Where did I mention anything about an increased budget guaranteeing we would get promotion? I said it would improve our chances, as a general rule of thumb teams with higher attendances (budgets) are in higher divisions. Obviously there are exceptions like us when we had a few seasons in the championship.
I see you’re back hoping the question I asked has been forgotten. FYI I repeat it below.

Answer as soon as you can, it’s not a difficult question.
If we sign one of the triallists we could line up with:-
Foster
Rowe Boyce Taft Ntlhe
Feeney Beestin Gallimore/Cribb/Moore-Billam O’Malley
Hallam Nuttall
Not great and little in the way of backup apart from youths.
Add to that the recent fitness record of Taft, Ntlhe, Beestin, O’Malley and Hallam and it could mean that fans arriving early would be advised to take boots.Irrespective of accuracy here, Cass, we surely cannot get strikers of any worth at all for less than £1,500pw and probably nearer double that.
Kyle Wootton on £5k pw certainly makes you worry about what we might get even for £3k.

I wish!!
I think you must be right about Beestin les. It seems Hill doesn’t fancy Taft much (could be vice versa) so it looks like £800 – £1000 could be our maximum for the coming season. Let’s see what we can get for that, not much maybe but there’ll be plenty of players that wouldn’t make £40k-£50k p.a. outside of football.
Sorry we’re a bit behind Ben but we are too concerned about what’s going on (or not going on) here to get involved elsewhere. When our 6 major signings are announced and we sit top of the NL the Bruers will be out in force on theconferenceforum so please be patient.

16 of the top 20 earners gone, NI bang on!!
Facts are facts though. If we’d sold 2000 season tickets Hills budget WOULD increase!

Possible scenario:-
WS “I’ve got a possible target for you Keith”
KH “Has he played for Rochdale or Tranmere?”
WS “I don’t think so”
KH “Not interested”If names on twitter are right then it looks like Keith might be looking to reassemble an old Rochdale team.
Maybe only on Grimsby wish list in case Waterfall didn’t sign.
If he’s allowed to play his own attacking game (not as a WB) then I think he could be an asset. He’ll probably be cheap enough too. CONDITION:- If he was one of the “don’t want to play in case I get injured” party then don’t bother.

Morning or moaning?

Welcome Tom, you started off very well then let yourself down a bit after “massive worry.” Happily you recovered and finished strongly.

I think Andy Dibble has retired. Shame they could have built an interesting squad.
Does that include the ground?
He’ll be there to countersign the contracts of the 8 new players that Keith has lined up ready for the return to training.
Excuse me for being thick, but why eight days?
Most contracts aren’t up until 30th.8 players in before pre-season training starts (in 3 days at time of posting) is what les is hoping for. He knows, as we all do, that it’s very unlikely to happen but his optimists hat sits firmly on his head. Mine is already in the suitcase on top of the wardrobe.
All last summers signings now gone but the chief scout, presumably a major contributor to their recruitment, still remains. Keith Hill said in interview that current recruitment is down to him with possible recommendations from Lee Turnbull, Tony McMahon and maybe even Andrew Boyce and (unbelievably) Dan Gallimore. One significant omission from that list isn’t there?

Would he come for 10 bob a week and a portion of chips?
He might if you included a fish (not cod-too expensive) and guaranteed they were from Grimsby not Scunny.
He’s settled in the area so we could be his best/only option unless he’s happy to drop several divisions. Surely we’re still paying more than Cleethorpes and Barton. Not sure where Wilson will fit if he gets in but surely Shrimpton is behind Beestin, Gallimore, Cribb & Moore-Billam in CM. Then when we sign the 2 new CMs, which we obviously will, he’ll be even further down the pecking order and unlikely to get a game.
According to twitter were after a striker who’s been plying his trade in national league and has scored a mind blowing 13 goals in 7, yes SEVEN season’s at that level.
I don’t do Twitter WG, only the SUFC one on the off chance there’s something on there that’s not restaurant or season ticket based. Where should I be looking for the more interesting stuff that you find?
Saw Deere at Walsall circa 68 where he played left wing (left midfield for our younger viewers) Took my mate, a Manc., to see our star player, Dave Sloan, only to find we’d sold him and replaced him with George Kerr.
I’d rather judge on ability.
With the exclusion of football club chairmen.

Worth every penny though!
Sounds like you’ve had too many doubles already.

In a list of necessary signings for next season an 18yo keeper shouldn’t be in the top 50. My pessimism will deepen further if this proves correct.

A respected sauce mick.

If it takes £5k per week to bag Wootton then I fear our team of players on less than £1k pw will struggle to compete.
