So if Zanzala turned us down doesn’t that prove that the loan isn’t hindering our attempts to sign players? We can agree to pay what clubs want but if the player doesn’t fancy it then the loan/budget is irrelevant.

I’ve said this further up in the thread but if we target players who are soon to be out of contract and the only way to get them in right now is to pay a nominal fee and we can’t pay them one…we don’t get the players in now and we need them in now.

Can you not see how that may be a bit of a problem ?

Targeting just loan players is all well and good but we need experienced loan players and that’s a small pool of players to choose from, hence why we need the loan paying off to provide us players in which we can attempt to sign.

How many experienced players do you think will even be left available once everybody else has gone over them ?

I don’t think many would be left. We need that loan paying off ASAP.

    Ferrite I’ve said before that Loft is a 5ft + striker, stuck inside a 6ft + body.

Loft to me looks better when he’s partnered with somebody who does their fair share of the donkey work. I must admit that despite being talented he’s a bit of an odd ball.

Big Job is a badapple creation. I find it odd that Badapple, knowing the character he is would just walk away from this forum and not have any other addresses to spout on.

    Sorry, not buying it.

I’ve also got inkling Alzazar is a creation from an rarely seen ex member of this board as well. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I have a fair idea.

Alcazar is probably a fans64 creation. I wouldn’t though put it past badapple to be behind both. I know his past record of this kind of crap, he’s well known for it.

The loan needs paying off due to fact we can’t pay any kind of fee’s for players.

If Swann put money into the club in terms of upped wages for a few to come….didn’t pay off the loan and we went in for players at the end of the window who are due to be out of contract, all other clubs would do is offer a nominal fee and we’d be rejected every time.

This is why it’s very important to get the loan repaid, pay Turan and Hallam for example to get them off the books and at least make a bit of room to then maybe pay 15k, 20k e.g for soon to be out of contract players to get them in now.

Does Swann not realise that by not doing a thing about it that it’s going to put the club more at risk if we go down than it is spending a bit more to at least try and stay up ?

At the moment he’s making John Fenty look like a saint !

If Hill goes back to fielding his best players in their best positions we’ll be a hell of a lot more stronger.

Two positions that really, really worry me is CD and up top. I think with Beestin, Hippolyte and Hackney in CM, that’s pretty solid at this level.

Kenyon will do ok in DCM.

I just hope Manny is ok because without him the other 3 drop to bits.

I just hope Burns hits the ground running upfront because Jarvis and Bunn won’t score many. Jessop and Big Bad Turan as the reserves.

That’s just plain insulting even typing.

You think the players on the lower end of the past great players list would run riot in this side.

Could you imagine what a firing Martin Carruthers would do up top with a fit Richard Kell pinging the ball around in midfield ?

It pains me to say this but past greats like Jack Cork would completely run rings around these lot despite being paralytic.

This is how bad it is now.

Not a system I’d normally suggest but maybe:-

    Watson
    Millen Onariase Taft O’Malley
    Rowe Kenyon
    Hippolyte Hackney Beestin
    Bunn

might keep us in the game long enough to sneak something.

Bad idea. Little Bunn up top on his lonesome, the ball would just come back all the time.

    I’d go with

    Watson
    Millen Onariase Taft O’Malley
    Kenyon
    Hippolyte Hackney Beestin
    Jarvis Burns

We surely need some kind of physical presence up front and Jarvis is the only real one who offers any, not really a goal threat but decent at holding the ball up at times.

We could go Jarvis or Bunn upfront but Bunn to me looks more like a link player, one who knits stuff together playing in the no 10 role.

Hill could take one of the central midfielders out and play Bunn in behind Jarvis and Burns but doubt he’d do that because he lined up with that at Mansfield away and we got overrun.

Jarvis and Burns up top ?

Manny, Beestin , Kenyon need to come in and Millen/Rowe need to be at RB now.

“Davis is awful, he reminds me of that CB we signed from Barnsley who looked like he was wading through quick sand.”

    Paul Reid?

Yes, that’s the one. Absolutely terrible, he was like the Chris Iwelumo of CB’s. The ancient immobile version we ended up with.

Paul Reid I’m sure is the one who went for a headed clearance, completely mistimed it and ended up going down in instalments while heading it in for one of the most dodgy own goals you’ll ever see.

Didn’t he somehow end up on his knees while heading it in ? lol

That’s the kind of natural ability he’s always had, which is all the more confusing when we’re so low on numbers and especially attacking quality.

No doubt certain fans will scoff at the level but it still takes confidence and composure to show that attacking intent/flair…something we really lack.

I still don’t know why no managers seem to not want to bother with him. Only think I can think of is a potentially questionable attitude because other than that, can’t see why he doesn’t play.

I hope Hill doesn’t go fully in the working like a trojan direction and doesn’t fail to acknowledge they actually need to be able to play football a bit as well.

Perry has been fit for weeks but can’t seem to get a look in now. I get defensively he’s a bit lax at times but I thought he looked best when he played in the no 10 role which freed him up for his passing ability, but as I said above he’s been forgotten about.

You know what I think about Davis and Manny holds Taft together. Davis is awful, he reminds me of that CB we signed from Barnsley who looked like he was wading through quick sand.

The one who scored that awful own goal via a terrible attempted headed clearance at home at the away end. I think Wilcox signed him…Paul somebody. Before the sarcastic comments come rolling in, Somebody wasn’t his last name, I just can’t remember it.

Davis is that bad, he’s been shite since day one. Cox signed him as club captain as well !

    God almighty.

Wilson’s gone on loan to Scarborough Athletic. I know at one point he had scouts watching him, he must have a questionable attitude when it comes to training or something because he has a lot of natural ability.

Clearly not rated here, never had a look in despite a promising pre season. Bit of a strange one where he’s concerned.

Clearly doesn’t really care. If Swann was that interested in giving us a fighting chance he would have paid the efl loan off and got rid of the embargo.

Swann also could/should have paid some of the out of favour players off and got fresh blood in but he clearly has given up.

Swannster is hiding behind the line ” I’m not spending money to put the club at risk, I need to safeguard the club “.

The questionable arse wipe forgets to mention that the damage has already really been done.

Would paying the loan off and a few players out of their contracts really put the club under any more risk ?

No doubt he’s putting us at way more risk by not doing something to avoid us going down.

I saw the Hill interview in which he stated, due to his past experience it’s better/easier to pick up players right at the end of the window.

In other words you should expect to see players come in who are left, who basically nobody else wanted = The left overs.

By the end of month we’ll probably already be down. No Scrimshaw or Loft so we’re left upfront with Jarvis, an untried Blackburn youth player and an untried youth player in Jessop who played earlier in the season and looked miles off it.

Big bad Turan I won’t even mention as he’s most likely not even deemed good enough to even train with the first team squad, wouldn’t surprise me if he isn’t the designated club boot scraper.

Swann is royally taking the fecking piss. I’ve said this before, but, why not try Beestin up top with Burns ?

I know he’s said himself that he see’s himself more of a striker and we know he can finish.

This is where we are folks..in shit creek and definitely without a paddle.

You can tell Swann doesn’t give two shits, if he had any pride in his role as chairman, The club or the fans, he wouldn’t allow this to happen.

Mk, last 3 loan spells at league clubs he’s played 47 matches and scored 8 goals. 14, scored 2 at Walsall, 16 for Newport and scored 3, 17 for us and scored 3.

Scrimshaw went on loan to Eastleigh in national league in 2020 season before he went to Walsall and played 9 and scored 0. Only club he was consistent at was Pool Town.

I just don’t think he’s very good. Brilliant attitude though !

Scrimshaw reminded me of Dagnall when he was here, ran around a lot and hard work rate through the roof but never effected games because he was never usually in the right place.

I suspect Scrimshaw will be non league next year as I can’t see a league club taking a punt on him.

I’d try and get Hallam out as well, as were well stocked in midfield and it’s a matter of time before he breaks down again.

Even Wilko’s are selling up, that’s a big clue even though he’s not involved anymore, allegedly.

Seen that on the news earlier reporting Wilko stores are to shut in Scunthorpe so the main one in town will be gone as well.

If he simply can’t afford to put any more into the club, I’d rather he told us all that and worked hard to get more investment into the club.

I just think a lot of the comments on here are aimed at one another and not about the football club itself.

I agree, that often stems from disagreeing with each other. Nit picking goes on up and down the country though on most football forums.

Swann played a blinder by arranging the season ticket/shareholder holder meetings and consequently putting the brakes on anything substantial happening.

It worked a treat. He suggested he’d pay the EFL loan up and that he would sufficiently strengthen the squad and has done neither.

Swann came across as passionate sounded like he was up for putting a real effort in to save the club. I was one of the gullible idiots that bought it.

Terrible fans = fans which constantly bicker, saying unsporting stuff to one and thus falling out in public with each other on this forum.

This goes on, on nearly every football forum up and down the country, if you don’t believe me then take a look.

What do you expect exactly, everybody to be best friends, to then meet up in public and go skipping down the road with one another ?

This is a worrying time as the clubs about to completely sink with a chairman at the club who looks like he doesn’t give a shit. I’m worried as is everybody else, as it’s a difficult time for all of us.

Football forums are about people airing their views and like in the real world, not everybody will agree with you, that’s just a part of life.

I don’t give a stuff if people disagree with each other on every single little thing, I’m more preoccupied on worrying about the future of the club.

Swann could have gone some way to unify the club and fans by clearing the EFL loan as soon as this window open to show us that he was committed enough to give us every chance of surviving.

After suggesting that’s what he was going to do only 3 weeks ago, he’s gone back on that and not bothered.

Swann also stated he wouldn’t let Loft go without a replacement in and what happens, he’s let go without a direct replacement in.

Clearly can’t be bothered by the looks of it.

Massive no. I think he’s an absolute disgrace.

Why should people spend their hard earned money and making a commitment when Swann can’t be arsed with the club ?

Swann could have put this right and got the the EFL loan cleared very early on in this window and had somewhat of a clean slate and got some players in but can’t be arsed.

If Swann did that at least it would have shown us fans that he was committed and wanted to give it a go at staying up but clearly that’s beneath him.

Give Swann till end of this week, if nobody else comes in then something needs to be done because we we’re definitely going down.

This is the same penis who said 3 weeks ago he consider paying the EFL loan off to get us out of the embargo, only to then go back on it and not bother even though we’re literally hanging by a thread.

I suspect he never had any intention of playing it off and just paid lip service so he didn’t get abuse hurled at him.

This bloke is an absolute disgrace, as I said above…give him till end of this week and if nothing is done, he really needs to get both barrels from all fans from all angles. Internet, on match days, radio and everywhere else he can be reached.

Swann is single handedly on the verge of completely wrecking the club.

As said before, post match yesterday you could tell he was losing the will to live. Hill openly said the players weren’t good enough and that they need help.

Also as said before, he will have been given assurances and so far they aren’t being met. If no more players are in, in a few weeks time then expect him to walk.

I just hope he doesn’t self implode and starts lining up with odd formations and leaving our better players out.

I thought Millen was doing pretty well personally, he was a bit lax defensively at times but had enough to get by and he was good going forward and had a more than decent delivery on him into the box.

Beestin should be in for Pugh…much better player, it’s not even close. Kenyon we need for the experience and he at least understands that position in front of the back 4.

I wonder if Hill said something he shouldn’t have and Swann got it pulled off air. As you say iron-awe, why did they have Watson’s yet didn’t have Hills ?

Did humberside coverage go to shit and then sort it’s self out for when Watson came to do his interview ?

This is the first time Hill said it was a hard watch and that the players just simply aren’t good enough, he said himself they’re all trying but just need some help.

I suspect this could get a tetchy if this is left another week with no more players coming through the door.
