Not sure how much you can read into it at this stage but Oldham are the first team in the bottom 9 we’ve played.

That coupled with the return of Van Veen, Clarke and possibly Mcghaey should see us steadily get some points on board.

First 30 minutes we would’ve folded in previous games; players stuck with their shape and grew into the game well. Shows what abit of experience gets you too; Onarisie and Brown were superb at the back. Thought Clarke looked massively off the pace but just heard he only trained yesterday, so fair play to him for having the bottle to get Involved straight away, he’ll only get better.

Eisa, Gillead and Beestin impressed; no idea why they didn’t double up on Eisa second half? Van Veen proved what the difference is at this level, those moments of magic which can turn a game which we have been desperately missing. Great finish for the 2nd.

Only complaint today is that we need to stop letting teams get easy crosses in the box, on another day Oldham would’ve scored from one and it seems to be a recurring problem.

Overall though a relieved Iron fan tonight!

The proposal of fans representation at boardroom meetings is a start; the key is appointing someone with the understanding of what the majority of fans are feeling and the confidence to challenge Swann.

The rest of the statement was just bluster and didn’t address the root cause of this shambolic start-the scatter gun transfer policy

This is a massive game for us and no exaggeration to suggest it’s a must win. Oldham, like us, have been a poor side for some time now; they were dreadful when we played them earlier this year.

Hard to suggest a line up with so many injury and fitness concerns but a half fit KVV trumps any other fully fit striker. I’d like to see Hallam featured in some capacity too.

Rob was superb.I agree with him 100%.Swann is the definition of incompetence.
On the other hand i thought Matt Dean was pathetic. He seemed terrified to let Rob say what he,and a lot more people, think of Swann.

Understand the need for balance but he couldn’t wait to interject the caller; probably anxious about the wrath of Swann.

The guy on the radio summed things up well and did well to keep his cool. COVID has f**k all to do with our current predicament and everything to do with blinkered decisions at a boardroom level.

“Turan is awful where did we find him”.

A quick look on Wikipedia should have been enough to make a decision on him!

Same with most of our signings.
Complete cast offs with no pedigree for league football.

Highlights what a joke it was for the game to go ahead on Saturday.

It’s a false economy aswell to suggest it gives players time to recover from injuries when two thirds of the team have a disease attacking their respiratory systems.

Heath, bit unfair regarding Turan he had one full game upfront with Donkey Loft and not really had a sniff since…oh, and he wasn’t even really match fit.

I’d go Olomola or Turan with Kev playing a bit deeper once their fit. Jarvis isn’t a bad player by any means but needs to sort his finishing out.

    Why the obsession with Olomola?

Granted I’ve hardly seen him play but you seem convinced he’s the answer to our striking problems.

    Harsh on Loft aswell.

Disheartening to lose again but at least we actually looked like a team who could get something out the game. Finally getting some decent deliveries into the box and it’s a shame we couldn’t do more to capitalise- Jarvis should’ve buried that header first half and Green should’ve made the keeper work for his effort second half.

Beestin, Green and Onariase impressed. Howard had a good game overall but that howler was criminal and put the game beyond reach- really have to cut those errors out and quickly.

On a side note it’s a complete farce that today’s game should have been allowed to go ahead with half of our first team and coaching staff not in attendance.

    Two questions:

    1) If this guy is so good, why was he out of contract?

    2) A squad of 31 players, how is that manageable?

Can’t offer much on number 1. Played for Some good sides during his career but not accumulated much game time for a 34 year old keeper.

2- it’s not, in fact it’s beyond a joke when the club has hardly any income whatsoever and more indicative of the complete scattergun approach which is our ‘transfer policy’.

In fairness to Rory it was for midweek games and he did pull off a few good saves.

That’s about the only positive comment I could muster about the whole club at the minute.

    Peter Clarke is at Tranmere.

The amount of players we have on the books is ridiculous considering we are suppose to be in financial dire straights

Didn’t watch the game yesterday but had Cambridge on every Acca at the generous price of 6/4.

From the highlights We look soft as shit and confidence will be now sapped throughout the entire squad.

Worryingly I don’t see what the solution is; our scatter gun/cluster fuck of a transfer policy has left us with a bloated squad with little room for addition.

Cambridge were my dark horse picks this season; made some astute signings for this level including Wes hoolahan who is a great signing despite his age .

If we carry on from where we left off on Saturday it could be another hiding.

I imagine they would create a fifth league sitting between League 2 and the national league or something along those lines.

The greed shows no bounds with even the suggestion that it could be on the table when clubs are at their most vulnerable.

First decent side we’ve come across and rightly got a tonking for our efforts.

Not good enough in every department again and FGR showed how a side dominant in possession can effectively press a side and not just head sideways or backwards

And Just play 2 strikers at home for god sakes please.

Happy to defend the side to the hilt when they come home with the 3 points like last week but that was a really poor performance against another poor side that was there for the taking.

Could see the method behind the madness first half, overload the midfield and push the full back forward to compensate for the wingers tucking inside. Unfortunately we ended up with an overcrowded middle, too many sideways passes and no-one in the danger area. Felt sorry for Loft again.

2nd half was pretty much shambolic and we had no plan B. Cox has to take responsibility for that and move on.

Looks a good signing from the short amount of clips watched. 5 goals from 18 isn’t a bad return for a midfielder either.

The main focus should now be offloading players; with so few u23 fixtures there is no need for such a bloated squad, if anything it will probably cause Cox more problems having to omit 10 players every week from the match day squad.

I think we’ve got a real problem with expectations as a supporter base

No expects us to romp the league. What is annoying a lot of people is we’re not getting what we were promised.

    He’s had 3 League Games!!!!

All I wanted was for us to have a go and at least try and play in a positive manner.

Not playing Eisa because he’s too positive is an absolute disgrace.

Play the best players in their positions and let them do their thing. All I want is passion, work rate and for our best players to be playing where they should be.

I don’t expect 3 nil wins every week.

I don’t think expecting that is too much to ask.

BS. real supporters views? Do we have fake supporters?. A real supporter wouldnt spit his dummy out and threaten not to attend if Novak was in the team.

The same Novak who banged 2 in for Bradford yesterday aswell.

Give them time Mick, it’s worth remembering that Cox has no managerial experience anywhere near this level so everything is a work in progress.

One thing is clear from the players interviews and the performance today and that’s he’s got the dressing room behind him and they’re willing to put the work in to grind out a result.

Really made harder work than what it should’ve been by retreating into the trenches after 70minutes, hopefully that’s something Cox drills out of them because more often than not we’d have conceded there.

However, credit where it’s due. There was so much hard work, determination and effort out there today. Excellent defending, especially from beadeau, cordner and Onariase when he came on.

MOTM was Watson. 3 brilliant saves that kept us in it. Pleased Rory has had a positive start to the season.

Difficult to lay into Hornshaw when he’s only being used a makeshift right back.

If push comes to shove next week I’d be looking at playing Mcghaey at right back and O’Malley Left back.
