I am more bothered about holding Hilton to account and having worries over the club removed (ground issues, payments) than the identity of IB. Does he have an agenda against Hilton? From his interest and posts, it is likely. However, that doesn’t detract from what has been unearthed about Hilton or his handling of the club.

Given we may lose our ground, are collecting CCJs, have wage troubles and have supporter caps, I do wonder when ‘rumours’ and ‘prophecies of doom and gloom’ are acceptable to worry about and don’t make those concerned a trouble maker/pretend supporter/idiot who should go support Grimsby.

Do you post on Southend’s forum as well, just out of interest? Given their struggles and your sympathy for clubs in trouble.

I can understand why posts like ironeye/ironinsider’s get people’s backs up. He never makes any comment on us other than to just deride Hilton and it does come across gleeful when something happens. The problem is that some actual problems do exist and have been unearthed through the last few months.
I want the club to succeed, hope such concerns are ill founded. However, so far they haven’t eleviated. I am equally tired of Pat, and others, just lumping anyone not as gleeful about Hilton as not being true fans and just stoking division because some have a different opinion. That won’t convince sceptics that such concerns are wrong. Some may never be, but others might. Things like the CCJ, wage issue and SAG supporter cap can be worked around and explained. However they hint at a bigger problem to me (all of which seems to involve money, and they don’t give the impression that Hilton can afford to run the club as it should), and I don’t think it can definitely be written off as Swann’s legacy entirely. I will try to be fair to Hilton and say that he’s done a good job in backing a good squad for this level, but off the pitch matters count for our existence. Next week’s court case could be terrible for the club and we may need to accept that Hilton shares part of the blame (Swann already does and won’t get away with it without blame). Unfortunately I feel some will just attack anyone who thinks Hilton has partial responsibility no matter what. The converse may be true too, but that doesn’t make my point any less valid, I think.

I don’t think speaking to fans of previous clubs is the only indicator. His Ilkeston record gave me initial hope. Then I saw the Company’s House records, nature of Britannia Law Ltd, the handling of the ground issue, the confirmed supporter cap ‘rumour’, the lack of wages paid on time etc. Some of these, like the latter can be mitigated quickly, but it raises alarms about his claims to fund the club, especially with a court case looming over the stadium and claims from the other side that he can’t afford it.

Many of the Swann sympathisers, like bpg, Brianiron etc, are backing Hilton. I don’t know where this idea that Hilton critics or those with concerns are Swann lovers have come from. Swann will never be forgiven by me for his idiotic handling of the club and for where we are. It doesn’t mean I am going to just blindly back Hilton though.
I don’t remember ever saying anyone should be blindly backing Hilton, what I am doing is backing him until I am given a firm reason not too, and I do mean a form reason, not rumours by shit stirrers claiming to have “inside knowledge”
I have no issue with that, but resent the idea it makes me a Swann worshipper when ground issues, supporter cap issues, wage issues and now a CCJ give me enough cause for concern off the pitch and these have Hilton’s responsibility in them.
It doesn’t mean I like Swann at all, but Hilton’s giving me enough cause to have doubts.
