Those having a go make it easier for him to miss than score. It is called psychological pressure.
(Incidentally, the word ‘supporter’ means one who proffers help or support.)
Maybe that pressure increases in direct proportion to the criticism levels. Who’d have thought that to be possible?I’ve said it before – there’s only one player in my history I’ve insulted – and that was because he visibly wasted his many talents.
But then – as Nuttall is so despised perhaps he missed them all deliberately!
(See. I can get just as daft as others can on this board.)1 user thanked author for this post.
Hill put it in as a wind-up answer to a not very bright question.
He then reduced it to 6 with the same laugh in his voice.2 users thanked author for this post.
No players scoring goals a-plenty at Coventry who come to mind?
Well. Can people now begin to see what KH is doing for the club?
As ever, we have a young forward making his way. It’s the toughest job in football – and there have been plenty on here getting on his back.
The intolerance is not racist but neither is it fair.
I see a player working hard for the team and his role coming together bit by bit.
It won’t happen overnight.
The lad snapped – and shouldn’t have done – but why do some get onto the back of every young forward? – It has cost us much in past years and so many don’t get it but do complain when one of these guys starts scoring for someone else!
Every chance he will now want to leave.
We need to have someone better lined up before we even consider driving this guy from our club.
Shame!2 users thanked author for this post.
There are too many fans who belittle young forwards as they are learning their trade.
(Too many past managers who have played forwards wide and out of position.?I never expected the eventual apology.
I am not too familiar with such documents. Anyone able to help with the subtext?

I knew both.
Provided all the promises made by a certain party are kept – and why wouldn’t they be? – everything will be hunky dory.

Dennis?
No. No and thrice NO.You are certainly right about the permanent signings.
Gotta disagree, NI.
We bring in promising youngsters who don’t always give a toss. They probably have squad numbers in the 40s back at their own clubs. But for their sakes, they need an established side which will bring out their best.
We have no such animal to offer. Everyone loses. As for the successes – they have been rare over a number of years. Toney and Yates were probably the best but we still had something resembling a team to put out back then and neither would have come on the sorts of wages we offer to loanees these days!
Millen, Thompson, Bunn and Hallam are serious concerns because of injuries – in or OOC.
Taft is/was a real player but didn’t seem to cope with all the responsibility on his shoulders.(Obviously, we’ll be wanting to keep KDT.)
On the top eight of your list, forgotten, I’d keep the keeper. All the rest to go.
Taft, Millen, Perry and Hallam. That’s quite a lot of money in wasted wages. I suspect that KH has been subtly pressurising them to move on. Letting them know that there’s no future here. Any footballer worth his salt should have the personal integrity and dignity to have their agent hard at work to get ’em out!
I have spoken of aiming to bring in eight with real experience. Will KH be able to empty the club of those he doesn’t want first?
Contracts today – there could be some rather unwelcome faces still hanging around in the squad at the start of 2022/23.As for loan players, unless we are only paying a nominal wage and they come with zero strings attached – mebbe take a couple but there would have to be special reasons to do so.
The loan system is one more reason, amongst many, why we are in the current mess.Yup. Pretty much all of the above serve to confirm my confusion.
April 25, 2022 at 10:49 am in reply to: Keith – ‘some didn’t want to play today fearing injury’ #236350Although it’s 100% morally wrong to have that attitude when we have something to fight for – when the season is totally gone (partly due to them, of course) it doesn’t matter a tinker’s cuss in the real world.
I do agree that if they have actually ‘opted out’ – then a wage cut is appropriate and terminating the contract even more so.The answer to that Fe, is probably that alongside Delaney, Jai is not really a CB.
As an occasional patch up due to injuries – maybe.
IMHO, let the lad be the decent FB that he is. What’s more he will surely improve.2 users thanked author for this post.
Sensible reffing.
Points and wins are of no relevance, BS – they haven’t been for ages.
All that matters is putting in ‘good minutes’ for inexperienced players.(I do agree with CT about Wilson, though. But to be fair he tried his guts out.)
I don’t think that there is any hidden plan to put out loadsa youth in the team for the NL next season. That would be committing harakiri.
Do O’Malley and Rowe (as FBs, of course) even count any more?
1/2 youngsters who have learned what it’s about in recent months and 7 or 8 experienced players is a good team balance – especially with 3/4 youngsters on the bench who are not without valid experience.
Under current financial conditions – youth must play some part – and of course, it must not fill the first team.
This is why I wrote elsewhere that we probably need: 8 in with experience. To do this properly means not bringing in expensive 18 year old loanees who don’t care all that much.7 users thanked author for this post.
Interesting.
After a crazy opening five minutes, we began to gradually get a foothold and even pulled a goal back.
From then on, we played really well and matched Bradford for the rest of the game.
Spine the issue again.
A decent CB alongside Delaney, a midfield general and a proper forward – there’d have been a strong chance of an Iron win – even with all the youngsters.
Beestin looked best I’ve seen him in ages. Moore-Bilham and Gallimore were excellent. All other young uns put in a shift.
Rory was terrific.April 21, 2022 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236224‘Width and pace, breaking quickly and getting men into the box.’
Sorry, NI. I don’t understand.
Wasn’t that sort of thing abolished three or four years ago?I’d rather see that salary be spent on a player.

Others youngsters can come in as and when. There’ll certainly be some very good youngsters on the bench too.
Of course we need experience as well – but I’d rather go for eight than fifteen, as stated. Personally, I’d try to keep Delaney.Aim to bring in the best and fittest we can possibly get. Unfit players and sicknotes are one of the biggest contributors to our relegation.
There will still almost certainly be leftovers such as Hallam, Feeney and probably Bunn about the place.
Gallimore, Lewis, Pugh and Cribb are all but ready to step up when needed – they have already outshone many of the wretched old sweats we’ve seen over this dismal year. One of our most gigantic failures over the last decade has been shipping in youngsters from higher clubs on loan. It has rarely worked. Their minds are probably elsewhere. Hackney is a case in point – as was Wood, the Bournemouth set etc, etc.
Where on earth are we gonna find a brace of real strikers? – That, above all, is what could sink us.
I think Nuttall has something about him which will probably develop in a balanced side – after all, he has been starved of football for several years – but still must be a reserve striker at the start of the season. Surely.April 20, 2022 at 9:13 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236168Jai Rowe has developed in many ways and is hardly a newbie with 35 games under his belt – in the toughest of circumstances.
Mason O’Malley has more than 20 appearances – can be a little immature with positioning but after every half dozen games – you can see a marked improvement.
For me, provided we have decent CBs – I’m perfectly happy having them start the season as RB and LB.April 20, 2022 at 5:34 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236152Agh. I’d forgotten Pugh.
Just what we need – a possible points deduction to start off in our new division.

One pint, typically equates to 300+ calories.
Two small Irish = 120.
No brainer for me. I do miss good beers but for me now – a very rare treat.1 user thanked author for this post.
A very decent performance from Rory today.
Matheson did the business and Feeney had some awesome moments.
All the youngsters are getting better, game on game. So many of them developing.
Let’s hear for Bunn and Hallam – great goal and decent assist.2 users thanked author for this post.
