Well I don’t think Pat O’Cake’s coming back. Still looking for those toys he threw out the pram.
Anyone would think they had bad reputations with no potential the downer you have on them 414
July 6, 2024 at 11:37 pm in reply to: Yet another…’what have you been listening today?’ Thread #287725Much better from England. Quality pens and good save from Pickford. Saka was fantastic. Pleased for him, the squad and Southgate. Job done. Switzerland have been better than that in previous games but credit to the England set up and formation for changing that. Subs should have been made earlier IMO but got over the line so I’ll take it.

Rene has mentioned following Spanish football in the past WG, possibly even living there, relying on streamed or radio commentary etc. So no, it’s not a parody account, Bad Apple, etc, etc

It’s all relative. Have any of those predicting mid table seen the squad playing together yet or checked out the quality of the other clubs yet? I suspect not.
What’s a ‘mystro’ awaywego? A car?
WG, You can’t put awaywego in the moaning about not being sustainable and not spending enough. He’d rather we spent bigger and faster than a binman who’s won the lottery.

Not difficult when you miss as many decent goal scoring chances as France have crested. Not seen more skied shots from a team of their calibre in the the tournament.
Your glass has been standing upright on the draining board with a millimetre of old dishwater in the bottom for so long, it’s just evaporated.
Our constituency, Hexham, has just returned its first ever Labour MP. Had been blue for the past 100 years.
Marvellous!
Bit like Macclesfield.
‘they need to reconstruct their party to provide a decent opposition at the next election to Labour.’
They absolutely do. I’d vote Tory if it was necessary to keep Reform at bay in any constituency I may be living in.
Take into account how many were perhaps protest votes taken from the Tories (yes Labour too but to a lessee extent) and how many secretly wanted Sunak out due to racist tendencies (comment from that campaigner on the C4 undercover doc?) but wouldn’t say in public, I wouldn’t fret too much. That’s not to underestimate them and I’m not tarring then all with the same brush. Immigration and anti-wokism is high on their agenda but personally I think there’s a bigger emphasis on dissatisfaction with the Tories. A lot can happen in a few years. Meanwhile, I’m just happy the old rotters are gone

‘the gates will reflect that over the course of the season if we don’t recruit some quality. It’s a fine balance between cost saving on wages and loss of income if the football is poor.’
Results will have more effect than quality. If we’re playing well and losing and not challenging for auto promotion the gates might drop off. You seem obsessed about the loss of two players that don’t make a team. If it’s not quite as pretty but we’re digging in, players are putting shifts in and challenging for promotion; thats what people want, not hanging on for a Butterfield worldie.

I see. You don’t need to log in for the games either. Unless you want to.
Why, does he have an undisputed reputation as ‘Honest Keith’?
That’s why i was saying to some mates the other day England was on Friday! At least I’m not going senile.
You must be one of the few Brits who has a subscription to the NYT, Ironage. :-)
Wordle, but I can control it, I know what I’m doing.
You don’t need a NYT subscription to play Wordle and Connections you know.
‘Arrrrgh! It’s the end of the world!’
As we know it- and I feel fine.
Ironies abound
Yes awaywego, let’s take ‘Keith’ Alexander’s word for it, distrust our own club’s version of events and use it as another stick to beat it with. Like a stuck record

I predict another season of ‘blame the ref’ when we lose or draw; conveniently forget or ignore them when we win.

Hello Mr Bucks. Are you receiving me?
A better organised and fitter squad could count for a lot. Perhaps a little ‘lighter’ on paper but a fat lot of good having a better squad on paper did us last season. Key will be working better as a team and there’s no reason to suggest that the management team can’t get the best from them, particularly as many now know each much better.

Pleased for your new found clarity IRONFROMAFAR. ‘Not doomed’…just ‘pretty much fooked’.
‘Including how Labour will force you to abandon your cats and dogs’
Result! One less dependent is just what I need. And a cuppa tea and a slice o’ cake.
I hear awaywego’s offered to contribute some dosh to get him back
Not sure I’d say it’s anti semitic. Just opportunistic, ill judged …. and silly. Smacks of desperation I think.
Whoah, hold hard, how’s that supposed to fit Gurney’s narrative??

Well yes, though views on whether or not there was intentional antisemitism are merely that unless some evidence emerges that it was (I.e. a verified email or text between Conservative party comms staff, for instance).
