Do I believe he wants to sell? We may get a better idea if the dickpicker’s consortium make an offer and it’s turned down aswell?

Maybe it’s a lost cause for them, regardless of upping bids? Who knows? However, I’d prefer they didn’t let the naysayers and ingrates contribute to them throwing the towel in. That is all.

‘Keeping it real’ means not making assumptions about negotiations that we’re not privy to and giving Simon and Ian a bit more credit for the amount of time, effort and investment they’ve already given. Not too much to ask is it?

Do you even know if they’re getting any feed back about their bids and why they’re being turned down? IMO, you’re making too many assumptions and reading between the lines too much. If Swann isn’t going to sell to them, he isn’t. But don’t just assume it’s about not having enough funds. I think they deserve a bit more than being glibly told to step aside and make way for some unscrupulous git to take over.

‘Look, I’m working on the premise that Sharpe and co just haven’t got the funds needed, which looks to be the case’

Exactly! Your premise is a big assumption. How do you know that’s the main reason he’s not selling to them, and how do you know there’s a ‘set price’??

‘One of them has to be be on hold while the other is sorting something out.’

    And you know this how??

If you can’t see that’s a quote from WG I was replying to then there really is no point bothering. Plus, I’m sure no one’s interested in seeing tit for tat. Enjoy your evening. Giving up on the pair of you.

Just this alone: ‘either they have the money or they don’t and if they don’t then simply back away and let somebody else press forward who have an actual chance of acquiring it.’

Why on earth do you think Simon and Ian continuing in their pursuit is holding anyone else up, reputable or not??

No point in bothering to explain awaywego. If that’s the way you and WG perceive things at this stage of the game, then there really is no point. We’re all entitled to our opinion, I just think yours and a number of posters on social media is pretty distorted based on what we know.

Totally agree Siderite. Cherry picking the highway code did amuse me though. Hopefully JI will see the funny side of that one.

I’ve seen a number of posts on here and other social media telling Simon and Ian to just pay the money. Ridiculous and pointless. Not even going to begin explaining why. Shouldn’t need to really.

Just to add, obviously the Trust would need assurances from the club regarding any donated funds and how they’re spent (not sure how feasible that is) before they launched an appeal so they can assure potential donors in the ask. That would make for a more successful appeal and offer donor confidence. Have no idea how easy it is to ring fence funds from a body like the Trust to a club under a winding up petition though. Maybe something the Trust would know?

Apart from fundraising via the Trust with funds to go to the club (ring fenced for staff wages maybe?) didn’t Simon say on the radio yesterday that they’re still looking for consortium support? That’s the other route I suppose. Just a suggestion.

Sensible post MKI. Through the trust as a constituted body reduces the risks to the fundraiser, and assures donors their funds will be spent how they’re intended to be, as long that’s clear in the ask and has been agreed in advance with the club. There’s also no reason why an individual couldn’t link their individual fundraising efforts to a Trust appeal via a fundraising platform like Just Giving. Shame the trust isn’t a registered charity that could benefit from additional gift aid but I still think it’s the best vehicle, for what it’s worth.

Could ask bpg to do it but he might just think it’s part of a neo-Marxist ‘great re-set’.

‘I don’t exclude your good self in that appreciation, Deerey, because although I found your response the bleakest and saddest of all the replies I did appreciate your searing honesty. I do hope it’s not the last word on that for you.)’

Not sure what you found bleak and sad about me not being so interested in new philosophical and theological concepts JI? Think I’ve heard and read enough to stick thanks. No one seems to offer much new or meaningful to me tbh. In my later years I’m more interested in things in this world like spending time creating new music and exploring new music, reading more novels, trying to understand current political, environmental and social phenomena, understanding my kids psychological needs, etc. Don’t see much bleak and sad about devoting more time to less metaphysical gubbins! I’ve realised my time is better spent squeezing as much activity like this out of my remaining years than thinking too much about stuff that may or may not be true and which has little bearing on me or my family once I’m dead in any case.
