Just happened to?
Brassy said “I wander”!
Everyone’s mind is wandering around at the moment.
Another sixteen to go if we’re going to match Southend!
Just wait till the next bloke takes over!

January 22, 2023 at 12:11 am in reply to: Just Giving – Crowd Funding – Go Fund Me – Iron Bru – Phoenix Club #253591If I had the time and lived close to Scunthorpe I’d happily have taken this on, but I don’t.
Yeah, of course you would!
What will? The Bromley game?
No chance of getting the points we so desperately need either!
Today’s newsletter for those who aren’t members:
In our newsletter to Trust members on Friday 13th January the Trust, as a responsible organisation, stated that it could not condone protests which break the law.
By and large the pitch protest was peaceful; however we were concerned that fellow supporters could receive banning orders affecting their future employment and foreign travel. The Iron Trust supports peaceful protest over the plight of our club, but we do not wish to see fellow supporters incur fines and/or banning orders. Their vocal support and loyalty are to be applauded given the on and off field problems of our beloved club.
At this, the lowest point in the entire history of Scunthorpe United FC, we are also concerned about potential point deductions or fines, the latter further impacting on loyal staff (many of whom are fans) regarding payment of wages and their long-term employment security. SUFC staff are not the enemy.
The fact that Mr Swann has been able to drive the club to the point of ruin is not the fault of the supporter groups or fans, but the lack of effective legislation. This could happen to any club and indeed has.
When the Trust met with Lee Turnbull on Tuesday the Iron Trust was quite clear on the issues concerning fans which centred on a total lack of communication over the reasons the proposed takeover announced in December fell through, the appointment of Begbies Traynor, the winding up order by HMRC and the failure of the club owner to sell the club. Previously we have challenged the owner over the stopping of annual shareholder meetings, the lack of fan forums, the transfer of assets from SUFC to Coolsilk, the renaming of the ground without consultation and we have persuaded the Council to register the ground as an asset of community value. We have raised the way the club has been run with the Football Supporters Association, Parliamentary groups, the local MP and former MP and fan Nic Dakin as well as various media outlets.
And now we are at the most crucial stage in the Iron’s history, not because fan groups or fans have failed, but for the fact that one man can use a community football club as his toy, to do with what he wants. What mustn’t happen now, at this moment, is for fans to be turning against each other when the real enemy is the man ruining our club.
We need to be united; we need to support and help our club and we must be together. UTI

Kismet?
Today’s dingbat….
EVENT YY
No group, whoever they are can realistically organise a mass pitch invasion as the FA have deemed them illegal.
However, I would agree that a demonstration outside the ground pre or post match could be properly organised.
The gate locking stunt DID raise some public awareness.

I wonder if Mr Wharton would support a Phoenix club by ‘selling’ a piece of land for a token price that we could then develop?
Owner – Brian Potter.
Manager – Jerry St Claire.

Here’s another Tory default: –
Got a glossy newsletter through the door from our Tory MP Guy Opperman.
Lots of photo opportunities showing him in a hi-vis vest stood with workers who had done the jobs, mostly organised by parish or county councillors or even independent groups but there he was sticking his grinning face in front as though he’d done it all himself.
Then the next day I learned that his/our constituency was amongst the worst in the country for deprecation in real earnings.
Funny how that didn’t crop up in the newsletter!
Oh, and his expenses claim would pay off the Iron’s tax bill with bucket loads left over!
My granddad and uncle both played for Brigg Town!
For me I guess the nearest in claret and blue is South Sheilds. Though Dunston UTS is closer.
BS wrote: “So Iron-awe, you think that a 50 year wait has not tested anyone’s patients ha ha!”
So they’re building a new hospital too are they?

Deciding something is not worth the asking price is not the same as not being able to afford it.
Not necessarily MK.
Everyone has a finite amount to spend. The quoted asking price as we all know was just the tip of the iceberg. Or should we say edge of the money pit?
I guess they did the maths and decided upping the offer wasn’t a sensible option.
Anyone remember this lot?
Simon and Ian were only doing what every one of us would have done if we had been in their position.
And like the majority of us they could not come up with the money.
Back to the old Ferrari analogy!
My mate is a member of Nottinghamshire Golf Club.
He contacted me this morning to say the talk around the club was of their owner, Alan Hardy, putting together a consortium to buy Scunthorpe United FC.
Nothing that hasn’t already been said in the media though, but the word consortium in an interesting one!
Well their game last night was the only one in NL not frozen off.
So that would suggest otherwise.
“For the sake of a nail….!”
My old mum worked for a while in the Bell & Anchor probably not long after it was first opened.
The jukebox thing hit her particularly badly when Wings, Mull of Kintyre came out!
Macca certainly produced a good many “arrrgh!” Singles at that time. Frog Chorus. Band on the run. That horrendous duo with Jacko!
Enough to bring you out in a cold sweat!
For some reason (probably hidden in my inner psyche) I can’t stand “Layla”.
Unfortunately, because of my age it’s often on the playlist at parties etc.
Mind you I have a whole list of what many regard as classics that have me reaching for the ear-plugs.
Anyone else have something similar?
Same here.
I too have emailed them with my views.
Iron lion is correct, decisions should not be made by a couple of people.
However, instead of unsubscribing perhaps the Trust should regularly get a newsletter from each of us.
We are after all Scunthorpe UNITED!

Easily solved bring back fences at least 90 clubs know when part of a ground is full.
After narrowly avoiding Hillsborough II the other week that ain’t gonna happen!

A few properties round us have had SOLD boards up. A week or two later they’re back on the market!
If we are believing the £3.5m + £1 quote then it’s hardly an extortionate amount.
As you say, £3.5m was for the lot.
The club is up for £1 so is £1.5m for just the ground realistic?
A lie is still a lie even if everyone believes it.
The truth is still the truth if no one believes it.
