I’ve just read your OP again as you suggested. Main thing I took away was the massively irrelevant comparison to the death of Diana.
You’re not going to see it as much in those other settings you mention because they’re not as highly attended as football (shops pubs and cinemas aren’t large sporting events). There’s a good article about the issue here:
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fans-medical-emergeny-stadiums-fulham-b2004017.html
Can’t see one comment out of hundreds that are anyway near along those lines either.
Lol, I don’t ever recall anyone telling whatshisname (Mick Dewer?) to pipe down in the OSG DRE in the late 70s/early 80s when he’d spend most the match berating the players and ref. A few catcalls from a safe distance maybe…
Awaywego, From the hundreds of replies to numerous Twitter posts about last night’s incidence, I can’t find one person that thinks stopping the game needs to be eradicated. Example below. Amongst a small percentage of anti-vax conspiracy theorists the vast majority merely wish the unfortunate individual well. You may pride yourself on having little empathy, as you’ve stated in the past, but surely you’re not completely devoid of compassion?
Stewards are currently clearing the area to ensure the emergency services can safely transfer the patient from the seating deck. Further information regarding the game will be communicated in due course. #SAFC | #SUNBUR

I reckon if you took a poll on that at any sporting stadium you’d be vastly out voted. And rightly so. In essence you’re advocating disregarding one person’s life over delaying an event by 45mins. Wow, what an inconvenience. By the time they’ve got them out and to hospital they could easily be dead. But hey, a few thousand people got home a bit earlier. If it needs eradicating, as you say, I’m sure there’s more informed people than you at a stadium to make that decision.

Apart from stating facts about Macc and wishing them well, are there any other points you’d care to make about your last post in relation to SUFC Renee?
Wasn’t the last time we were scoring steadily under Hurst?
On a better night! The frequent figure of 1,200 and something in SET the next night was a depressing sight.
Cheeky so and so ain’t he?
The only way I see an increase in average attendance in the National League is if one or more happens:
1. The club assemble a squad capable of playing attractive football in the upper echelons
2. The club dramatically improve relations with supporters and other key stakeholders
3. The club dramatically improve the matchday experience
4 The club offer tangible and attractive incentives to get lapsed supporters back.
At present, I have no confidence in any of those materialising.

Just want to clarify Ferrite that I’m not ‘clutching pearls’ or being ‘puritanical’ about this. I’m not averse to a bit of over exuberance and wild celebration but there’s good reasons why fans are not allowed on the pitch, period, and I’d rather not see a return to the 80s fences or before that hordes of malicious opposition fans surrounding us and occasionally kicking a few innocent heads in. For every Hereford you’ve got a Luton v Millwall and it’s impossible to know who’s on the pitch with good intentions and who bad (don’t think you’ve got time to conduct a survey of them before they scale the wall). If everyone stays off the pitch, it’s better for everyone and less chance of an escalation and ugly scenes. Apologies if this seems a bit sensible and not geezerish for some on here (not you btw).

‘Players have been hit by stuff chucked from people in the stands – are we to ban people from stands now?’
Now there’s a straw man argument, along with the Hereford reference. I don’t pine for the stinking latrine at the side of the OSG’s DRE but I still miss the OSG.
I am quite confident that the average home game crowd will go up next season unless we managed to stay in div2.
What’s your confidence based on?

This is why it’s important that fans stay off the pitch.
When did we get so precious about the pitch? Who cares if a few people come on the pitch to celebrate a goal?
Who cares? The players and officials who don’t need the aggravation and chance of being assaulted?!

You could have saved writing all that if you’d have realised a long time ago that he perhaps doesn’t care what you, I or any other supporter thinks. I reckon there’s more evidence of that than cowardice.

Apart from that awaywego you’ve questioned Hill’s integrity while pointing out that he wasn’t in a managerial post before Swann appointed him. Every chance he’s trying to balance the two; keep his integrity whilst keeping his job. It’s not difficult to understand is it? You’re quick to point out supporter shortcomings towards players but are happy to claim Hill has no integrity.

You’re casting a lot of aspersions on Hill there awaywego. Not sure how much of it is fair and accurate tbh.

Then he’d be paying rent to himself, in effect? That would show up on the accounts presumably?

February 20, 2022 at 10:18 pm in reply to: Petition Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Council #232431Just out of interest NLI, who is ‘we’? Are you representing a supporter group? Apologies for prying and ignorance. Merely curious.
Nothing. YET!

Living lard bucket 🤣
Great pic -state of him 😆. That coke hasn’t suppressed his appetite I see!
I was being sarcastic with awaywego Pat (as I’m sure he well knows), hence my refererence to Saddlergate (another fine mess he got himself in to). It’s just a bit of fun 🙄
‘For next season, keep the young uns, Rory’
Can’t see him staying when he gets an offer to stay in the league on better wages at a club with a better atmosphere and prospects. And who would blame him?2 users thanked author for this post.
