Only caught the last 10 mins. Seemed a surpassingly open game and we showed more intent going forward than we have in the previous 5 games. How the hell did loft fluff that chance?
Job done anyway. Thank god it’s almost over.

The horrific football and the possibility of dropping into non league- however excruciating- isn’t my main concern at the moment. Football is cyclical and at some point we will be due a stint in tier 5. That I can begrudgingly accept.
Meanwhile, Nothing I have seen about the land transfer fills me with confidence: from reading Swann’s statements, articles in the telegraph, Simon elliot’s tweets, points made on this board and information on the grapevine. There is no precedent (as far as I know) from a a club of similar stature to us benefiting from such a move.
I think an organised protest is abit much at the minute and it’s something I won’t attend, for those that wish to do so then it’s their prerogative; however the Chairmen does need to be continuously scrutinised on this deal by journalists/humberside/iron trust/podcast/ fans forums, whomever that may be.
The more transparency the better.

Have you actually read the statement? Simple question.
Have you read the statement in 2015? Still waiting for a response on the other thread

Be interesting to hear uptheiron’s view on that statement.

I’ve seen no contracts as I suspect none of you have. Yet plenty of you are on here speculating about what it says.
Of course we are speculating, it’s of huge consequence to what happens with the future of the club. I can assure you that the fans of Bury, Macclesfield and Darlington wish they speculated a little further.
Can the Iron Trust be used as a bridge between the supporters and the boardroom?
Remember when Lee Novak was your biggest headache, Barton?
We wouldn’t be in this mess with Hurst in charge, that I am certain of.
The codheads should be used as a shining example of what years of mismanagement, egocentric decisions, and a lack of investment in the right areas can do to a football club.

Luke waterfall has been our player of the season
We’re not capable of defending either
Yep, good call

Never seen the Newport pitch with grass on it before
In fairness, I don’t blame him.
This team isn’t capable of breaking down decent teams and the only success we’ve had is defending Deep and nicking a goal.
Despite Swann’s attempts at reassuring supporters, I find myself becoming gradually more concerned about the issue. Few Rambling thoughts:
1a) At what point can they club afford to pay rent? This is a vague statement; is there contractually a point in which the club is obliged to pay rent.
1b) At this point- how much is the rent?2) What happens when the land inevitably rises in value? The Gallagher retail park has expanded ever since its creation 20 years ago; Couple this with the potential of the Lincolnshire Lakes project and Glanford Park/Land could worth a significant amount more than the £11million debt wiped off- a debt mostly accumulated due to reckless spending by the owner.
3) Will the club see any profits made from the development of land or does this go into the Coolsilk pot?
4) What are the actual plans for the ground? I attended the consultation some years ago now in which the club released a blueprint and a couple of architect impressions of the exterior- since then however, as far as I’m aware, nothing else has been shown. No interior impressions, nothing. What are we actually building?
Good post above, Josh. The suggestion about the club moving to a Brownfield site is something that has always appealed to me. My only other suggestion for location would be the land where Brumby Hall currently sits- I have no ideas if there are covenants protecting the facility etc but it would put the club right back at the heart of the community again.

It can’t be anyone but Gillead .
I wouldn’t bother with awards this year though
April 25, 2021 at 12:12 pm in reply to: At what point do we consider the manager is the problem? #205452Neil does swap the team about too much even if it is not through injuries, but I have not seen another team get injuries like we do.
The injuries we’ve suffered this season is mind boggling. I understand more games in a shorter period results in more muscle injuries- but we have lads hardly playing games like Olomola/Jarvis/Turan constantly injured.
We put the tools down before the game at home to Southend.
We will get what we deserve
Putting the positive cap on momentarily, I’d assume it makes capital lending more accessible and favourable if intend on redeveloping the ground and the surrounding area? Also will the 300k a year we paid in interest now be put towards the playing budget?
Two questions about that: how can the club borrow money if it doesn’t have its main asset as a security? And will the club be charged rent instead of interest?
1) If I remember correctly it was something along the lines of Coolsilk having access to more favourable rates of borrowing money than the club would. The club wouldn’t need to borrow anything. Obviously that then leads to the question of what benefits does the club gain from having its land being developed on.
2) the obvious answer is Yes. What the rent could be is guesswork. That also leads to the question of what happens when Coolsilk eventually sells up…

However, I share the same sentiment as you Daz; a lower league club with no assets is not often a winning combination and it leaves our future firmly tied to that of Coolsilk.

Howard has been a huge loss for us.
The 2nd half of the season he has improved his ability to come out and collect crosses too, so that argument is redundant.1 user thanked author for this post.
The issue with the players dropping off in terms of motivation and work rate has conveniently started when allegedly contracts have been offered/withdrawn. We saw it when we were top of league one and no we’ve seen it with these no hopers.
Its only an assumption, but is Cox waiting until we are mathematically safe before making the wholesale changes?
Sacking him at this stage is a pointless endeavour. I’m far from convinced thus far with his tactical ability but at least he has had a year to work with the core squad whom will be here next year and will have some understanding on additions needed. The signings under his stewardship of Karacan and Taft were a vast improvement on the dross bought during the summer and there appears to be a working relationship with Swann JR and the transfer committee- which is an achievement in itself.
The outcome whoever in charge seems inevitable regardless.

A shameful performance; minimum requirement is effort -which for the majority of the season has been there- however, for whatever reason, that has all but vanished.
It’s inexcusable and there’s no reason the majority of those leaving should play the remaining games.
Enough of the sound bites now Cox: Drop them

It really is a chore trying to watch us play. Loft mid placing a 4 yard pass sums it up.
Thankfully the codheads and Southend are beyond useless to give us a reprieve this year.

Howard will be a crucial signing for us. He makes the odd mistake but it’s not a coincidence we are conceding 3’s and 4’s again with him injured.
The hypocrisy holds no bounds when you see the likes of Sky peddling the narrative that the Super league is the enemy against the fans. This was always going to be the next logical step after the premier league. At least the owners of the big clubs are so Blatant in their disregard about fans it hardly feels like a betrayal.

O’MALLEY—5—No defender should score more than 5, because they cannot defend.
TAFT—6—Played ok.
Brilliant work!
Get that man on the coaching team!
Who I’d like to keep but will probably go:
Gillead
Eisa
Mcgahey
Howard
KaracanWho needs to go:
Turan
Jarvis
Mooney
Mcatee
Clarke
Van Veen
Dales
Olomola
Hallam
HippolyteRealistically we could be left a core of:
Watson
Onarisie
Bedeau
Taft
Rowe
O’Malley
Beestin
Hippolyte
Spence
Green
LoftThat first 20 minutes was an utter farce, only comparable to the opening 20 minutes of the Bradford game a few years ago when we went down.
I can’t see 2 of the bottom 3 mounting enough points to overtake us but it really is a depressing finish to a difficult season.
This is almost comical to watch it’s that bad.
Could easily end up 5 or 6 hereIn terms of more than one not pulling their weight during the last few games-I’d definitely say there’s a few more to add to the list.
However, the work rate has been there for the majority of the season and is in fact probably one of the only reasons we are not heading to non-league.
The real issue was highlighted last night- we have players at this club which aren’t good enough.
1997 – 2013 Messrs Wharton & Wharton.
2013 – present Peter Swann.
Should we get a grip or shall we just get another chairman?
True- but I also recall supporters calling for Hurst’s head after 5 games on here.
