We don’t have mega millionaire custodians.
We don’t have the fanbase.
We don’t have the income.
We have a wage cap.
We have a minimal squad.
We have limited ability players. We don’t appear from what I’m reading to have ‘our’ club?
AB is definitely facing an uphill battle this season!
Let’s give him & the players breathing room and ‘forgiveness’ for not being world beaters.
How long can we continue trying to ascend the mountain carrying that huge boulder?
Surviving relegation this season will be a success!
July 30, 2025 at 10:44 am #307808Thought he was the new right back

July 30, 2025 at 12:50 pm #307810Has he gone to Matlock?
July 30, 2025 at 1:56 pm #307812Mat Lock is the incoming Right Back from Brusheya Doormouse AFC.
July 30, 2025 at 2:08 pm #307813We where only told yesterday that we had the fanbase.
We had a bigger average attendance than all but 3 clubs in the NL last season.
We had the income from said attendance.
We have a squad that is now deemed big enough to compete in another cup that we didn’t have to enter.
We have a wage cap that allowed us to keep Whitehall and Roberts. Can’t really remember ever having ‘our’ club.
We are in the NL and no one should expect world beaters, what I will give is forgiveness when the team go out and put in and give 100% but end up not getting a result, unlike many a game last season when they didn’t.
We can forever carry that boulder up the mountain it’s what most football clubs do.
On surviving relegation you’ve set the bar to low, that will affect the attendance and the income, mid table would be ok but let’s push on.

Championship 2010-11 ave Att: 5,548
NLN 2024-25 ave Att: 4,117

We did

Directors subsidising to the tune of £65k a month?
We have a squad that is now deemed big enough to compete in another cup that we didn’t have to enter.
A ‘competition’ to give game time to the ‘B’ players who aren’t featuring weekly in NL games.
Those games will be better than drop of the hat behind closed doors friendlies for the ‘stiffs’
We have a wage cap that allowed us to keep Whitehall and Roberts.
the same that allows the majority of ‘supporters’ to flail our keepers and as the season progresses, a few more players, in public stocks.
The two keepers are experiencing all the fun of the fair – but only as Aunt Sally!
Can’t really remember ever having ‘our’ club.
True – but there appears to be issues with allowing the Trust to purchase shares.
In house ‘fighting’ (directors), FC1M, Trust etc
It looks as if we will never become a community owned self sufficient entity?
We are in the NL and no one should expect world beaters
Yet people berate the ‘budgetary’ players that we have on the books.
I will give is forgiveness when the team go out and put in and give 100% but end up not getting a result
Blood, sweat & tears and everyone is ‘happy’ – you can’t give more than your best.
We can forever carry that boulder up the mountain it’s what most football clubs do.
And yet we were possibly hours away from being a non-entity.
We can’t allow that to happen againOn surviving relegation you’ve set the bar to low, that will affect the attendance and the income, mid table would be ok but let’s push on.
I’m only saying that it’s job done if we escape relegation to the NLN – hopefully we have a solid mid table consolidating season. Something to build on for the following season.

August 16, 2025 at 8:27 am #309896Luckily we are only playing the X1 human adversaries of our 23 opponents and not teams with (X-Men) super mutant powers… lol
We need to build up a head of steam and steamroller our opponents in to submission.
We need to create that early Tyson aura – where opponents were defeated even before they’d jumped the ropes to enter the ring.
Winning breeds winning, injects confidence and a belief.
Opponents will fear us and half the battle is won if we’ve castrated them psychologically.Let’s go for it in every game.
Better to die by the sword than to waste away in a distant non-league field.Let every game be a battle!

August 29, 2026 at 9:03 am #327014You could form a band and call them the Bunnymen.
August 29, 2026 at 9:26 am #327019“We need to survive this season and push on for the next”.
Why?
What will change?
Nothing.August 29, 2026 at 10:14 am #327027Calm down alcy we won last night and it’s four games in everything to play for.

August 29, 2026 at 10:27 am #327029Agreed IA.
But…
We did concede first.
We do seem to be mediocre financed on third best crowds.
So unless there’s someone with money waiting in the wings, what WILL change?August 29, 2026 at 12:29 pm #327035It’s a long hard climb back to where we used to be alcy and where we all aspire to go and we will have periods on the finance we have when things won’t always change much, such is life but we are heading in the right direction IMO.

August 29, 2026 at 12:48 pm #327038I thought I saw a few “green shoots” last night especially in our second half and in the nights other results. Playing two big lads up front gave us a long ball outlet. Who cares if they got their head on a few, if they can’t direct it then it’s a second ball to compete for and Rowley and Richards did that. Providing then they play a simple short ball forward or wide then we are on the front foot. Jones is a good shot stopper but he is playing in the National league for a reason and that is his distribution is crap. If so, don’t ask him to distribute. He hoofs it clear when he has to and the rest of the time rolls it to the back 4, they invite the press to stretch the opposition midfield and then play it long in the air for the 2 big lads to compete, most times the CB will get it. If we play 433 then 2 ball winning midfielders and JB is a good midfield. Who then to play with big lads up top? From a Goals scored perspective, it’s Alfie Beestin. You could play Dec Howe through the middle between them. Or a wide player. Currently, I don’t think that wide player is Pat Johes; Brennan or Hurst for me. Finally, when Whitehall is fit you could go with 3 big lads up front. In any of these scenarios we get the ball forward by initially bypassing midfield. We compete hard for the second ball and we press high( Parker Gale and Howe would definitely do this).
Regarding the other results the invincibility of some of the teams was laid bare. I don’t think Sutton are the new Rochdale ( or York) and everyone else has dropped some strange points somewhere in the first 4 games. You know a few wins ( particularly against the clubs above us) and we will be right in the mix! Let’s hope Butler has a settled Style and Formation ready for Monday, where Carlisle will be mortified to have conceded a last minute equaliser last night!1 user thanked author for this post.
August 29, 2026 at 1:24 pm #327041He subbed in pretty good time last night Phil which I guess was saving legs for Monday, if he starts the same eleven against Carlisle I wouldn’t complain but maybe Jones needs a rest out wide for Hurst who delivers a better ball into the box IMO. One thing was clear last night Butterfield still makes us tick, based on last night he’s a good signing.

August 29, 2026 at 8:13 pm #327050Butterfield shouldn’t have been let go by Butler in first place.
Funny once he left many thought he wasn’t that good afterall, guess that’s Scunny fans for you.
August 29, 2026 at 8:54 pm #327051Was it Butler that “let him go”?
Not so sure myself.

For many, it wasn’t that he wasn’t good, more that he wasn’t so vital that we would fail without him or he couldn’t be replaced.
He will always be fondly remembered by me for his contribution to the crowd funder.

August 30, 2026 at 8:02 am #327057I think he looks at least as fit as when he was here last time. He covered some ground on Friday and was not fading when he was subbed.
The quick turnaround for tomorrow’s game might take its toll but I’d still be looking for an hour from him if he’s feeling OK.August 30, 2026 at 9:42 am #327060Quite a few said he was to old after he left, had a poor run in to the season end, trying to convince others. And of course our mod didn’t rate him anyway.
Funnily enough I praised Butler at the time for letting him go for the obvious reasons of him being a threat to his job, guess Butler is so settled and so arrogant and conceited (which we’ve heard from his interviews) that he doesn’t feel he’s a threat anymore.1 user thanked author for this post.
August 30, 2026 at 10:46 am #327061Well quite a lot of your posts are guesswork Awaywego, nothing new there.
