Apparently so. Also, I think on one of numerous documentaries I recall that Wilson wanted to up the ante after appreciating Revolver so much. Which would make sense. This was on Jools Holland the other week. A quite beautiful rendition, both singing and piano – that little bridge between the chorus and second verse (which sounds like a key change but isn’t) is deep:
