Perhaps, in recent seasons, it was felt that the youngsters were not of a good enough standard to replace the senior pros. The clubs solution was to recruit enough players of such a poor standard that the youngsters had an opportunity to improve the team. Sadly, because we used too many at the same time, that didn’t work.

mick, surely if you can exchange texts with Lee then we might expect that news of any important activity at the club would have crossed the ocean also.
(A cynical supporter on CT’s login)If the budget is the same but restrictions are lifted then it will allow Hill to wheel and deal as he wishes.
Oldhams board have accepted the blame for relegation
Oldhams board have affirmed their budget will be the same
Oldham have begun signing playersCan you see the differences?

No comment on the really interesting bit?
This bit is interesting:-
“In a statement made by the Oldham Athletic board in the aftermath of relegation to the National Conference, they accepted responsibility for relegation which “represents a total failure” and that the budget for next season will remain the same.”Fair point but Mussy and Daws have had plenty of time and haven’t produced a first team regular between them recently. Can’t remember the last one, Sparrow maybe?
When you say Howe and Muldoon have ‘got there’, can we afford to give our youngsters 10 years of contracts hoping they will reach NL/Lower L2 level by their late 20s?

I would like to know when the season starts, and when the fixture list is announced.
I think that’s the sort of information you’d expect to find on the club website isn’t it?

Will they have to buy a season ticket to become a member?
Sure he is, after all he’s a league player now. Wouldn’t surprise me if he isn’t a league or two above L2 either within a couple Of years. Always a player in there, just we couldn’t find it.
He’ll have to learn to play for somebody other than Hurst if he wants to go higher I reckon. Good player – bad attitude IMO.

Jacqui Oatley is excellent. (And much more easy on the eye than Martin Tyler and Gary Neville)

“If you want Swann to answer your questions, then send them to him.
As you well know, he never posts on here.”We have had the answers that Mr Swann wants us to have via Lee and Neil. That’s not the issue here.
You’ve decided that another relegation is acceptable then?
It seems the waters are being muddied, possibly deliberately. The strong probability is that Lee and Neil answered questions, to the best of their ability, based on information given to them by a third party. Knowing the probable source of that information it can be of little surprise that some fans have doubts about the accuracy of those answers.

I’m a Scunthorpe ‘lad’
I love the club to bits.
Can I have a contract please.2 users thanked author for this post.
Not the first close season signing I was hoping for. A sign of things to come?
I think you might get your wish Ferrite/Deerey, Hill has declared himself to be no fan of the loan system so a maximum of 2 or 3 might be his preferred option.
I see that some NL clubs with ‘intent’ (Notts County/Oldham) are already signing players. (I was going to refer to the other clubs as rivals but I expect our real rivals to be at the other end of the table.)
Come on Keith – get moving!!!!1 user thanked author for this post.
Why don’t some of you find another hobby that gives you more enjoyment. I don’t think Football is for you.
The football we’ve endured over the last 3 years isn’t for anybody!! (Except you maybe)

My guess would be at least 1019.

So 1000+ fans have shown their support, is it time the club showed that was merited by way of signings?

I think UTI99 has bought 200.

Small things maybe, but big enough to make me jealous!!

As we were in the EFL the club would surely have received plenty of criticism for hanging on to players that ultimately proved to be NL standard.

“When did “footy” become acceptable? Soccer’s fine but I draw the line at footy!”
Harks back to childhood Ferrite, I went to the park to play footy. If I’d suggested to my mates we had a game of soccer I’d have been left behind.
Possibly because very little he has said has turned out to be true? Why would we think the podcast statement is any different?

Don’t know if Hill knows Dieseruvwe from Tranmere. Looks a handful and can’t get in the Cods starting 11 but scores a few when he gets on. OOC at Tranmere – a possible?
If you need to score 5 to win games in the NL then next season could be a bit tricky. Takes us about 10 games to get that many.
