to fight for everything no matter who the opponent was. They didn’t give in, they didn’t get above their station. Now over complication is the name of the game.

Said at the time I hoped Mr Nelson would retain the job until the end of the season, see little reason to change my mind.

Take into account inflation and the need to have as a good a playing budget as possible seems fair.

If he has had all this experience then why have they let him out on loan ?

    Strange decision.

Some rate Whitehouse but do mention his lack of pace to get back, if Rance can do that job then it does strengthen options.

Then we have a 2023/24 option on him so looks like he is up to the challenge.

As several point out the recent signing glut seems to deliver much of what happened over previous seasons. Only Ben Everton-Richards seems to have worked out and the remaining ones look good for a level below !

My big concern now is that the manager is saying the next 9 matches are ‘must wins’ ! Every game since he arrived have been ‘MUST WINS’, then you see 1 striker at home. Continually changing the team and not building stability is a recipe for disaster.

Seems the plan may not have changed which raises the question has everyone who ‘went’ actually gone ?

Has to be 9 from 9. We have to go 442 and 2 wingers to feed the 2 strikers who must work 5 / 6 metres apart.

There must be minimal changes game to game and someone who has a clue does the substitutions. No set ups to deal with opponents. We set up and they have to cope with us.
