Don’t know about that site but on the Facebook group someone last night was calling for one on the pitch, but by this morning had changed his mind; something about not having time to produce a banner? As has been previously acknowledged, there’s a lot of rubbish on there, so who knows?

Think Southend have until 16 Jan to pay up, unless it’s paid already?

I think a few did say that, yes. Bear in mind though, one was probably Big J!

People in EU states watching the UK and seeing what a lousy job it’s making of leaving? Like it was ever in doubt. Pity so many were duped in to thinking Brexit was a good idea.

Didn’t know that. That’s terrible. I only look in on it occasionally tbh and can see it looks pretty toxic. Simon seems to post a lot of replies on there. That’s mainly why I look in.

Agreed, though I didn’t read it that Simon was ridiculing, just responding and maybe a bit exasperated with it all. I’m sure he appreciates the support, that’s why he took the time to respond and explain it? Just my opinion.

Maybe it’s just that a lot less older Iron fans went to away matches in those days? Less disposable income, less interest (we were the pits before 83 promotion). It was all a bit rougher back then. Take your point though. Definitely more older quota going in recent times.

Instead of 5 days, he might have 5 years, stuck on his eyes. And I bet his brain hurts a lot. What little brain he has.

Which photos, the ones on the Facebook page? Not really looked much. I went to a lot of away matches early 80s but wouldn’t know them anyway. Don’t forget, late 70s early 80s it was often one coach load to a lot of matches apart from the biggies and those relatively close by. Generally speaking of course. Plus, haven’t the SAGA crew got more time to spare these days?

Saw it all went off on the Scunny Fans Facebook group yesterday re Smurthwaite. And while it’s no laughing matter, difficult not to chuckle at someone saying they saw something about it on Bru, but can’t find the source?

    Simon responding to someone too…

‘you dont just pay any price and you have no idea of the money we are talking, then on top of whatever is paid how much do you think it costs to run it? These are all considerations plus any debts creditors and loans that may also require funds, im glad your not my procurement manager we’d be bust mate. Hasten to add we are trying everything and more to find a way to get this done’.

I’ll have a look later. I thought you might know more names awaywego, weren’t them lot ‘Townies’ like you? A bit younger than you maybe? Tbh, a lot of them only showed up for the bigger games. Can’t say I blame them. Never saw the bloke at the back with tinted glasses on and dark hair at that many games. But he always looked bloody menacing to me.

Recognise nearly all of them, but apart from Toppo, never knew any of their names. A real blast from the past. Takes me right back to the OSG. A few of those faces I’ve not seen since the mid 80s. Guy with the cap on; was he called Jamie? Used to go to a fair few away matches without that crowd. Do any of them lot still go to matches awaywego? I can’t pick out a single one.

Thought we played some good high tempo football at times with a lot of energy, drive and fight. Could have had 5? Cool finishes. Maidenhead looked very poor – better sides would have capitalised on the chances they created. Still, a good Iron performance. UTI.

Ah, that’s interesting, this ‘lost boys’ angle was very well covered in the first series of the excellent White Lotus on Sky / NOW, that I’ve just finished. Basically, a high flying business owning mum, tries to excuse her screen tech obsessed son with poor social skills as being a victim of a ‘woke agenda’. Like, ‘it’s him we should be emphasising with!’. Hilarious.

I wasn’t suggesting your post was a ‘wrong un’ JI. Yes, I might have a look again at some point but tbh, if I need to work harder to understand concepts, I’m not sure I’m really inclined to, at this stage of my life. That goes for both Philosophy and Theology concepts btw. More interested in concepts that are easier to understand quickly. Then again, I’m not searching for some absolute truth.
