Good post apb- sums up my feelings at the moment.
Rock bottom will definitely not be the national league with Swann at the helm; crowds will continue to drop and sooner rather than later I wouldn’t be surprised if he completely cut off life support.

Unless there is some major recruiting (to be done ( which we are know there won’t be) then we are as good as down.
Got young kids stepping in to try and save the clubs football league status; hard to criticise but it’s a ruthless game and they should not be playing.
Trying to win a professional game with: no strikers on the pitch, a sub standard right mid/striker masquerading as a fullback and 2 academy graduates is just pathetic.
Carlisle are pulling away so we could soon be stranded after this month.
Cheers Peter

Read a couple of articles stating Loft
links up play well and has good ball control. They are probably his 2 worst assets. Our local journalist’s are about as accurate as our strikers these days

If Swann was there on Saturday he will know that whoever replaces Loft can’t possibly do any worse, at least the young lad will be trying.
I’m amazed to learn that Barton was there on Saturday and still signed him, unless Barton & Weaver tossed a coin and the loser had to sign Loft.If Barton was there on Saturday then it’s baffling he still pressed ahead with the deal.
You know it’s written in the stars that will Loft will send us down last game of the season too.

Loft- at the moment- is an 8 goal a year striker. Apart from a superb second half performance against Oldham he has contributed precious little this year. In addition His link up play and control for a big lad is abysmal. It’s a shame he didn’t offer more because he has all the attributes to be a good lower league striker.
Saying that, it all depends on who replaces him. A young lad from an u23 team probably isn’t going to cut it in a league 2 relegation dogfight.
Agree Mick.
It sent alarm bells ringing when we brought on the young academy lad for his debut in replacement for Loft. Looked to have raw talent but in no way should be expected to turn a game around for us- especially one as important as that.

Really disappointed with the result.
Terrible communication at the back put us 1-0 down and never had confidence we would get the 2 goals despite having the lions share of possession. Poor decision making in the final third throughout, Howard never really looked troubled.Carlisle were another poor side and we’ve gifted them a result today. Need to get some quality in this month

Think the Oldham result has skewed opinion. Still woefully short of quality and need 3/4 players minimum to have a hope of staying up.
Huge game tomorrow. After Carlisle we have 4 of the top 8 to play. Need to get some points on board now as draws at
Home against struggling teams aren’t enough.Carlisle really struggled with Jarvis at their place- would be tempted to stick him up front with Loft with Bunn sitting in behind.

Can’t agree with CBRP over getting rid of Perry. He is certainly nowhere near the finished product but a guy who can pass a bit like Tony Curry yet needs to toughen up and have a bit better overview of games is well worth persevering with.
Besides, he only has a dozen first team games under his belt. He is guaranteed to improve with experience and building up muscle tone. Our centre mids are currently:
Perry
Hallam
Hippo
Pugh
Beestin
Wood
Hackney
Rowe
KenyonIdeally, Wood would be sent back and Hallam would be released. However, no-one is taking Hallam so at least with Perry someone might take a punt on him with a free transfer or a loan.
Feels like ages since we’ve played at home so it’s disappointing in that respect, but in the grand scheme of things this will do little harm. Longer time for the players to recuperate and we are going into another huge game against Carlisle on the back of win.

Cannot see Swann clearing the EFL loan and backing Hill with a competitive budget whilst we are still a third down on crowds.
Stand to be corrected, but I’m sure he mentioned during the season ticket holders meeting we were expected to lose a £1million this year.

My expectation when appointed was that we were within touching distance of the chasing pack come January.
That expectation has been met and surpassed with the improvement with fitness and performances too.
Best manager we could’ve appointed at that time and gives us a fighting chance at least.

Keeping Bunn fit could well be the difference between league 2 and the Bananarama League
Brilliant result; such a relief to see out of the bottom 3 aswell.
Hill is working minor miracles since he’s been here: players actually look fit (which is a joke when that’s an expectation) and great to see us go for the 3rd and kill a game off.

According to the chief executive,
we had 400 responses or there abouts, from the fans survey, 200 of these apparently stated that they would not return due to COVID concerns. We are roughly 800-1000 supporters down from our usual average attendances for the past 25 years, some of these will be staying away due to the shite football, a substantial proportion will be staying away because of Swann.
The club/Swann are unwilling to see what is happening in front of them, therefore they have no hope of remedying the situation. Token efforts of goodwill are now transparent as nothing comes to fruition from them, the shareholder/season ticket meetings have appeased the growing sense of unrest amongst the fan base for now.
Personally, I have given up hope of anything substantially improving now under the Swann’s. It is looking increasingly likely it will be non league football for us next year and we all know that we won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Good header of the ball and his sliding tackles are usually second to none. However, the main reason for him being so good at them is probably because he gets turned so often. Perhaps injuries have taken their toll? Him and Taft are not working as partnership for me at the moment either.
Saying that, Seen enough of him to know he’s a decent defender at this level as he’s previously performed well. Hopefully Hill can get him firing on all cylinders again.
Best headed goal I’ve seen in aeons from an Iron player and Jarvo was oh-so-close to a second.
An absolutely magnificent header, like Paul Baker or Duncan Ferguson. More of that please!
On the negatives, if Onarise is one of our better players then we will get relegated. He’s good in the air but terrible on the ground – with and without the ball.
Not been impressed recently with him recently, on his day he is one of our better players but his level of performances are falling short for me.
Talk on the terrace wasn’t favourable about Loft today.
Be surprised if he’s still here after January
Can’t disagree with what’s being said above.
Thought the conditions dictated for the most part the tone of the game. Best 1st half I’ve seen from us in a long time and we deserved the goal. Weirdly, Millen has a fantastic delivery on him, great ball and a good finish from Jarvis who overall had a decent game.
So disappointed we didn’t get the 3 points but Bradford had the chances to win the game and we rode our luck again. Hill is definitely starting to get a tune out of this team though and there were times when we would have folded under Cox and lost that game. Plenty of commitment and desire on show- just need the players to start believing in themselves to go out and finish a team off.

Think a postponement is definitely on the cards, and in all honesty, wouldn’t be a bad thing for us.
Gives Hill another 10 days working with the players and 1 less game to lose before the January transfer window.
Desperate thinking, but that’s where we’re at.

Can’t argue with most of that, WG
I think one of the things that most frustrates people about Loft is that he’s got the build of a target man, so people expect him to be good at; linking up play, heading and possessing a good first touch. He has none of the above.
His main strength seems to be playing on the shoulder as he’s got a decent turn of pace for a big lad, he left the Mansfield defender for dust before fluffing that 2nd chance. He also scored a couple of good goals last year which involved him running through the channels.
His last 2 performances in particular have been nothing short of shameful and I’d be disappointed if he wasn’t benched for Saturday. However, there is potentially a player in there. Hopefully Hill can get a tune out of him.
I’m not berating Hill, for those on this thread who still think he’s the messiah.
But I did read post after post when he was appointed about how he would tighten things up, make the players do this that and the other and generally, we were saved.
We aren’t saved by a long way.
All I’m saying is, going by the maths, we’re down.
Again, show me posts where posters thought we were saved when he was appointed.
The general feeling I got, and my opinion also, was that he was the best appointment we could make at the time.
He’s got the track record to prove so.
More than happy to take a point from that. How the hell Orient didn’t bag 4/5 I’ll never know.
Taft and Onarisie were dog mess tonight. Why do players like Taft regress so much whilst at the club?
The midfield diamond seemed too congested and no-one really knew how to play their position. No centre mids we’re covering the wide areas and left Thompson/Millen exposed all game.
The only real positive I can take from tonight was Scrimshaw’s Performance when he came on.
Alcazar- show me one post where anyone thought this would be a miraculous turnaround? Hill’s got some job on his hands and it’s damage limitation till January. Stop pinning this on the manager when he’s had 3 league games ffs.

Don’t know how Millen slipped in there.
Of course Rowe right back. Not a fan of Hippolyte at all Mk. Granted he’s improved during the last 5/6 game, but I’d much prefer to see Beestin in.
Brilliant news.
The boardroom has lost all vision and direction (other than down), something had to give.
Simon can hopefully become the bridge between boardroom level and supporters and go some way to bringing an identity back to the club.

Good idea.
We were heading in a similar direction but the chairman statements about returning the ownership of the ground back, the shareholder meetings and the appointment of Hill seem to have dampened efforts.
I’m not sure how long I can buy into the not fit story for Kenyon, he couldn’t get near the number 8 for their equaliser and he wasn’t exactly full sprint.
Still gutted after yesterday’s game. We are so far below the necessary standard, it’s scary.

You can’t go to the games if you expected a bounce with this lot.
If Hill keeps us up it’s a minor miracle.
1 user thanked author for this post.
Nowhere near good enough. Don’t care what anyone says- we are 3/4 signings away from staying up.
Shocking.
