Well both sides are calling each other liars as is the norm when war starts, Russia/ Ukraine being a recent example. Who you believe is up to the individual based on various information from various media outlets and as usual the messages are mixed. We can however deal with the facts of the death rates so far in the last 10 days and it is in excess of 4500 and climbing, utterly tragic and unnecessary and unfortunately the dead have had no say in the matter whatsoever, this is the harsh reality of war. Two Arab nations have cancelled their meetings with the American President, highly irregular and unprecedented, that bodes badly for what is coming next. The bloodshed is going to be colossal and if people are not going to discuss aid reaching Gaza or the possibility of a ceasefire then I’m afraid the Middle East could explode into something not seen in that area for a very long time indeed.
That is appalling from a so called responsible politician, you must be concerned Siderite that with such an extreme unpopular right wing government running Israel this whole saga is going to get more bloody and deadly by the day, the poor innocents firstly in Israel and now in Gaza, what a terrible situation for the people who are not responsible for any of this.
Great article, they began failing in 1917.
The fact Israel encroached on other territory in the region early on post 1948 through force of arms without official sanction was the point I refer to Siderite, the Brits basically left them too it, but like India when Mountbatten washed his hands of all responsibilities and said to India and Pakistan” I’m off home it’s your problem now not ours “. I think the link here is powerful Western nations muting an idea, giving it their blessing then running away when problems arise but supporting the country their original idea favoured. There is no doubt that without Western backing since 1948, Israel would be nowhere the powerful well armed forces it is today. Would Israel have been overrun without Western backing?, very probably, can Israel unleash massive desolation in the region if it so chooses?, most definitely. Although never publicly acknowledging it, Israel is widely believed to own nuclear weapons, which again could be a worry overtime in such a volatile environment.
Two wrongs don’t make a right and despite the initial response from Hamas towards Israelis 10 tens ago being abhorrent, the account posted by Fansy from 2018 makes grim reading. If peaceful protest meets such a vicious unproportionate response then what hope is there. Time fades things from memory and the denial that the period from 1917 to 1948 wasn’t handled correctly is still the undermining factor as to why we are here today discussing this human tragedy IMO.
I’m just hoping this lack of news about GP means the new board are burning the midnight oil to get a deal over the line asap, also I hope Ernest Prawn isn’t just playing hardball for the sake of it, he needs money, even rental money, because he won’t be too flush with the cash right now after the way his hotel in Blackpool is performing, or not. It’s reported as being still shut.
October 17, 2023 at 1:18 pm in reply to: Traditional football message boards Vs Facebook groups #275469This forum is pure gold for Iron fans, reasonably moderated even those of us who have had posts removed in the past in the main agree with the decision reached after a rethink. It can be too toxic on Facebook as has been mentioned and our own fans Facebook is a perfect example from poor one sided moderation and many fresh opinions on club matters howled down by the people running it. That’s not a democratic way of running a Facebook forum, this forum is a good example of one that is run properly. Look may you run Iron-bru.

I agree with you on the Jews wanting their own state Siderite but they have grabbed quite a bit more and by force particularly in the early days then they were originally sanctioned to own, all while the West stood by barely making an utterance. There is a lot of unrest and bitterness amongst the Palestinians based on those early days.
I suspect the vast number of Palestinians don’t want Hamas hiding among their population in Gaza, much the same as the vast majority of the people of Ireland didn’t want the IRA hiding amongst theirs but whereas a political solution finally arrived in the country at Stormont ( despite the current power sharing shit show ) the chance of a political solution appearing in the Middle East is minimal in the extreme. Too much political leeway was given to Israel between 1917 to 1948 and is the biggest reason IMO why we have this constant instability in the Middle East. Israel is a Western backed, armed to the teeth country, sitting in the Middle of many Arab nations with different relgions, from the moment Israel was officially formed with the blessing of so many powerful Western nations behind them, it was never going to end well. I feel so sorry for the many innocents on both sides of this conflict while the world’s powers that be sit twiddling their thumbs spouting political nonsense.
bill has morphed into alcy.
Very cold down at Spurs, 1987 bloody hell was it really that long ago.
I think the fact that ticket sales for the Spennymoor and Bishop Stortford games had been available to purchase online and presumably therefore at the club offices until just recently has caused the disquiet, why would they be removed if things were going to remain as they are for the foreseeable future? It’s back to suck it and see time which is where we were a couple of weeks back, I however remain positive things will get sorted very soon in the club’s favour to remain at GP for the remainder of this season.
All religions are man made, no exceptions despite what bill reckons.

Do you believe the impressive medieval buildings built to God’s glory are nothing more than man’s folly in not understanding the true meaning of faith and understanding how to follow Christ than JI? Again I’m always impressed by the old cathedrals and minsters but never understood why they were built the way they were from a religious perspective, they come across as more of a power trip message to keep the people in check and to fear religion not embrace it as you do.
Some of our fans live abroad so find it difficult to attend games, however some of those fans follow the games on radio Humberside or even on live TV stream so are well able to form an opinion on games and whether the opposition managers after such games accurately reflect how the game played out, in the fans opinion of course.

Absolutely WG and Michelle will be well aware of that and pursue that avenue if it’s allowed or appropriate in the football clubs case.
Well explained JI, I still don’t get it but I’m only human after all and there is no other living intellectual species to compare humans with, myths, legends and maybes don’t cut it for me.
Been to York minster today ( been a few times ) still can’t work out what such a beautiful ornate marvellously constructed building built over several centuries, has to do with a religion preached by a poor carpenter over 2000 years ago with equally poor fishermen as hangers on. Seems so over the top to me.
Well done bill ignore the point being made as per norm.
Lottery winner is pie in the sky, we need solid investment, I’m sure Michelle and her board will be on the case, we are totally in their hands I believe but she is a proven businesswoman with a solid record, in Michelle we trust.

Always remember that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
But equally, no one is obliged to sell if they are not happy with the price offered.
Good points but also remember how long can Swann wait, rent for the ground withstanding how long can he wait for the money, any money?
Maybe we should play Promised you a Miracle when we score.
Just to remind you IFA, Woolies shut it’s shops in 2009, Pick a different shop window please.
Opinions opinions so much better then negativity, we’re getting our forum back as well as our club

“Facts”. I mean, it’s clearly an opinion. You don’t have to rate him but 30 goals in the SPL last year is a fact.
Fair point about last season I was referring to his time playing for us in terms of consistency and yes it’s always an opinion but KVV disappeared for periods and entire games sometimes but he was a goal scorer so rose tinted specs usually apply with them.

No grudge just facts.
Butterfield is more consistent, KVV never was, that’s the difference between a class player and a show pony.
Brian has been in the directors box the last three home games, nice to see him looking well and supporting the Iron.

All about opinions of course but for me Bennett is a more physical player than Whitehall who seems to try and buy a foul rather than stay on his feet, Bennett certainly better in the air.
I’d like to see Elliot more central, I fell he’s a bit lost in the wide position in the 4-3-3. I think he’d get back to his best centrally and a couple of goals behind him.
Absolutely agree he doesn’t look confident at all playing wide, second to almost every ball first half, woeful overhit passes throughout the game and his only meaningful contribution was the glancing header that went narrowly wide. He’s a better player then that, we just haven’t seen it enough yet
