It’s a fair point IFA.
The other issues are that no side of 11 men – (allowing for several subs) – has had 90+ minutes on the pitch in a single game.
WE have long known that we have been taking on (allegedly) inferior teams in every single fixture. How can that be deemed proper preparation for going into a higher division?
Never seen this done before in any pre-season – and really don’t like it.1 user thanked author for this post.
A mate of mine and his daughter are Owls. They are worried. Had a long chat with him on the phone last night. It’s bad!
Talked to my cousin who used to lead a fans group in Hull until he got poorly. He had some awful tales to tell.
Should the word ‘corruption’ be coming up quite so often in English football?Wasn’t he once described as a CB – or is my ageing braincell playing up?
Well done, Iron!
BLT, like you, I have reservations about our ‘Number One GK’ but let us say that he might possibly be capable of significant improvement. What if that potential might soon begin to show through with half a dozen tough games under his belt?
Just how helpful is it to call him ‘shite?’5 users thanked author for this post.
Are you sure that you are being reasonable about that, San Fran?
How many times over decades have we seen The Mighty Iron outplay opposition – only to lose?
Unkind.

Not according to Transfr Markt.
I only saw 9 minutes of highlights from Skeg but thought that Rory seemed to exude a level of self-confidence I’m not sure that I’ve seen before.

Jean Belehouan. Any initial thoughts about Max’s replacement?
More generally, which recruits may be looking better than squad members from last season?Any clues how season ticket sales are going?
Good, innit!

Well. I know that Rene and you know that and most contributors to Bru know that …
As far as I can see we are really short of wingbacks.
Huh?

Sounds pretty much in line with my crumbling brain cells, IK.
Indeed.
Thanks, DM.
Without sounding too rude, I hope – are you old enough to recall that very pleasant lad yourself?I have to repeat that not getting a proper NL GK in is a false economy – a fact that will be realised pretty darn quick if we are entrenched in the bottom 6 and the number of fans in attendance at the AA begins to tail off sharply.
We really must desperately hope that Mussels and AB have called this one right – that Maison is a genuinely top keeper. Too many fans have not yet witnessed any evidence of this. I truly regret that I am one such.
You may recall my praise several months ago for the overall high standards of goalkeeping in the NLN last season – and we probably had the best of the bunch. Moreover, on average, the keepers will be better in the NL.
A feeling down in the very depths of my gut persistently reminds me of time Alan O Meara was thought good enough to keep in the Football League.Take some good rainwear with you.
Sorry Cass. The only thing I will say, is that I am sure that the above quote – even if true – was never made by Knill.
It’s odd, back in the day, I used to get to hear things on occasion – nowadays, that has been replaced wi’ absolutely nowt.1 user thanked author for this post.
I know a little bit about the Vardy non-signing. His ability was never in question.
Sounds okay, SF, but I suspect it might not be especially cheap.
I probably only came up with around half of your list, Rene, but didn’t bother to organise my thinking.
A splendid and pretty accurate analysis.
Rockets up rectums required?
Hopefully, the blue touch paper ignition will only be needed during pre-season games.1 user thanked author for this post.
Who doesn’t?
The clean sheets tell his story more than adequately.4 users thanked author for this post.
Ah. Rivals, huh?
Max was decent and I feel would have improved.
Where did he go?I sent this to JM.
Following up on an idea I heard voiced over the weekend – how much money is lost to us – and countless other clubs – by not doing the American ballgame thingy?
I refer to people going around the ground with a basket – or whatever – delivering snacks to the 90% who really don’t wanna queue.
That’s a great deal of potential custom. It might only raise a couple of grand net every game with, say, eight to 12 purveyors delivering assorted overpriced goodies and drinks up and down the aisles.
It could potentially raise a great deal more.
My only reservation is that they all should be fully trained to minimise disruption to people’s viewing the football.
If thought and planning went into this – we could probably fund the wages of a couple of players who would otherwise be far too pricey for us.
Free entrance to the ground for the grafters + £30 each would surely tempt more than a few.
This is just a first response, SanFran, the idea needs a fair bit of work and attention but, after polishing, it really ought to work. -
