I thought Millen was doing pretty well personally, he was a bit lax defensively at times but had enough to get by and he was good going forward and had a more than decent delivery on him into the box.

Beestin should be in for Pugh…much better player, it’s not even close. Kenyon we need for the experience and he at least understands that position in front of the back 4.

Awaywego, it’s not the fact we let him go, we let him go without a replacement already lined up. That’s the unforgivable part.

I wonder if Hill said something he shouldn’t have and Swann got it pulled off air. As you say iron-awe, why did they have Watson’s yet didn’t have Hills ?

Did humberside coverage go to shit and then sort it’s self out for when Watson came to do his interview ?

This is the first time Hill said it was a hard watch and that the players just simply aren’t good enough, he said himself they’re all trying but just need some help.

I suspect this could get a tetchy if this is left another week with no more players coming through the door.

But when Swanny has put money where is mouth is it incurs debt

Awaywego, there is a difference between putting money in the club and then choosing to run it like a top end league 1/bottom end championship club and spending more than a 100% of what the clubs revenue is.

I think we can agree, that’s just pure negligence.

If Swann had sensibly and strategically put money into the club, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

It’s ok now Swann refusing to put money in the club because he’s supposedly safeguarding the club, but, it’s too late as the damage has already been done.

This is the time now when we do really, really need investment and he’s letting us all down.

    Wouldn’t you agree, awaywego ?

Green has done what he’s done at RB and Rowe the same at DCM but yesterday showed, against a good team at this level who know what they’re doing, the pair of them get dragged all over the place as they don’t know those given positions.

Time we go back now to play players where they’re more comfortable.

I still don’t understand no Beestin yesterday and no Jarvis, he’s the only striker we have who’s capable of holding the ball up.

If this Hill’s way of further nudging Swann to drive home we need players, he needs to be careful as the games are running out.

Wood should be getting sent back, not sure what’s happening with him. Turan is utter dog mess, last I heard we were talking with his agent to get him out on loan again. Perry and Hallam as far as I know are fit. Hallam definitely is as he got 10+ minutes the other day but just didn’t make the squad.

Hill did say we had a fully fit squad the other day, apart from Thompson..all a bit odd. Maybe Scrimshaw and Manny were not quite up to speed ?.

Not playing Beestin today was very strange. Jarvis the only forward we have who’s capable of holding the ball not picked.

    Manny
Kenyon and Beestin need to be back in and we need a natural RB playing now.
If we don’t get a striker in anytime soon, we need Jarvis up front.

I hope Hill doesn’t go down this crazy path of weird team selections, we’ve been down this road before and it never works.

I get keeping Rowe and Green because they’d done pretty well up until now, but no Beestin and Jarvis ?

Get Manny alongside Taft, Rowe or Millen at RB, Kenyon, Beestin and Jarvis back in now they’re all available. Hard enough as it is without leaving your better players out.

Gallimore instead of Beestin ?. That’s criminal

I suspect Hill may have had certain assurances before coming here with the promise of getting players in in Jan. All we’ve done is flog Loft with no replacement and signed a kid with no experience as a striking option.

You can tell Hill’s becoming frustrated.

You say that Barton but he’s supposed to be a right back/right wing back so he is playing out of position. I thought he was looking good there but today goes to show against a good side at this level, he’s positionally all over the place.

Rowe doesn’t fully understand that position, which is understandable as he hasn’t played many games there.

Green despite looking good at RB again showed today he shouldn’t be playing there. Positionally all over the place and doesn’t really understand the position.

I think it’s time now Kenyon comes back in, Beestin is in for Pugh and Millen is back at RB. At least Kenyon and Millen are naturals in those positions and I’d say Beestin is the best CM player we’ve got, if he’s fit enough for the bench then he should be starting.

Not criticised Hill at all, as I think with what he’s got he’s done really well up to now but today was a complete mess.

Next match considering we have no more strikers in, I’d go with this…

    Watson

    O’Malley
    Manny
    Taft
    Millen

    Kenyon

    Hackney
    Beestin
    Hippolyte

Jarvis “only striker we have who’s even capable of holding the ball up”
    Burns

Manny is definitely back next match. Kenyon needs to be starting as DCM is an especially important position on the pitch as he protects the back 4 and he has the experience. Beestin needs to be starting as he’s simply better than Pugh. Millen’s at least a natural RB.

I hope this was blip for Hill with this odd team selection today. I can understand he has limited quality options but at least play your best players on the day, we may have still got battered but least give ourselves more of a chance.

Davis is utter tripe, never been any good since he’s been here.

Onaraise coming back will make a huge difference.

Do you think it’s time now to play Kenyon in front of the back four, put Millen back at RB and play Beestin in CM in place of pugh.

Still doesn’t sort out the problems upfront but it would make us better. I haven’t questioned Hill since been here but if Beestin is fit enough for the bench, he really should be starting.

I don’t rate Jarvis but with having no target man type striker at the club, you would have thought he should have started with Burns or Bunn. I found that a little odd.

You can tell Hill is losing the will now. Hill is even saying himself the players simply aren’t good enough. Hill has done well to get what he’s gotten out of them but as Hill and we all say, they just aren’t good enough.

They seriously need help in terms of recruitment. Hill always seemed bullish and always said he would get what he could out of them until January so we could sign players and push on.

Swann had clearly given him assurances as to players coming in because there’s no way he would come here just to limp over the line in last place miles off the pace.

Swann seriously needs to get his arse in gear…he could quite easily pay Turan off for instance, get him off the books and get a player in on a free transfer, he really needs to start spending some money.

If Swann let’s the club go to shit without even a fight, he needs to be absolutely ashamed of himself.

This is complete shit by him.

Hill is much better manager than Cox, that much is clear but Hill is starting to get frustrated now…you can tell by his post match interviews.

Cox feels for the players as they’re giving him everything but they just aren’t good enough, even he’s saying it now.

Swann stated on the radio that Loft wouldn’t be leaving our Club until we had a replacement. According to reports Simon Elliott stated that Burns is not the replacement. SO WHERE IS HE, THE REPLACEMENT! Is this another Lie? We supporters should be used to being fed lies by now.

Hill said we’ve been trying before the window and this week to get a like for like striker in but have so far failed.

I get Calvin Andrew is a big n nasty but he’s hardly a goal getter, is he ?

I hope we get Jarvis out the door and get another striker in because it’s ridiculous to expect a 35yr old Calvin Andrew and a young youth player from Blackburn to fire them in. Scrimshaw will never be a goal scorer either.

If we get a promising younger player in for Jarvis who’s previous had league experience who’s done quite well in the past then fair enough, he’ll dove tail with Burns, Scrimshaw and Andrew.

    Crosses fingers !

I said Keith Hill used to love Andrew when at Rochdale but I honestly thought with lack of football/playing time and his age, I didn’t think we’d go there.

I thought he’d be too knackered.

I should have known different. One thing is for certain though, Hill will know him as well as anybody, in terms of what he offers and the type of character he is.

Hill has always liked a big and nasty, probably loves them more than his wife !

I suppose all Hill has to do is get a good half season out of him, it’s all we’ll really need him for.

Old Keith has always loved getting umpteen balls in the box and having a battering ram scrapping for it.

Will Andrew and Burns be the forever loved, little and large dream partnership ?

While we’re at it, I’d move Jarvis on and get another big n nasty. 2 big and nasties, 2 smaller strikers in Scrimshaw and Burns…bit cliche but why not ?

If needs must at end of the season and we desperately need points, we may witness the worst ever style of football played at GP by sticking 2 big n nasties up there and proceed to whack a million crosses in a match.

    Old Stoke style.

There have even been a few “good” comments. He was crap and one of the worst strikers I have seen.

I wouldn’t put Loft in the crap category, no where near. I’d put him in the “can’t be arsed club”

Nobody can possibly argue against the fact he has talent.

Said at the start of the season that if Loft was our main striker we were doomed.

This is what reported Charlie Wilson posted earlier on Twitter.

Charlie Wilson hasnt got a clue.

One of the bits he seemingly made up. Simon Elliot didn’t have a clue about the section we hoping to clubs to release players for us to sign on free transfers.

I suspect Max Bell “The Annoying Carrot Top” has been spouting drivel again. I think he’s still hurt since Swann kicked him to the curb.

    Told you !

We were in for him before the uncertainty over letting Loft go. I suspect we’ll have somebody in before weekend.

I do hope you are correct but I fear you are not

Don’t allow Alcazar to wear you down ! lol

This is what reported Charlie Wilson posted earlier on Twitter.

“Scunthorpe United are looking to bring in at least three loan players – Sam Burns likely being the first.”

“They also hope a few targets will find ways to become free agents, allowed to leave their contracts to sign for Iron on a free.”

Going by that, another 3 or 4 are due to come in.

This young lad that has come in isn’t the striker that’s supposed to replace Loft. According to what I’ve seen online we got in touch with Blackburn about Burns a little over a week ago and it was only 3 or 4 days ago since Swann commented about Loft staying.

Swann replied “we will only let Ryan go when we find a suitable replacement” so if we were so unsure about letting him go before finding someone else, I highly doubt the replacement is Burns.

I suspect we have another striker on the backburner who will be coming in, most likely before the weekend.

There ain’t no ‘possibly’ about desperately needing an extra CB for cover

I typed probably. I’m not sure why though because we definitely need another CB. Davis will be released regardless at end of the season, looks a busted flush. Injuries I suspect may have put paid to him.

Hill to get what he’s done of what he’s got is a minor miracle in it’s self but improvement from Hill only goes so far.

End of the day if the players are not good enough to produce in the final 3rd, no amount of Hill polishing will change that.

I think we’re all of the agreement we need 2 new strikers, A more creative CM and probably another CB.

Until we get them, I fear for us. Especially the two strikers.

Pugh’s not the greatest player in the world but covers a lot of ground and get’s the tackles in

    Same summary as Oldham game:-
    Runs around a lot
    Can’t shoot
    Can’t pass
No point winning tackles if you give the ball away again.
IMO he’s filling the space that should be filled by a creative midfielder.

Maybe try Beestin for Pugh then as he offers a bit more composure in there.

Beestin, Hippolyte, Hackney and leave Rowe sitting ?

If that Blackburn lad is coming in on loan, which looks like that’s the case, we still need another striker to line up along side him in place of Loft.

Another CB and a more creative CM wouldn’t go amiss either.

O’neil has gone on loan. Get Turan out on loan.

Not sure what’s going on with Hallam. Will he even be fit enough to start games in the future ?

Hallam could be the more creative midfielder we need but question is always fitness with him.

Thing is Swannster has said we’ll have to get by with this embargo. In my opinion he’s pretty much washed his hands of us, he may as well let somebody else in as chairman next season.

If Swann had any ambition left as chairman he would have cleared the embargo.

As a club we deserve better than what he’s offering up. I’d rather he admitted he’s done everything he can at the club, works hard to get interest “if there is any out there” and moves on.

Swann can give the ground back as well while he’s at it !

Need a few strikers and a more creative CM. We may just have a chance then. Beestin would probably come in for Hackney because I can’t see Hill dropping Pugh.

Pugh’s not the greatest player in the world but covers a lot of ground and get’s the tackles in and Hippo’s been in such good form.

I don’t like Davis at the back. I can’t wait for Onariase to come back in. I may be being a bit harsh as he’s been out for 5/6 weeks but I just don’t rate him at all.
