Do you mean because I say the truth and speak sense?….. and because I am successful in my football life and have no one chasing me for a penny, or maybe because I have been voted the best catering facility in our league, being mentioned on the media several times in the north east and Derbyshire?… unlike your tin pot, mickey mouse, happy shopper, fifty pence outfit, that has been a laughing stick with the smoking goat saga… so please a bit of respect.

Is a laughing stick a Ken Dodd thing?

If Jerry did punch a guy three times in the back yesterday then the guy should have turned round and broke Jerry’s nose, you never know it might have made him easier to understand when he’s verbalising.

    Unnecessary, that.

And exactly how could he not have started him, all he had to do was put his name on the team sheet.
In a game where we had to be positive, you said we were a little bit negative says it all.

His name was on the teamsheet.

Despite his vociferous critics, Beck would have been a really useful addition yesterday. I’d go as far to say, we may have won it.

I agree with this. He has the physical presence we lacked yesterday. KL were shithouses, some dirty stuff going on, and I think Beck might have soaked some of that up. However, he was injured and there’s no way Butler could start Whitehall – so we were in a little bit of a negative from kick-off.

Despite his vociferous critics, Beck would have been a really useful addition yesterday. I’d go as far to say, we may have won it. Could have held up the ball and provided valuable flick ons and be an imposing threat from those corners. He’d have sucked two defenders in to free up the likes of Mo and Roberts to make runs.

I agree… The chances were actually there to win it, despite the well below par performance, the clown show at the back and the total inadequacy across midfield.

Highlights of yesterday now up on KLT YouTube. It reveals that Scunthorpe had plenty of clear chances to score – Beestin, Roberts, Evans, Federa etc – and in a couple of them you might even be tempted to say we were unlucky. As I thought yesterday at full-time, this league is generally shit, it’s down to who can tough it out and who is most clinical and composed in front of goal. Its not us.

Anyone got any clue as to what Iron Bru-er Matt Ellis is hinting at in his recent comments on X?

    It was Evans.

Yes, I believe Evans was involved in something going on too. But I was talking about the absolute dog’s abuse given at length, and aggressively, to Whitehall. He kept his cool extremely well.

Apparent today, as has been for the vast majority of the season is that we are too lightweight in midfield. Scales in particular was absolutely woeful today and gave the ball away every time he received it.

I haven’t seen Scales pass the ball properly for weeks, now.

Honestly don’t you believe Stu deserves criticism over ticketgate

I’d imagine he’ll be quite embarrassed when and if he reflects on it. If not, then that’s what might deserve the criticism.

I don’t know either Jerry or Stuart personally but clearly they are massive Iron fans. Can we accept that, stop the unnecessary sniping and just concentrate on the football. Thank you. UTI.

I think sometimes humour is missed. Sometimes a joke is made because there’s a joke that can be made. The humour is sometimes in the technique or mechanics, sometimes in the ridiculousness – and in those instances the subject matter of the joke is almost secondary to the making of the joke.

    But in general, I agree.

As if they dont employ enough down there already lol.

Though i dont believe they’ve filled the Hospitality and event manager they were advertising for back in January.
    More the merrier.

They certainly need to sort elements of the hospitality. It’s been a decent enough experience on the occasions I’ve had the good fortune to go – but the food was almost CSE Home Economics level.

When he was doing videos I did message him about the effect they were having in creating an upsurge in abuse, doxxing etc when people like him sent out toxic messages about fans who didn’t like Hilton, his reply was unrepentant. He said he’s not responsible for how people react to his videos. He’s right but it’s left me thinking he gets what he deserves now. Reaping what you sow.

    Valid.

It’s more or less the same thinking for catering points etc, I’d say. Contracting things out and charging a fee removes certain costs from your equation and you can actually end up with more profit than you otherwise might.

    Iam not.
But let’s go back to junior school, Treat it like a cake, one person in the room that person could have all the cake, 2 people in the room and your only likely to get half at best.
    Enough said!

If the Club was the organiser of this event (or others), the wage bill associated with spending time on admin and so on (plus the production expenses) could negate any profit. Let the outside organisation do the work, let the Club get what they can without blowing too much in the way of resources.

I wasn’t aware Vee Harness and the other two held any “position” at the club, I have seen her walk around upstairs like she owned the place and quite a few have asked who she is.
I assume it’s a matter of time before she comes out with “do you know who I am?”

Maybe the ‘position’ is just to offer counsel and contacts in exchange for the kudos.

Jerry has been, and will continue to be, a big help to our football club.

However, he is not a Legend and never will be. He should not be mentioned in the same breath as Staffy.

Never mind the fair to middling quality of his books, just for the dedication to research alone John Staff is a true Club legend. He’s unearthed and compiled so much information for someone to pick up and run with, to write the absolutely definitive tome about the Club, imho.

Andy Cole evening is just room hire along with the Bruce Grobbeler evening run by Nor Lait promotions all tickets from their web site, so no creaming anything from the ticket price, lost opportunity imo.

Unless you’re party to private business info about the arrangements made over room hire costs, how can you say it’s a lost opportunity?

He wasn’t always right in identifying who the toxic fans were and encouraged toxic fans to slander his critics.

    This too.

Good post by Lancs Iron on X
“Bury FC seem to have stopped arguing with each other and are getting the job done”
    Would never happen at Scunny

Hilton did get one thing right – there are some toxic Scunthorpe United fans.

There are a lot of double standards around some fan behaviour in the last couple of years, for sure.

I’ve had two encounters with Jerry in the last year or so. In one of them he was very rude, and in the other he was very pleasant in his own clumsy way. We all have good days and bad days.

IMO It was a bit of a strange appointment and im yet to see anything positive CEO Roberts has brought to the table.

Bike nights, Andy Cole evening, Tom Zanetti event, yada yada.

How well are these events being received re interest and ticket sales which at the end of the day is what its all about .. the Zanetti gig especially looks like a hot potato and far from being a certain success hope im wrong.

The first bike night was a success, by all accounts, but the second has been cancelled.

Andy Cole etc – not an attractive event for me personally, but a reasonable idea for the Club to host this sort of thing imho. Fingers crossed there are enough plastics (etc) to sell these out.

Zanetti – could do better than we think, the line-up looks reasonably impressive for jogging bottoms and baseball cap wearers. However, 10,000 people a day is a massive ask – and whether or not the event has a licence from the Council seems to still be a question.
