He’s a football manager, the vast majority TALOB, it’s in their job description.

Butterfield’s goal was class, what a player he is and the young lad from Leeds had his best game in an Iron shirt yet IMO. Elliott though was awful and should have been subbed but in truth it wasn’t a great game. It was more about the tremendous atmosphere and passion generated inside the ground, there was a real togetherness in the stadium. Congratulations to the new owner and board and if our club has learned one thing in the last ten years it’s the value of having local owners. It takes a certain type of person to understand what this football club means to this town and its people. No more Swanns or Hilton’s please. UP THE IRON.

Absolute and total nonsense.
It’s what he does best DM.
Elliott went about it the wrong way, no need to play the smart arse, this is serious stuff and he handled that part of the interview poorly IMO. Fans criticising Andy Comfort need to grow up.

Only interested in the property?,A funny way of going about it WG, trying to get the fans to buy it through the 1899 scheme (which the fans still need to do) and then what?
Aye but where did the money go? Plus it was just the ground what about the land around it?, never did sound right.
Wish I was there today enjoy everyone. Uti
Always knew you were a bloody part timer.
Start the new era with a 2-1 win in front of 5,036 (35 away and 1 from South Korea).
Announcement about an interim agreement over GP?
The ticketing information on the website would suggest so.

Wow what a great video, sums it all up perfectly.

October 6, 2023 at 4:24 pm in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274839Agreed DM, we know Awaywego has to be different but this constant arse kicking of people actively trying to help our club out of this current situation is counter productive IMO.

With a large crowd cheering the boys on and the feel good factor between staff and players with over £68,000 being raised to help them out, I predict a home win. Also has GP been secured till the end of this month with tickets for both Spennymoor and Bishop Stortford now on sale, they weren’t available on the website yesterday?

That’s a point, will be interesting to see how long the ” Land acquired by SUFC ” signs stay up on that land off Warren Road? Quite ironically it’s not too far from Michelle’s business in town.
The fact the new owner has worked at the Iron during the Swann era is a bonus IMO for helping to get an amicable agreement over GP, it wasn’t like Swann and Hilton had the most cordial of relationships over that particular matter.

One would imagine so, the need for unity hasn’t ended because of today, any help, funds or just a united front the fans can show on Saturday needs to be maintained throughout this season and beyond. We have been lucky getting a local buyer but there are plenty of rough days ahead, if or probably when the squad is cut we need to support the new board not criticise them over trying to make the club viable because some of the financial trouble month by month probably stems from overspending on the squad.
Nice to see those ridiculous bans under Hilton lifted, will the phone chucker be the first person banned under the new ownership?, well he did break the club’s rules on throwing objects onto the pitch and remember it applies home and away.

Or a sponsored turning cars over on Cleethorpes front, went down well years ago NI, clever bastards taunting Scunny fans thought they were safe, suppose they were really just not the car.
Your immaturity & lack of social awareness shows no limits……
Don’t forget his genuine lack of brain power.
Aidan reporting a deal is close with Swann to remain at GP, wow, that would be a proper result if true.

A lady owner, congratulations Michelle and thank you, first job, smack Awaywego across the gob with your handbag. UTI, we have OUR club back.

October 4, 2023 at 11:43 am in reply to: This saga is unending but I hope it resolves like this #274495Christ does Hilton live in a caravan or something ?(not that I have got anything against people residing in one ,as I did myself for a brief spell in my latter teenage years)
I heard he had recently upgraded to Humberston Fitties but was still using a chemical toilet.
Sounds like somebody’s member is getting escalated again, calm down dear.
Agreed, the fanbase at the minute isn’t in the mood for some of Rene’s light hearted nonsense, it’s serious shit time Rene, have another beer and carry on sunbathing, there’s a good lad.
Awaywego we don’t know how much Hilton has put into the Iron since he arrived but we do know he insisted on season tickets being cash only and 1899 payments being bankers draft, hardly normal procedure these days in business.

All hypothetical of course but if the Iron Trust could pass a thousand strong in membership and each member stumps up a grand , could Elliot and Sharp come back in with some more money, maybe some kind of lottery grant included too? It’s a long shot but we need that ground to save the club in its current form.

The club statement said that it was Coolsilks refusal to discuss the ground situation that has lead to us leaving after Saturday because of fear of back rent to pay when the ground issue is eventually settled. That tells me there won’t be a legal defence over the ground from our side and with the owner not funding the club he’s hardly going to court to buy a ground for a club he wants to sell. Sell, what a joke, he is rumoured to have only paid one pound for the club in January and has already said he won’t get any money back ( if any ) he has paid into the club since then. Mind you he said a fortnight back he would continue to fund the club till it was sold, that went well didn’t it? Just give up the club and clear of pal and then maybe some group of investors will come in, take over the club and begin a dialogue with Coolsilk to acquire the ground. UTI.

Probably been told to pay the compensation in cash, preferably used notes, bit like the season ticket saga.
Apollo 11 please don’t do this, if you know something then give, if not then please keep quiet, speculation will lead to more division eventually.
The contentious nature of Awaywegos posts, which has probably accounted for 75% of his input over the years on this forum, now threaten to give him 100% brain fog on this particular issue. Which part of standing together as one for OUR football don’t you understand?

Fair play to Dean who has conducted himself very well this season. The team had some good results and although there may be a dip in the next few games owing to folk not eing paid and behind the scenes turbulence, I think he’s done pretty well in the circumstances.
The guy is clearly not very articulate in front of the cameras and doesn’t like interviews, but then give me a decent manager every day over a shiny-toothed patter merchant who talks a good game but doesn’t deliver any results.
Fingers crossed we get through all this.
This
I just think he comes across as genuine which TBF we aren’t used to at Scunthorpe United and I’m referring to higher up the ladder.7 users thanked author for this post.
Think he struggles a bit sometimes in interviews and it’s probably just not his thing , he’s done good things with this group of players but they let him down a bit today second half. I always think Jimmy comes across as a genuine guy and unlike the current non funding owner he actually appears to feel something for our club and it’s supporters, nice one Jimmy, if we somehow continue as a club I hope you stay.

Anyone got the crowd?
Crowd wasn’t shown on the scoreboard for some reason, quite respectable, I’m crap at guessing but around 4000 perhaps? Good stuff first half but a tale of missed opportunities and hitting the post rather then score with the entire goal to aim for ( Whitehall). Poor defensive display second half but congratulations to Buxton for taking their chances although never a pen, foul yes but outside the area and the player tumbled into the area after contact, once again the officials at this level leave a lot to be desired. Still time wasting by Buxton with eleven added minutes which included about a three minute stoppage for a mini pitch invasion by 12 year olds after their pen but we didn’t deserve to win and if that’s the end then it’s ended poorly on the field for the Iron. Good buzz in the ground , Iron Army taking cash donations in buckets outside prior to KO for the Gofundme effort and it was nice to see such a united front from all our fans, good effort guys let’s keep fighting for OUR club. UTI
Quite right cass, CMC whatever has been said between various parties in the past should not in anyway interfere with the unity we all need to show for OUR football club now, let’s all lead by example.
