We’ve already got 2 contracted right mids in Roberts and Law. Can’t see either leaving.
Didn’t we sell roughly 1300 under Hilton? I know there were some serious doubts by a few at that point, but he still had the majority of supporters on board.
What would be a realistic figure this year ?

DSF going a disappointment , maybe Law and Roberts under contract influenced this?
Surprised we have offered so many deals tbh as I was expecting a mass exodus, encouraging signs if only a few of them agree a deal.
Agree 100%. I like football under Nelson and considering what little we had we played attractive, attacking football. As you said though, all the progress was pished away when Jimmy came.
Now I know you’re making it up. Even The win against Halifax was a painful watch. The point against Bromley was the only game we looked like a footballing side.
Prefer them to Macc. Leamington only just over 2 hours away too.
Not many away grounds I’ll be looking forward to next year apart from Alfreton and Farsley.
Stuart Maw for one of his raffles ?
Bromley have sold over 15,000. There’s a huge catchment there and eventually they’ll probably end up being an established EFL side.
Best of luck to him. He’ll have a competitive budget so no reason he can’t make it a success
The statement indicates that budget was an influence in the decision, it could imply both.
Not sure, something has certainly happened during the last few days. If he was going I’d imagine it would have been announced on Monday. This seems to have come out of the blue.
The game was Saturday, Sunday was a rest day for all concerned.
Perhaps not all of the Board was available for a meeting immediately on Monday, so it was held over ’til Tuesday (or whenever). If you’re running a Board that is seriously co-operative then you wouldn’t just ‘fire’ someone from the important position of team manager and announce it like flicking a switch. You would discuss the whole situation and make your suggestions for a new scenario without that person (and with someone else). You would want to discuss and negotiate with the person who is leaving etc etc etc (particularly if, as seems to be the case, it was a contract not being renewed rather than a sacking). I don’t think announcing it a mere few days after the game indicates ‘something happening’ this week that is untoward. It seems to me to indicate Michelle and co have handled it calmly, decisively and relatively quickly. Professionally, in other words.
By something happening I was indicating to a disagreement over budget rather something untoward.

Looks like the contract wasn’t expired after all according to the latest podcast. If so we are potentially paying off another management team unless a clause was inserted within the deal.
Hardly inspiring.
Right decision, but sad to see him go. Tried restoring some pride in the club after years of people intent on taking it out.
Wish him and his staff all the best.

The iron bar is not fit for purpose, and never has been. Wonder if there’s scope to extend/build on top?
And just continue to try and enhance the match day experience for supporters. Perhaps utilise the space behind the DRE more to create a proper fanzone.
No

I’ve nothing massively against the bloke but I can’t understand where all this ‘he’s a really nice guy’ stuff is coming from. Based on what?
Speaking with supporters most games in the exec lounge and allowing the players to be more accessible; Offering the chance for younger supporters to train with the players; refusing to accept the gofundme money unless the players received their share; working for 2 months without pay or expenses.
Probably lots more anecdotes this year but these spring to mind.

Thought today was a microcosm of Jimmy’s failures for us this year; failed to respond what was happening on the field and too rigid with tactics, for too long.
Very strange to sit so deep and allow Boston to play through us, were we worried about pace ? The subs arrived 10 minutes too late, we were far more direct with 2 up top. Midfield looked disjointed as it has for large portions this year, it may seem harsh given our points total, but there has been warning signs all year against the better sides.
Ultimately you can spin it how you wish, unfortunately I can’t get over the fact we have spent 3 times (possibly more) than anyone else. That is a failure.
I thank Jimmy for his efforts with us if he were to leave, he’s really tried to change the culture at this football club which has been toxic for a number of years. He’s clearly passionate and loved being the manager of Scunthorpe as if it were one of us in the hot seat. But IMO we need someone with more tactical nous, there will be a reduced budget next year as we all know, if we have failed to achieve promotion this year then I see it highly unlikely Jimmy will achieve this aim with significantly less cash at his disposal.

Only a section. We may have had the same part open for the Chester game ?
Agreed MK, the amount we’ve spent there’s no other option but to let Jimmy go if we do fail.
Whatever league we are in, I’d imagine the budget is going to be cut. However, The early indicators suggest the club is very much heading in the right direction off the field and I hope we continue to push for community engagement and build the fan base up.

Middle blocks of the main stand virtually sold out too.
That’s not accurate, the reason all those seats are greyed out is because they belong to season ticket holders, they’ll remain that way until the deadline for season ticket holders to reserve their seats for Saturday’s match, if they don’t they’ll turn green and become available to purchase.
That’s not accurate either; a large proportion were available on Sunday until word got round non season ticket holders could buy tickets. Subsequently they are now nearly unavailable.

Was busy this morning with people queuing up outside the ticket office.

A statement released by the EFL countering claims they were not part of the decision making process.
With regards to their statement, if player welfare is high on the agenda then they’ll be placing on record their opposition to the expanded champions league schedule and pre-season tours of America and Asia.
Macc town often got sub 2k whilst in the football league, their support base has been revitalised under the new ownership.
The hospitality area looks fantastic too, maybe some years away yet, but would like to see GP modernised in a similar way to bring in extra revenue.

Common sense prevails.
Well done to the moaners

There’s a fair amount of moaning on here, it’s nothing compared to twitter, one guy has stated that the club not selling tickets until the National league will allow them to will knock “500+ off the attendance”.
I’m unsure how he knows this and furthermore why would the club who are desperate for every penny they can raise do this on purpose?
As I stated earlier, any genuine supporter who genuinely wants to be at the game will be!It really isn’t rocket science to understand, unless you’re being a contrarian for the sake of it?
Ridiculous decision by the authorities. 3 days to sell tickets for one of the biggest games of the year isn’t fair on supporters nor the club.
Again, I don’t understand what isn’t “fair” here? Are people just frustrated that they can’t post a screenshot of their ticket on their social media? Why do you need a ticket a week in advance of a game which won’t sell out?
Apollo has summed it up adequately.
Just to add, it will potentially put a few punters off too. More so the casual supporter rather than the 4,000 there week in, week out whom will obviously still get a ticket.
It’s a strange decision all round.
