Why single out football fans? If a cinema continually plays poor films people will stop going, if a restaurant regularly serves low grade meals then people will stop going. They’re not being fickle they just don’t think they’re getting the quality they expect for what they’ve paid.

I was filled with relief when I read the thread title. Then I read the posts and realised I needed new glasses and it said backed.

October 4, 2021 at 6:19 pm in reply to: Harrogate away, time to show our fury as supporters? #214782Why don’t you raid your piggy banks and buy Swanns shares?
Somewhat less likely than Cox sending a team out to play attacking football I guess. Anyway, shares in what, there’s nothing left is there?
We need someone to buy the Club, build a new ground, fund a team to challenge for Championship football and…. oh, hang on a minute, will there be another one about? No, maybe not. Some substance to part of that, Mullen & Madden for example haven’t dropped to NL to further their careers.
Regarding McAtee, maybe he could be starring for us if properly managed. However, apparently we can expect an announcement on ground developments in the next few weeks! It’s great to get an old favourite like that back!
I might be a cynical old b****** (OK I am) but what if the announcement is along the lines of:-
“Due to Covid and the lack of fans support the plans to develop the ground have been further postponed/completely shelved”1 user thanked author for this post.
Cox post match:-
” I can only apologise for the second half performance and the lack of passion shown. I’ll be in working them hard to try and get a result (at Rotherham) on Tuesday.”Well done on ‘trying to get a result’ on Tuesday. Sadly we already know what that result will be. Still, as long as they train well on Monday I suppose that will be OK.

Only one quality required to manage The Iron – be a yes man.
You have too much time on your hands.
Mr Swann – please put the club up for sale. It appears to be the only thing which can save us.
Understandable sentiment les, what exactly is there to sell? Here’s a list of my estimate of our assets:-

The latest in a long line of players whose ability appears to have reduced after arriving at GP?
Away so nailed on back 5 with Davis fit again, best we can hope for is 5-3-2 but likely 5-4-1.
Watson
Millen Davis Onariase Taft O’Malley
Bunn Beestin Perry Thompson
Jarvis
1-0 down at HT (44mins) Jarvis/Taft off Loft/Scrimshaw on (85mins) Lose 3-0.1 user thanked author for this post.
I remember a few years ago our saviour was to be NZ international Clayton Lewis. We were all (almost) overwhelmed by a signing that would transform our team and fortunes. How many saw him play?

I had 10 minutes of optimism before Deerey posted, illusion shattered.
To me it indicates that, as with supporters, there is little communication between those in overall authority and those being paid to do the basics of running a business. Two examples – PS will not answer emails/letters personally, nor will he wash the seats at GP. He is told both things are done and leaves it there even though supporters tell him differently.

But the manager must be allowed to back his own judgement surely – if it is his own! He obviously thinks that Shrimpton, Jessop, Wilson etc are not yet ready, the puzzle is why he thinks Wood & Hackney are. I can’t believe he’s seen a lot of Scrimshaw either, is it the chief scout that’s giving him these wonderful gifts?

” A couple of players who can lift the team, make things happen and most importantly, stay fit would make all the difference. OK, they may cost a few quid,”
IIRC somebody with knowledge of the EFL loan rules said that the outstanding loan meant we could only sign players on a free.

Also difficult to polish and sell on a rough diamond if they only have a 1 year contract.

I didn’t know Joe Pasquale was an Iron fan.
Perry is there to pull the strings, sadly he’s discovered that most of them have snapped. (Or been cut maybe?) Also some, as in the case of Beestin, have been tied in the wrong place.
Is it possible that people (except UTI99) might deduce that the completion of a 10 year plan is close?

Think he’s scared of showing up, he’s a narcissist, rather like Mr Trump he doesn’t react well to criticism even when he knows it’s his fault.
Knows it’s his fault? That’s the trouble – apparently he doesn’t.

Lucky we didn’t lose by more than 4 vs Exeter so we’ve had some luck lately.

At the end of the day we can criticise whoever we want but the main problem is the players aren’t up to league two standards – end of
There we have it, the reality. We have ownership – disinterested, we have management – clueless and we have the players. Now this might seem harsh but of the 18 strong matchday squad who has proved, beyond reasonable doubt, (not necessarily in an Iron shirt) that they are L2 standard or above?
Taft, Perry & Beestin – that’s THREE!! 3 out of 18, little wonder we’re where we are is there? In fairness Cass I don’t think he is ever likely to say much different, although his summary of events is somewhat different to the impression I got from the match commentary on the radio.
Its like his pre match comment about having a good week in training, he’s unlikely to come out and admit it was a crap week.
As the weeks go by it becomes ever clearer that he has no idea how to improve things, unfortunately I’m afraid its time for him to go although as that would cost money I doubt it will happen.Exactly my point vader, same post match every week because nothing ever changes. “Good” week in training followed by the same dismal 90+ minutes on match days.

Same old post- match bluster then:-
Cox said:-
“We’re just disappointed with the goal.
We didn’t play very well
We conceded such a poor goal just before half-time through people not doing their jobs
We’re getting in those positions but it’s that final pass.
There was nothing between the two teams.
I’ve just told the players that we have to be better
We’re learning on the job.
We have to learn from these situations, such as how we could have prevented their goal.
We handled their strikers, but one disappointing moment cost us.”Do you want to copy and paste this for next week Neil?
“The rumours today is Peter Swan as left the club or leaving.
There is a group of Chinese people looking to take over.”Is it the same mob that offered £4 million for KVV?

I might replace Pugh with Perry but never with Kenyon. I rate him higher than Wood, Pugh & Thompson in MF.
Our players have considerable difficulty passing to a teamate without making it more difficult.

We seem to have an ongoing problem getting players fit and then keeping them fit. Season barely started and we’ve had/got unavailable:-
Billson, Millen, Davis, Thompson, Kenyon, Bunn, Hallam, Jarvis, Loft, O’Neill & Collins. Plus some I might have missed and Perry & Scrimshaw (possibly) isolating.
Add to that the 3 or 4 (or more) not good enough, 2 or 3 not quite ready and squad rotation is almost impossible without significantly weakening the starting 11Came on, but yes, he could have started.
That would have made it Beestin, Wood, Perry, Pugh.
Not much width there.
Which makes the decision to bring in two CMFs on deadline day at the expense of a wide man even stranger.Perfect for the old diamond though, I’m just a believer in picking your best players in their best positions and using a system that fits that. Better than picking your system and making the players fit that IMO.
