Should have come in the home end with us CMC.
Plenty of space, bars, food outlets, picnic tables, people in claret & blue with happy, smiling faces. Instead of being shoe-horned into a third of a tiny stand behind one goal. I’ll be surprised if you don’t all come down with Covid!
Friendly copper let me park right opposite the turnstiles. 45 minutes drive home.
Pity about the result!

BS – “..and played without any effort or basic system what so ever.”
The effort was there but you are right about having no discernible system, hence the back four + keeper were the only ones with time on the ball.
Kgosi Ntlhe was having a right go at the guys in front of him, so at least he cared.
Was there with two “neutral” mates and both agreed Iron were the better footballers, but not the best team.
Unless we can magic up a modern day Clough & Taylor will continue to struggle.
Would that be Barratt Homes truths?

…some people believe biblical truth.
Medieval people?

Reckon it’s more of a parallel universe!
Didn’t play five at the back today.
Boyce and Ntlhe comfortable at CB, Ogle LB, Rowe RB until he went off then Ogle RB and O’Malley LB.
The problem was what was in front of them because the midfield were all over the place. Whitehouse looks to be unfit and carrying a bit of weight. Beestin and Gallimore got dragged all round the pitch and Wilson not playing as an out and out winger.
Lavery looked tired and Nuttall didn’t put himself about as much as the Shields #9.
Daniel should have been brought on sooner, but even then what was the game plan?
We need a proper management and coaching set up but under the present regime we know this is unlikely to happen. Prepare for further frustrations.

We will go down without signing a centre back. Probably need 2 in all honesty.
We will go down with signing a keeper- calling for foster as a replacement is ridiculous.
We need a set formation, and stick to it. It’s the national league FFS and we have players out of position every week. If they aren’t good enough do what every other side does and go 4-4-2.
Our youngsters won’t get us out of this mess- none have been good enough.
None of our youngsters blotted their copybook today. Gallimore looks much stronger than last year. Wilson showed skill and enterprise. Even Poulter put himself about when he came on.
That said there was not much evidence of a system or a game plan. This has to be down to management and coaching. So I would tend to agree that we need a complete clear out in this department.
We’ve always known we were a CB light (although Ntlhe did okay today) and we desperately need a commanding and experienced keeper.
So, yes. But nothing we didn’t know already.
51 years ago we lost to them at home, so slightly better I guess.
The standard at this level has improved immensely since 1971, unfortunately we are not adapting to it.
We DID perform for 90 minutes today, alas it was not the type of performance that was ever going to win the tie. Lots of possession, controlling much of the game, but zero creativity. We never looked like scoring.
I don’t know if it was the absence of Apter and Butterfield but we had absolutely no penetration. Ntlhe and Boyce must have had more touches than the other twenty players on the pitch put together. “Are you England in disguise?” Sprang to mind!
Someone has mentioned “no urgency”, and that pretty much sums up the difference between the two sides.
Thought Dewhurt could have done better with their goal although there was a nasty deflection, but another goal from a corner that should have been dealt with better.
Some very dejected and limping Iron players disappearing down the tunnel at the end.
This is a very steep learning curve and it looks like it’s going to be more than a one year course!

And let’s not forget she did a U-turn on that too. Remain to leave in the twinkling of an eye!
She’s done well to last longer than Bill Lambton!
You’re probably right Deerey. The same egos that make them believe then can do whatever they want once they’re in the big chair.
Do you not think these “leaders” are put forward as Aunt Sallys?
Pushed above the parapet to take the hits, whilst the rest sit safely in the dugout.
Ironically it’s also slang for “find the lady”.
The Lady IS for turning…
And Auntie Maggie will be turning in her grave!
Butterfield definitely out (7 day ruling on head injuries) and Apter and Pugh cup-tied.
Possibility of both Taft and Boyce missing too.
Not looking great!
Do we want to stay in the FA Cup or stay in the National League?
Answers on a postcard.

I see the ringmaster (mistress?) has sacked the clown because he wasn’t a competent juggler.
What a bloody circus!

Looks like The King may have seen through her too!
I completely disagree, NI. The irony is that if the EU was about economic strength, which at one time it was.
But I personally know three business owners who say Brexit has been a disaster for them.
My son works in the hospitality industry and my daughter for a fashion house and they say likewise.
Staffing, supply chains, import and export duties, new certification…..etc etc.
I also know a couple of people who work in Europe, one of whom was over here last week so I was able to talk to him.
Speaking with a guy who runs a Spanish Deli the other day. Asked why an item that used to be £5.95 was now £8.95. You’ll never guess what he told me!
I’m getting this from real people, not the gutter press.
And no one could tell me of any benefits that had come about as a result of Brexit either. So if anyone knows of some, please share.
No better and no worse than a string of inexperienced youngsters we had of late.
How many games did Bilson play? Whose bright idea was it play Foster against a team that needed a cricket score for a chance of automatic promotion?
Fine having young keepers for back-up, but putting them in a team on a downward spiral, low on confidence with nervy defenders is tantamount to suicidal.

Thanks for all the info NI, Heworth any good for drinking?
The Swan opposite the interchange car park was okay the last time I was in.
If you’re getting on the Metro at Newcastle Central Station there’s better options there. Head of Steam is good. Centurion Bar at the station is pretty spectacular.

Metro is running to Pelaw, but Heworth Interchange is your best bet for replacement buses.
The problem you’ve got is that the current ground isn’t in South Shields (if like me you went to that tie fifty years ago it’s a different venue), it’s in the middle of Bede Trading Estate between Shields and Jarrow. My mate reckons you’ll find a parking spot somewhere near. One of the guys I’m going with has a disabled parking badge, so that’s what we’ll be doing.
Always a risk starting the season without an experienced custodian, particularly with a back four that has regularly looked shaky.
Today’s result underlines the problem we have defending a lead. It’s becoming a serious issue.
But it’s all some people have got!
“However, I chose to leave because I wasn’t happy with the way the EU wanted to put more power into the hands of unelected bureaucrats. Economics didn’t come into it”
Bloody Hell! It should have done.
It’s knackered more small businesses than Covid and Putin put together.

I don’t think it’s as black and white as that NI. There are conflicting interests at play. It may be that simple for some, others not so.
Which is why I said it ain’t gonna happen.
Human nature to want to know the answers to questions. And human nature to boo the pantomime villain too!
Can’t see a point per game being enough to keep us out the bottom four.
Need to start winning games pdq.
The alternative is that supporters forget all about our off-field plight and just turn up to cheer on the boys regardless.
It’s what some on here (and recently departed) want but it ain’t going to happen!

The two goals at Oldham were gifted to us.
If it wasn’t for their penalty I’d have said our luck may be changing too.
That assumes the manager knows what he’s doing.
The manager doesn’t even know if he IS the manager or not. Nor how long he’s in the job.
Another Swann-made mess!
