Jingles …. that name rings a bell…
i recall TJS just odd Scotter bottom was one rental place and i drew the short straw to drive a shitty old white Leyland van away to either Darlo or Hartlepool.
Didnt one of the Scunny fans at that time win the lottery ?? Simmo a bin man if i recall correct.
I forgot about Simmo, yes he did, had a fairly substantial win.
Seem to remember he was in court for the the war against the cod’s in town.
Nearly certain he didn’t go down for it like some of the others did.
I also remember a match, close to Christmas that got called off about 2:45 because of torrential rain.
We were all on the way to the ground in taxis from the Poacher when it was announced so turned the taxis round and went back to the pub.Not seen Skelly for a year or so.
Those were the days, picking the van up 1st thing Saturday morning from Ready rent a van and off to wherever the Iron were playing.
The likes of Jingles and his brother Steve, ship and his brother young ship, big Aidy who famously fell asleep in the snow and ice on the open terrace at Belle Vue cos he’d had a few.
We called ourselves TVI, it stood for Transit Van Iron but some wag came up with Trent Valley Infantry for some non existent hooligan element, we found it amusing.
Home matches we all used to drink in the poacher and order a fleet of taxis for 2:30.
I remember playing Darlington at home and a load of there supporters rocked up at the poacher, one group lost the deposit for the van as Jingles put an empty beer keg through the windscreen.
Turning up at the Earl of Crewe for an early session at the play off game that Steve had organised with the landlord because we’d behaved in there a couple of weeks before, only for the word to get out that he was going to open up early for us, when we got there, there was dozens of Scunny supporters had beat us there.
Many more memories, always a competition on away games at motorway services on who could come out with the most stock but pay the least amount of money.Starting to get annoyed with this Patrick’s rambling and accusations on here.
There are no Swann fans on this forum, in fact the opposite is true and I take exception to your baseless accusation.
We have usernames on here because the forum demands it, we don’t have them so we can hide from the likes of you that has no connection with our club other than worshipping our current owner.
Is it coincidence that you’ve come out with the same comments as Hilton did when he was trashing us I.e, we all being Swann lovers and if we don’t agree with closing the academy then to pay for it ourselves?
No coincidence as I’ll take an educated guess that Hilton gets to know what’s posted on here because Patrick monitors the forum constantly and reports its contents to his friend Hilton, hence his unwarranted rant on Facebook against this forum.
Congratulations for the hospitality you showed towards our supporters yesterday, stick to acknowledging their thanks to you on the Ilkeston thread.
Your interference on other threads bad mouthing any supporters who don’t agree with your sons best friend’s decision on the academy, describing them as “The usual suspects” and accusing them of not being true supporters is neither warranted or deserved.3 users thanked author for this post.
How long has this Patrick0811 been a member on irnbru, since March this year. I guess he knew Hilton was going to take over our Club name. Who is he related too? Fair questions I think. Seems he doesn’t think questions should be asked or opinions had. Up to know Hilton hasn’t proved himself in my opinion as to what his primary interests are with our Club. If he really wanted success for our club, surely he like any owner whose heart was in the club, would not be squatting in our stadium and refusing to pay what he has previously agreed on so we do not lose our home. He has done so many uturns and all this uncertainty is not good for the footballing side and in my opinion will not create success.
This Patrick character is the father of Andrew Nally the chairman of Ilkeston and business partner of David Hilton.

Even my keyboard makes more sense than Patrick
He seems to be spamming nearly every thread this morning encouraging his love in with his sons best friend.
Anybody know if there’s a Greggs anywhere near the ground?
there’s one in ashby
You’re right Don, there is.
Unfortunately Ashby is nowhere near Ilkeston’s ground.
Clear off back to Egypt.Anybody know if there’s a Greggs anywhere near the ground?

A post unashamedly copied from a Scunthorpe United fan on the fans Facebook page, I await Hilton’s reply.
“David White whilst rationale makes perfect sense, how about you review the situation properly before make statements (or rather non official social media posts).
Firstly you scrap the youth, then a week later the kids are relieved that you have listened, now, so far down the line they will likely struggle to find a club now you have U-turned again.
How can you expect fans to be fully behind you when you don’t do your homework first and stick to a decision. We as fans are clearly going to have trust issues after the previous regime, and you are hardly endearing yourself to a large proportion of fans with the amount of on the face of it back tracking and changes in circumstances.
Oh and by the way, if you would rather invest to try and get us back to the league asap, why would you employ a manager with half a year experience at the level we find ourselves with no proven record, it’s almost our very own Ted Lasso when you think of it…”1 user thanked author for this post.
Just in case any of you need it explaining.
Today, Hilton (or one of his lackies) sent an email with an attachment to all the young lads in the academy informing them that he was closing the academy and they were no longer part of Scunthorpe United.
He didn’t even have the bollocks to do it to their faces the spineless, horrible excuse for a man.1 user thanked author for this post.
For balance: you are omitting Hilton’s claim on the ransom strip, the land valuation difference, the planning permission expiration and alleged farmers access issues.
I didn’t purposely omit them.
Could you expand on the three points please?
The three points that Hilton says exist but only he knows about, the planning permission was granted years ago but has now expired because the work wasn’t started, the ransom strip that nobody has ever proved the existence of, the farmers access that no farmer has ever claimed, it didn’t stop the planning permission for housing years ago so why should it now?
As for the land valuation, Hilton agreed on the price.1 user thanked author for this post.
The problem is Patrick,99% or more Scunthorpe fans are genuine guys,as you say.
Unfortunately the less than 1% are a substantial number on this site.
The majority of fans I speak to,and I ask,do you go on Iron Bru,they look at me with a blank stare, thankfully. Two things.
Firstly, you are stating that a substantial number on this site are not “genuine guys” which would explain Two, the majority of fans you speak to look at you with a blank stare.
You speak for yourself, you certainly do not speak for the majority of members of this site you foolish man.2 users thanked author for this post.
Let’s put this deal between the two egotists into perspective.
Please correct me if I’ve misunderstood what’s been happening.
The deal to buy GP and the surrounding land.
Hilton agreed to a deal for the full asking price in January and Swann accepted that offer giving him 4 months to complete the “legals”.
Hilton waited those 4 months without doing so and then used a “loophole” that his solicitor allegedly found enabling Hilton to squat at the stadium whilst paying the land owner nothing.
Does that come across as the actions of an honest and astute businessman that should be allowed to be the custodian of a community asset such as a professional football club?
A further 2 months later (now 6 months on from agreeing a deal) “legals” have either not been completed or not started, I assume Hilton has been paying these lawyers for their time.
Swann, none of us can possibly forget or ever forgive him for his shambolic tenure at our club, he has a lot to answer for.
He turned what was once described as the best run small club in England to the absolute car crash on the brink of extinction that we are now witnessing.
Hilton, comes across as a spiv type wide boy looking for “loopholes” to avoid paying for a deal he agreed to 6 months ago and has so far despite claiming he has the funds, has not honoured the deal.
I never trusted Swann and I don’t trust Hilton.7 users thanked author for this post.
Out of all the articles from different “experts” released in recent days this one appears the most concise and informative.
Different people will read it and form different views.
My take on it is that Hilton doesn’t and never had the funds to complete the sale, he changed the goalposts and came up with stalling tactics as the deadline approached.
I suspect his plan from the beginning was to raise the funds via his rushed and ill thought out 1899 scheme that failed spectacularly, I’m baffled that he thought any other outcome was a possibility. He claims Swann must wait for the “legals”to be completed and they may take 3 to 6 months, 6 months have already lapsed since he claimed he’d bought the club, why haven’t the “legals” already been completed?
I suspect it’s just another stalling tactic.
As for his claim of moving into a new stadium in another 22 months, that is never going to happen and anybody who believes that is as daft as the man who made the claim.
No planning permission has even been applied for never mind granted on land Hilton doesn’t and I very much doubt ever will own.I’m not sure if he does or doesn’t have the money, but if you read the article fully, Swann wants the 1.5 million pounds before dealing with the legal issues highlighted in the article. No one in the right mind would ever put that money forward.
To put that into context it’s like you paying half of the house you’re buying off, before even owning it. It just wouldn’t happen.
I’m certainly no financial expert but I do have an ability to read and understand English.
I suggest you read the article again, come back to me and point out where it says “ Swann wants the 1.5 million pounds before dealing with the legal issues”.
I’ll wait!I’m in no position to accuse Begbies Traynor of anything Les, they are respected experts in their field.
If Hilton had the funds he claims from the beginning then why did he not pay the asking price then, he’s offering to now along with £10000 a month while it completes, he could’ve saved himself £60000 in the last 6 months?
None of this makes sense to the experts who clearly say so in the article over the past days, so how is it supposed to make sense to us supporters who have no legal knowledge?Out of all the articles from different “experts” released in recent days this one appears the most concise and informative.

Hilton’s paperwork and this article suggest he is willing to pay 10k a month rent for GP.
Yet at the fans forum he’s on record as saying he would pay 20k a month .
Maybe a small detail but a 50% drop seems quite a lot .
He said many things at the fans forum.
None of them have come to fruition.1 user thanked author for this post.
Neither of the them come out of the article very well.
I suspect Hilton will be fuming when and if he reads it, the finger is firmly pointed at him.
I’m surprised Property funding 2’s loan against Glanford park wasn’t mentioned.2 users thanked author for this post.

Aiden Macartney is stating on Twitter it will be heard within a month.
Unfortunately I only see one outcome unless these two can find an intermediary to bang their heads together and come to an agreement that allows us to play at Glanford park.
Ilkeston anybody?Hardly surprising as our ex chairman had a major problem in that department.

Looking at the case number, I assume it’s Leeds.
Lol, ‘Liebour’! Yes, pretty sure it’s him. Bizarrely, I’ve realised I actually spent quite a bit of time with him when I was younger. How mad is that! I won’t say more. Respect his privacy and all that.
I assume you mean the guy with a Christian name that’s fairly common in Iron Bru circles?
Upon checking it appears Dean has been in sole charge of 19 games, winning only 3.
15% win rate, that could be among the worst return for any of our managers.
The argument that last season wasn’t his team holds no water as the club signed an unbelievable amount of players after his arrival.
There’s a pattern and the pattern suggests the manager is not only not capable of stringing a sentence together without the words “erm” and “ya know” every 3 seconds, it appears he has no tactical nouse or control over his players.1 user thanked author for this post.
Now we know it’s serious.
Even the happy clappers on the faceache forum have started to turn on him.
Somebody remind me, since he’s been here, how many games has he been in charge of and how many wins can he claim?1 user thanked author for this post.
I hope he isn’t invited on here with us “vermin”!
Here ya go Cassidy.
David White
Hold the new owner to account for what exactly????!
Putting in his money?
Giving up all his time???
Sacrificing his other business?
Sacrificing his family??
I’ve said it time and time again and if you need me to keep pointing it out that your former owner is a liar then there is something wrong.
You have all asked for me to interact but when I do I shouldn’t be doing it directly on social media.
I shouldn’t be responding to absolute lies from a man that was two weeks away from killing your club and seemingly quite excited to do so. A man that took away your stadium that the club had owned since it was built in order to satisfy debts at Coolsilk that he had amassed due to mismanagement at the club. Whilst at the time issuing a press release to you all that the club had a 99 year lease and it was protected.
He has now threatened to take legal action against the league because I have managed even with his games to keep the club playing football, he’s suing me and the club and a bookmaker and god only knows who else because everything is always somebody else’s fault.
He has waited to take his action regarding the stadium and still does until such time he feels it will have the biggest impact on the club, right before matches. He puts out a statement on the eve of our first game calling out fans and players insinuating they’ve been duped trying to cause unrest. None of it will work.
I will be speaking to Matt at Iron bru today, i have recently given Aidan McCartney some considerable time and i am prepared to give you at the trust the same, its the one thing i do agree with, unity will inspire success.
Please note that in his statement he referred to numerous interested parties being ignored due to proof of fund issues. Showing that there was a clear process in place looking at such matters. My offer was accepted after providing proof of funds and I have spent far in excess he said I would have to since the takeover.
I have attached below the evidence I offered proof of funds to his lawyer on April 24th at the point he tried to use this as an excuse. It’s quite common in land transactions to pass this evidence on to legal representation or agents. Mr Swann insisted my personal information ended up on his own desk which is never going to happen. If he has lawyers and agents he doesn’t trust despite being far better qualified than him to judge anything then that is his problem. In 20 years and 100 land transactions I’ve never asked my lawyers to forward personal documentation provided by a purchaser.
I’ve also attached the offer made AGAIN last week which is everything he wanted and more. Just to evidence to you all he has no intention of selling the stadium to us he only wants your club to die. We await a response, but given the fact it’s a straightforward offer for the full amount and not the discounted amounts he offered in desperation to swerve the legal work, we had expected a straightforward acceptance.
But please do not issue posts comparing me or my actions to his, and do not insinuate that i owe anybody anything. To date, i have already done far more than anybody else was prepared to in order to keep your club alive.
Please show me more respect than that.
Im pretty certain ive earned it.6 users thanked author for this post.
I’m no businessman but from what Kieran Maguire who’s an expert in football finance we should be extremely concerned.
The accounts show that Swann was pumping in £2 million a year of his own money to keep the club going until he pulled the plug.
Seeing has Hilton obviously doesn’t have access to that amount of his own finance, if he had he wouldn’t be intimating he will finance it through loans surely, or perhaps that’s the way businessman operate now.I only see one outcome, unfortunately it’s the one none of us want.
1 user thanked author for this post.
Pleased to hear Hilton’s accountant has got over Covid.
Hilton appears to have singled out the owner of this forum, this is unacceptable.
For a man claiming to be wealthy and claiming to be seen as the saviour of a football club he’s going the wrong way about it.
Ranting and name calling on social media, not distancing themselves from burner accounts making death threats on social media is not the way a businessman should behave.
The death threats should be investigated by the authorities, I would be surprised if that’s not already being looked in to.6 users thanked author for this post.
From a couple of minutes in.
As I stated in my post the Trust should stay well clear of the boardroom, so the answer is nobody.
I don’t believe supporters should be in the boardroom of a football club, in recent years we’ve had two, both were a disaster and in my opinion for what it’s worth they had to work alongside an egomaniac so they were on a loser from the day they appeared on companies house.
Neither of the two should be allowed anywhere near the boardroom again, even though the Happy Clappers would seemingly want one of them to. -
