Triallists

Before we start our annual pre season game of “Spot the Triallist” followed by the usual discussion as to whether or not they are worth a punt can anybody with a memory better than mine think of a Triallist ( particularly post Covid) who has gone on to establish themselves at the club? I stand to be corrected but didn’t Brogan and Rowley arrive as Triallists last pre season?

“The Hartlepool Mail understands that Adam Richardson, Jake Hull, Ben Williams and Josh Harrop are all currently on trial at Hartlepool United.”

A brief career summary also provided for each. If only.

We ought to be looking at getting first year Pros from the likes of Hull, Sheff W & U in on season long loans.
2 from each club and we’d be laughing… ‘recruitment’ done.

Nice thought but could be pretty expensive though and I’ve never really thought that getting too many loanees always works.

Rowley as mentioned above. The one that sticks out though is Sam Winnall, he was a trialist that didn’t turn out too badly for us! Deon Burton also signed that season after a trial and he was a class act (without scoring many).

At the other end of the spectrum I still can’t quite get my head around the decision to sign Kenan Dunnwald-Turan after his trial.

Turan was top scorer in the Maltese 3rd division last season. Turan will be moving to Bayern Munich before long.

I counted 6 too. There is one young lad looks south american and is about 5ft tall. Looks tiny.

I’d be disappointed if the new keeper was brought in as a bit of an unknown trialist. Probably the most important signing this close season, ideally needs to be someone with a decent amount of experience…or failing that a highly rated youngster on loan from a Prem/Champ club.

According to FB Scunny Fans page, Lewis Jones, the ex Donny GK is one of the Triallists. Can anyone name the others?

Butler gave Louis Jones his debut at Donny Rovers.

“He played his first League game in the 2-1 Doncaster win over Portsmouth on 2 March 2021 as Andy Butler took over managing the team.”

26yrs old, but not a lot of experience under his belt.

Well spotted Cass .. he really is surplus to requirements now can you see him getting a start in many games, nowt against the bloke but.

Not a triallist but i read on SM hat Jake Eastwood is linked to a move to Scunny … EX Codhead keeper ..seems quite a few of our fishy friends were sad to see him released after he regained fitness following a collision with the goal post at Carlisle 6 months out with injury..some cod fans rated him others not so much.

Thoughts anyone ??
