Now Clunan and Law are back and if the likes of Beestin Kouogun and Roberts return from injury and especially Roberts stay fit for a lengthy spell i think it will most certainly change the course of the season (avoiding needless suspensions also helps) …more so i hope non of the first team regulars leave as mentioned by Chris Plummer on the club website ..be a real shame.
very interesting and hopefully positive news in the coming days .. how do members feel about the possibility GP being renamed THE NEW SHOWGROUND ??
The ground should have been called this in the first place, when we moved.
Totally agree
Suspect given the dire financial position they will be looking at selling naming rights for the ground.
Think this new community interest company being set up is another example of how hard Michelle and co are working to save the club.Suppose the naming rights could still be sold whilst incorporating the name … for example insert name of the buyer/sponsor paying for the rights.
THE NEW ********* SHOWGROUND
or
THE ********* NEW SHOWGROUNDMust admit im not fussed so long as a deal is done and we stay there
A bit of down time so caught up on the Fishy forum chit chat … didnt realize they had been playing quite so badly and it seems many are calling for Hurst to be filleted and tossed in the scrap bin for fish fingers.. lost 3-2 at home to lowly Colchester last night and the knives are out and being sharpened.
After all the pre season optimism all is not well with our fishy friends up the M180..Maybe sooner than anyone thought

Well that was a shock !! … every time ive stayed up to listen to the game weve lost so was getting to thinking im a jinx …so… due to the time difference (currently KO 01-45 am here after this weekend 02-45 am) and my current workload i skipped it last night and we play brilliantly and bosh six in, suffice to say jinx or coincidence i will just be listening to the Saturday games from now on.
Lets hope this can act as a spring board for more of the same and get a run going as Tamworth dont seem to be slipping up.
WGs every time you mention HMS PTL it goes tits up so whilst i agree its making a huge difference injured key players returning im still not jumping on board your boat for the ride …love your optimism though.

A very laid back Danny Whitehall ..IMO one who needs to put a proper shift in tonight now Elliot is out
Well the Darlo win was a Tuesday night Cass, let’s see how we get on tomorrow, could be an interesting pointer to the remainder of the season.
Yep next two home games are massive to how the rest of the season will pan out.
Carver was on fire at Southport for a spell but dropped off recently…cant recall exactly when but i do recall him stating he didnt want to play for Scunny again.
As for the current first team squad IMO Whitehall looks very disinterested and just going through the motions which isnt good with Elliot possibly out injured and YES Bennett wins headers and runs a lot but couldnt hit a pigs arse with a shovel when it comes to finishing.
Being out played out fought by teams who set up defensively against us, we give a soft goal away and then we cant break them down A LA Buxton TWICE.
Hoping Butterfield stays fit and some of the injured return esp Clunan Beestin Kouogun and Roberts (just how long the latter will remain fit is guesswork)
i have a feeling that the team are slipping up right now, and according to some reports, a few players are not puuting a lot of effort into their performances.
So although the team tend to play better in home games (apart from the Buxton match), I am going for a forcast of:-
SCUNTHORPE 0 SPENNYMOOR 2.3,743 ATTENDANCE Reflected by the poor showing on Saturday.
These two home matches this week could well be a big pointer on what chances they have on getting out of this League, six points and a lot more fight from some players would be welcome to our long suffering fans.
Agree with most of that , be interested to know the players that appear to have lost the will to fight seen a few comments relating to this lack of effort by some.. yes lots still going on off the field but being professionals shouldnt be the case. Possibly some had other clubs lined up if the club had breached the 14 day salary non payment (which they didnt as i believe everyone was paid) leading some to loose interest possibly.
As for a prediction … praying for a home win ..alas
1-1
Att 3,334The easiest way to pack the park is by winning games n playing free flowing attacking football .. something we just arent seeing at the moment and havent for a few weeks since Scarboro at home which coincides with both the worst of the injuries and the extra DH turmoil re outing by the Athletic salaries and the ground court case.

in truth weve been playing crap for weeks ..only really the Darlington and Scarboro games did we click… we werent great in the 1-0 win over Brackley to be honest twas only Butters goal that saved the day.
Off field goings on more than likely could have effected the players ,JD away for his op even terrible clueless refs may be factors but should not used as excuses for a dross performance like Chester.
The only valid excuse are the injuries to Clunan Beestin etc which have made a huge difference.
No doubt this squad is more than capable at this level but its so easy for teams to set up against us , we cannot break a good defensive side down and lack any cutting edge in front of goal , creating real goal scoring chances just isnt happening and if things dont change its mid table obscurity this season followed by players out of contract and another year of NLN to follow. All these guys are professionals but there seems to be a lack of confidence, pride n fight in a few.
Next 2 games are crucial , 3 away games on the bounce after that !!

Not too long ago we were cutting teams to shreds with Whitehall on fire but as mentioned with Clunan and Beestin out we have laboured. Clunan kept the ball moving quick in midfield and Beestin has that bit of quality to knit things together further up.
I don’t think the formation worked today at all, I thought we were far too conservative. I do however think we need to shed a few players and draft another striker if possible as Whitehall and Elliot aren’t enough.
Elliot’s injury didn’t help today either. Clunan and Beestin will help no end, I did mention we most missed Clunan weeks ago and a certain few thought I was mad but he was the one that took control and kept the ball moving.
Those two can’t come back soon enough !
On to todays formation change, I personally just didn’t get it. Why not keep with what we were playing ?
I thought we showed them for too much respect !
WGs … MAYDAY MAYDAY HMS piss the league is in distress emergency assistance requested.
Agree with all youve posted .. Clunan a massive miss in midfield also back 4 dont look as solid with Kuougun missing, we dont have enough fore power up front like a ratty goal poacher who can finish a la Sharp Hooper etc.
Next two fixtures are huge and max points a must.

Seems the young Chester manager (speaks very well when interviewed) agrees with the bookies odds 30 seconds in to his post match vid.
I wish i shared his optimism ..alas i dont.
Players heaping pressure to perform on themselves and these silly mistakes wont help , hoping being at home will get them over the line though will be a tough game .. Spennymoor going well , around the top ov the table and will be well rested as their game was called off yesterday.
head says 0-0
heart says 2-1 ScunnyI quite like Hinds as co commentator yesterday and he got things bang on especially in summing up post final whistle.
HR and this fella Wishart are as his name suggests Shart .. after yet more technical issues he constantly got names wrong and blamed the sun in his eyes for not following play .. the fact he didnt know there isnt a 4th official at this level tells its own story.
terrible performance by Scunny and equally bad commentator

Finished 2-0 to Chester
surely game should have been abandoned or postponed when the ref went off injured… a Chester fan coming out the crowd to run the line as no fourth official .. really is pub league stuff.
btw Chester were the better side and deserved their win, Chester goalie didnt have a save to make and too many silly mistakes gifting goals.
HR are total gash .. every week technical issues and yet again today the commentary has dropped out just as they are about to kick off.

Need to get back to winning ways this weekend ..
prediction ..
Chester 1 Scunny 4does anyone have an update re the injury list and how some are progressing including Jimmy .. i did see Jason Law in the training images… the likes of Clunan , Beestin, Kouogun etc oh and Cal Roberts but i reckon hes a while of yet.
agree with both previous posts ..the club should really offer something to keep the fans informed , a brief statement to update the situation re ongoing negotiations and ticketing for home fixtures to set minds at ease.
That said…concerned fans is very understandable with the situation as it is, its gone from the insane DH social media rants and outbursts to deafening silence ..i much prefer the latter and im sure behind the scenes the new owners and board are working hard and will update as soon as they have something concrete to confirm.
Does anyone even have the accurate price what Swan is asking for GP .. be a handy starting point knowing what the target is.
I would hope the Council and many Scunthorpe based businesses would come on board and every avenue checked re grants etc.I watch KVV codhead goal and celebration quite often .. never get bored of it.

.While I am at it I want to apologise to IB who was actually was giving out warnings about Hilton pretty much from the start. I questioned his motives a number of times but whatever his motives actually were his warnings were substantially correct.
Yes me too .. whatever his motives IB was spot on re Hilton and on the odd occasion i may of been a tad obtuse towards him and his posts ..for that IB i apologize.
Not heard that interview, where was it broadcast?
It was on the SUFC website Saturday evening / Sunday morning.

Wonder what will become of the Glebe rd site ??
The site that Scunthorpe United did not buy, you mean?
Yes that one
It would be quite something if, at some point in the future, the club actually did buy it and relocate!
On par with the parting of the seas Apollo .. so much so i will state now i will show my arse in Woollies winda if it happens.
IMO his stance has always been one of positioning for the future enough said.
Positioning the club, or himself?
Himself ..so hes in the right place at the right time to facilitate his involvement at the club.
At times running with the foxes n the hounds it appears its turned out quite well for him .. and in truth im ok with that so long as the club survives.
Wonder what will become of the Glebe rd site ??

Agree 100% ..the guy is a real gem.
The interview he gave post Brackley was excellent , he comes across as being a really nice honest fella. I hope he stays with Scunny for many more years and gets up back in the EFL.
He is class.

Simon Elliot is obviously Scunny through n through and i thank him for the hard work he has put in at whatever stage it happened , i would not boo or cheer him but offer my gratitude ..

I’m very interested in public perception and what is required to change opinions en masse. How much truth does it require, and how little doubt does it take to undermine it?
There’s probably a state of disbelief, for some – that this kind of thing just doesn’t happen in ‘little old Scunthorpe’ or to Scunthorpe United – and therefore cannot be true. In other words, for some people it’s too outlandish to believe.
There will also be plenty of people who simply don’t understand the finances. This is where a timeline and a clear and thorough explanation of what happened would help. Hopefully that is what is coming soon.
It doesn’t help that when the new owner took over, the club issued a statement which gave him a face-saving ‘out’. It was obviously politics to do this, but once again some people simply won’t understand.
Pretty much how i see it .. DH agreed to forgo a fee for the club and any monies he is alleged to have paid ( pockets already bulging ) for the new group to chuck in a nice tatty bye covering his arse in the statement…
Wonder what will become of the Glebe rd site ??
