i drank in there as the friendship and Friendly fox .. a fella called Russ had the place .. Barge Inn cant recall that.
Bud passed away not long ago unfortunately.
Thats sad .. he knew my family well , a character , loved a pint or three.
Pub near the canal was The Friendship Hotel, it became The Friendly Fox and latterly The Barge Inn.

Sounds promising .. waiting more news on this.
BTW Keadbyiron i used to live in Gunness and drank in the Ironstone wharf n Jolly sailor pubs sometimes ventured over the bridge to Keadby WM club and the pub near the canal (forget the name)
You know the white family Frank Dean n Damon also Bud Swash
Played 30 – Won 5
Wrexham & County are well clear of the chaff.
A very mediocre, much of a muchness league.
Agree..Indeed its sad we have struggles so much and find ourselves at the bottom of what is a mediocre league .. take away Wrexham n County and a couple of clubs nearly there n the rest are quite evenly matched and could all beat each other on any given day.
Before the season most predicted Wrexham n Notts to be up there ..says it all really it was that obvious , in Wrexhams case the money has helped ..Notts county not sure but a big club been knocking on the door often.
Chesterfield did seem to be one to watch n in the mix but the wheels have come off , Barnet , Woking punching above their weight as were Solihull again before it went tits up .. all leads to the fact its a very so so league sadly one we will be leaving at the wrong end barring a miracle.

The Barnet manager brought up Foster in his post match interview (yt vid ).. commenting hes a young lad and how they wanted to target that n put extra pressure on him.. if the Barnet boss is doing that im sure others will be as well .. defo need another keeper the likes of Gilks would be nice.
Waiting to see how it goes re team selection and performance against DnR ..obviously still very early days though i would hope for an improvement on Friday nights efforts.

Not reading any moaning in my previous post X … even my comment on Butterfield was a personal opinion.
Stay up – go down yes it matters but when you look at things in the cold light of day the fact the town still has a football club with what appears to be an enthused owner has to be seen positively, any improvements will take time and any whinging n moaning needs to be toned down and the new set up given time .. blooming heck is only been a few days is the football world really that fickle.
I hope all Scunthonians fans or not stick by the club… being so close to extinction i sincerely think Mr Hilton (who got rid of swan for us) and his new team BOTH MANAGERIAL AND PLAYERS should be given time, pretty much nailed on to go down this season but the town still has its football club now and for generations to come there was a time not to long ago that was very much in doubt.
I hope as many as possible of the 2000 continue to turn up..time will tell but all it needs ais a few decent performances n results.
As a personal comment .. did not agree with Butterfield being dropped he was missed in midfield and should have been involved and played for the usual 70 mins .. doubt was injured as ne on the bench.. hope hes not one Dean sees as not giving the required 100% effort in training n on match days as his place has been more or less guaranteed since he arrived.

Surely, for the first two games he will lean heavily on Nelson.
(Well. I think it’s around 16 midfielders he has to choose from.)Nah. They are all self centred egotistical faux savants.
He’ll do his own thing to lay down his markers, red lines and rules etc.
Head Coach… appeasement.
He’ll be frozen out and gone at the end of the season.
It’s happened many, many times before.
Don’t get too giddy guys.
Money talks.
The big boys are top of the league for a reason.Wrexham’s TV show drags them in £500,000 an episode!
Our gate receipts drag us in about £70,000 per game (3,500 x £20)
Wrexham = 10,000 x £20 = £200,000
Disparity.
Hey hang on a mo … why not make a documentary series based on the real happenings at SUFC over the last 10 years .. all the early good stuff followed up by the gore that Swan inflicted right up to the present day and Hiltons arrival ,, a real tear jerking roller coaster epic ..now what could we call it ???????????
Boom to Bust ..
Glory to Glory hole
Saved by Hiltseven after all the signings and a new manager im sticking with my previous 3-3 .. as for Deans first selection .. anyones guess really.
Hoping for a bumper crowd and plenty of noise to welcome the new guys.

look where we were 2 or 3 weeks ago and NOW .. we fortunately survived , new owner who appears to be doing what he says ie clearing the tax bill n embargo a new manager and now signing players , im all for this to where we were … less “” not for me”” whinging more positivity and lets see how it pans out… not a moan but lets not kid ourselves re big name signings thats not gonna happen IS IT ? ..

just logged in .. been driving up country so not up to speed
Im counting 5 so far .. 3 signings and 2 on loan deals ?? correct
The Cods are in the mix according to a fishy online friend
A week without any drama would be welcomed
Second that !!
An FA Cup run to the fourth round next season.
R1 – we beat Grimsby away
R2 – we beat Lincoln away
R3 – we beat Leeds at home
R4 – a 1-1 draw at GP against Man City before bowing out 4-2 at the Etihad.Sweet Dreams are made of this.
And some of what youve been drinking SOS
Im guessing Hilton is quicker to sign up n add staff then he is to sack the ones he feels are surplus to requirements but it is coming as sure as eggs is eggs… there is areal urgency to get new bodies in in the slim chance of survival … then sort the wheat from the chaff… or the better chaff from the chaff
I suppose all those playing the ‘lack of experience’card would have been happy to have Keith Hill back.
Oh yeah i remember him seems ages ago we were blessed with him doesnt it … bucket loads of experience but totally clueless and was only here for the money nowt else as it turned out,
Rochdale fans need to be worried are they next for the Hill master class ???

this is gonna be a tough opener for Mr Dean n Co .. Barnet boshed Chesterfield a team who beat us TWICE comfortably over the festive period , hoping the new owner honeymoon and Nelsons combined assistance can at least get Scunny a point… not seeing a nil nil here i reckon theres a few goals in this one …all that said ,,
predicting …..3-3
Massive respect and gratitude to the DCFC fans that attended ..
Got a couple of staunch rams fans live near me …will be checking their results more often now after Scunnies of course.
Thanks again.

All a bit of a shock this Dean fella coming in , actually gutted for Nelson .. after dross like Cox Hill n Daws he was doing a great job with what he had at his disposal.
Im sure many more changes ahead .. Me Hilton isnt hanging about implementing them either.
3696 att … so over 1000 returnees for what seems to have been a good game and great atmos to welcome the new boss.
my score draw prediction still stands .. 1-1
Good call.
Yep nailed it …AGAIN 5555
now trying to find the exact attendance for my lotto numbers
Wishing all Scunny fans a great day today from Asia … sing yer hearts out for the lads !!!

anything circa 4000 would be literally fan tastic…. todays crowd total at GP will be my next chosen lottery numbers here ..
My enthused SUFC buzz is back ..
TO STAY UP this season.

Great first interview i like the sound of this fella .. it appears SUFC may have been very fortunate landing him.
points to note.
very level headed guy with experience and i got the impression he wont take anything other than 100% commitment from staff top to bottomHe realizes the club is over staffed
Experienced players coming in to benefit the young lads.
new facilities on or near site
Nelson probably gonna be given a chance to carry on and LT staying possibly , is so hopefully in a different role.
I loved the ” im a council house kid and may find me on the terraces ”
The plan is staying up , there is a plan B .
All in all fantastic to hear what he had to say and stay up go down this man has saved the club which had to be the priority and go back 2 weeks i think any fan would have taken this senario.
I may be on the other side of the world but hope theres a huge loud and supportive turn out later today no more anti Swan chants needed he is history …just a massive thank you and welcome to Mr Hilton.
A trip back is now being planned to take in as many games as poss something i wasnt even considering until recent events.
UP THE IRON ..

A quick clear the air apology from LT should suffice , in which he reiterates he was instructed by the former chairman on the wording to use re the fans .. as for Wright na .. hes done.
All for Sharpe n Co to assist Hilton in some capacity if at all possible.

When were u at Foxhills?
When i was a school kid… 555
1975 to 80
Maths teacher was Mr White , Physics was pin head Robins , Ms Mclellen for French, i lived in Gunness and came on the bus daily.
shame to hear about sheff park
My wrong i got Hilltop ave confused with Hilton ave , the latter being behind the Berkley pub not to far from GP as already pointed out.
i used to drink in both Gunness pubs mostly the Ironstone Wharf but also over the river in Keadby , in Scunny town itself Tavern n Town Pickwicks Garbos Britainia Honest Lawyer Ashby Star , Ferryboat in Burringham , pub in Scotter also.
Loads of Indian eateries on Frod rd and Wilsons Chippy …
I had a couple of market stands in Scunny also did York city center , Donny and for my sins Cleethorpes Wonderland markets.
Out of all my memories i miss going to the footy the most.. and especially at times like this with hopefully a brighter future ahead thanks to David Hilton.
