“We are the boys and girls well known as, the minors of the ABC….”
Me!

The Furnace Arms at the bottom end of High St used to open a 6am for change of shift too.
The newsstand at Britannia Corner on a Sunday morning.
Bands on a Saturday night. Baths Hall in winter, Berkeley in summer.
Suggs, S&G and Famous Army Stores.
Library on Market Hill.
Sergeant’s Ice Cream.
Thing is, everyone is right on this one, and therein lies the conundrum.
You ain’t gonna win masterchef if all you’ve got is a tin of baked beans and a white sliced loaf!

I’m surprised that people are surprised at Hill. In all of his interviews last season he was dull, boring & uninspiring. What made you think he’d change?
Blind optimism? Straw-clutching?

Not the sort of thread to entice anyone back really.
But someone has to be first.
Normally I’d say we must be a club “on the up”, as we can’t sink any lower.
But we all know we can.

Hope Gareth has an Über app on his phone!
I thought Swanny was the owner when it came to all things Scunthorpe.
Not according to UTI99. It’s the COO/CEO!
“Oh, bother! No topics were found here.”

Does the COO/CEO own the club?

Looked solid enough when he first arrived, but ended up another rabbit in the headlights.
Mind you I wouldn’t rate anyone based upon our last season. I’m sure that with decent players around him and a shrewd manager he could do a job.
Maybe it said “jaded one”!

Joey Dawson on a season long loan from Celtic?
D’ya reckon the boffins who put together that video could CGI us up a football team?
To play devil’s advocate on this, the club (or UTI99) are going to come back with: –
We are actively looking for buyers, but a) negotiations are ongoing so details cannot be divulged. b) the interested parties have not matched our asking price.
More likely however that the issues surrounding the ground/land ownership have muddied the waters.
I really have no idea whether the Swanns are serious about selling up or not. After all we’ve been given so many promises that have failed to materialise.
So I’m not sure if I want to hear the takeover latest. Not from the club at any rate!

The biggest team in the National League will be Oldham.
They were Premier League thirty years ago!
If anyone thinks we’ll be bringing in marquee signings this summer they need a reality check.
As I commented on the “two young centre-backs” thread, I don’t want to see anymore inexperienced 20 year olds in defence. So at 32 and with experience from L1 down to NL level I’ll happily take Boyce back.
If Hill could lure Delaney back full-time the two of them would be a decent enough CB pairing.
I think we need to prepare ourselves for a few more thirty-somethings and I expect to hear more groans than cheers as far as recruitment is concerned

In a way they have!

I think Levi was part of the squad that went down from L1.
My Bantam mate reckons he’s done okay for them this season.

But of late we’ve not been in anything other than a crisis situation.
Would have been great to have gradually introduced young players into a team that was performing reasonably well, but instead they have been thrown into the lion’s den.
For the past 3/4 years our plight has been anything but normal.

Agree with that Deerey.
Away travel is when you need some scran and a drink at the ground.
In which case it’s the opposition’s reputation not Scunny’s.
Hence the mention of Kidderminster et al.
A friend of mine regularly posts on Facebook.
Which butcher he got his sausages from. Which stream the dog was playing in. The cost of diesel at the BP garage. What beer is on tap in his local.
Loads of posts but nothing of interest to anyone but himself.
How many of “the most tweets in the world” have any relevance to our current plight?
(Don’t use Twitter, so asking for a friend)

Indeed.
My mate does it with Chester FC!
Hey! They’ve just launched a former players association. What more do you want?

World Cup semi-finalists. Euros finalists.
The FA aren’t going to replace him with those credentials.
Not getting out of the group stages in Qatar may change their minds, but who would they bring in to replace him?
Another “exciting” young English manager? Eddie Howe? Graham Potter? I doubt if they’d go down the foreigner route again.

They had the core of a decent NL squad. We don’t!
It will need a huge change in personnel from top to bottom if we’re to get anywhere near emulating them.

Unfair to call them loons BS.
At least they’re showing commitment, which is more than some at the club seem to be doing.
But yes, Hurst’s charges are able to give 120 minutes of effort whereas Cox’s lightweights could barely manage 60.
Disappointed we won’t be playing them next season, but hats off to them.
