Some of us weren’t impressed with Jimbob from day one.
However, it is what it is and our hands are tied. We can’t afford to waste money.
I wonder if we’re still paying any former managers under ‘settlement agreements’ … Hill?Sadly, it’s not for me.
£10 stake with the potential to win £250 once a month.Boston United’s scheme:
£1 stake with the potential to win £2,000 or one of two £250 runner up prizes or one of ten consolation prizes of £50 each WEEK.A 25:1 ratio on our sceheme.
A 2,000:1 ratio on Boston’s.Your £10 with Boston has the potential to win you £20,000
The same £10 with us only has the potential to win you £250
20,000:250
Potentially 80 times more bang for your bucks with Boston.
Yeah, yeah… it’s not about winning money, it’s about financially subsidising/supporting SUFC.
However, to make this a success with the general public – you need a bigger potential return.
I watched the Brackley v Banbury game on the weekend pass and thought Hall looked good
Agreed. He’ll be a handful tomorrow.
Still, we saddle up and ride again tomorrow.
Happy hunting guys.Is this the start of the longest run in ever.
Plenty of games for us to achieve our objective.
However, we need to make an impact starting tomorrow at Brackley.
We’ve got to win to prevent Tamworth opening up a safety net.We need this guy to be on song tomorrow.
Free rein to do as he likes.
Let him run the show.
In fact – I’d let him pick the team and make the substitutions.Watching online, that felt like two points dropped, despite Boston hitting the woodwork late on. Will we regret not killing this one off…?
Déjà vu.
Tamworth smashed Warrington 3-0 at Cantilever Park on Tuesday.
Warrington have won six of their 13 home games this season.
Tomorrow, The Lambs go to Darlo, who have just the one win from their thirteen home games this season.
Darlo 0-4 Tamworth @ 25/1
We need to shackle Hall & Newton.
Both look decent.
Matwasa, the little tricky right winger looks good too.Dan Lewis their keeper will be 42 in June – hard and low boys. Hard and low.
Forgot my Tamworth prediction.. bit early but im going for score draw in front of over 5000.
3-3 has a ring to it
Too early for me to throw a prediction out there yet.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.Sorry Rene, I meant the Knutts. Bobby and his family of Knutts. Back on topic, I tend to agree with you.
From the article linked to above:
“Before 1950s Scunthorpe United were known as the Knuts. The origin is uncertain but it is generally accepted as being when they won one of the local charity cups. The vicar of Frodingham, the Rev Cryspant Rust said “that indeed Scunthorpe and Lindsey United were a tough (k)nut to beat”. It stuck from 1910ish to about 1950.”
Hopefully Jimbob will deploy an attack minded team.
As everyone is saying, no point in setting up for a draw.
A point is no good. We need all three.£2k a week at this level is mental!
1-1 is the shortest correct scorecast at odds of 24/5
Losing the lead twice and all three points in the 91st minute was hard to take.
I’m old enough to remember when scoring 2 goals in a month was cause for celebration, let alone twice in one half!
I recokon Rene’s old enough to remember ‘the Knuts’
No, I’m old but not old enough to have ever known us as ‘The Knuts’
Nb. Obviously we only dropped two points against Boston the other night.
The timing of their equaliser made it feel like a defeat though.

Martin Paterson in at Burton Albion.
Good for him.
Appointed manager today.
Good luck to him.
Hopefully he’ll keep them up.Losing the lead twice and all three points in the 91st minute was hard to take.
We don’t lose when Butterfield scores.
He’s netted 7 times in six games.
Of those six games:
W5 D1 GF18 GA2When Butterfield is on song – so are the Iron!

16 times we have scored first and gone on to win the game.
5 times we have scored first and gone on to draw.
If we score first, we don’t lose.
3 times the opposition scored first and we went on to loose.
On one occasion the opposition scored first but we went on to win.
On one occasion it was a 0-0 draw.
From winning / losing positions we are 7 points in deficit.
Drew five games where we were leading.
(minus ten points)
Won one game, coming from behind.
(plus three points)We have to be alert for 90 minutes plus.
Play right up to the 45 plus X minutes!
Get at them at a high tempo from the 46th minute after HT.
Maintain the intensity from the 80th to the 90th plus X minute.
In fact, increase the intensity & tempo from the 80th minute to hopefully ‘punish’ the part timers.Easy to say – more difficult to achieve.
Knowing your (our) weaknesses can become a strength.
Looks like Jimbob doesn’t rate him.
“Complacency breeds failure. Only the paranoid survive.”
Andy Grove. We are less than the sum of our parts.
With our budget, squad, player wages, stadium (maybe it should be more ‘intimidating’ for teams to come and play at GP) and level of support – we should be dominating this league.
2-0 (four occasions) is our must frequent score.
1-0 and 1-1 are joint second most frequent on three occasions.
For me, we don’t kill games off.
In 18 of our 26 games, we’ve either won or lost by no more than 2 goals or drawn on 18 occasions from 26 games.
70% of our games are tight, nervy affairs… where so far, we have managed to win more than we’ve lost.
Of those 18 tight games (scorelines with a differential of +|- 2 goals) here’s our performance:
P18 W9 D6 L3 Pts 33 Potential Pts 54
Of those six drawn games:
Scun 1-1 P Sports (0-0 HT) – we conceded 81st min equaliser.
Alfreton 2-2 Scun (1-2 HT) – Scales off in 6th min. Conceded 55th min equaliser.
Led twice in game.
Ten men for nearly an entire game!Chorley 1-1 Scun (0-1 HT) – conceded 47 min equaliser.
Boston 1-1 Scun (0-0 HT) – conceded 85th min equaliser.
Buxton 0-0 Scun
Scun 2-2 Boston (2-1 HT) – conceded 90+1 min equaliser.
Led twice in game.On average we score our first goal in the 31st minute (home & away)
On average we concede our first goal in the 45th minute.
At Home, on average we concede in the 49th minute.
Away, on average we concede in the 42 minute.
We seem very vulnerable 5 minutes before and after half time and in the last 10 minutes of games.
3 of those 5 drawn games listed above have seen equalisers scored in the 80th minute plus.“A little reconnaissance is butter than being ambushed”

If Brackley & Tamworth both beat us and Scarborough take all 9 points from their Sat – Tues – Sat schedule… then they’ll be level on points with us.13/01 Farsley v Boro
16/01 Boro v Boston
20/01 Boro v Peterboro SportsWe’re not in the EFL.
Exactly. Like I said, maybe the NL did a bit of copy & pasting?
No point in them reinventing the wheel.Good morning Scunthorpe, from sunny, sunny Tamworth, the home of an ancient Norman castle, and our iconic heritage site, the Snow Dome!
Please allow me, I come not to gloat or crow despite our five point advantage this morning. On the contrary, I bring goodwill, chocolates and flowers from south east Staffs.
I have to say, I am stunned by the air of negativity on your website. It seems a bit premature for some of you men of Iron to be waving your white handkerchiefs so early in proceedings.
How quickly the landscape can change at the top. After all, most humble Tamworth fans believe we are merely keeping the top seat warm for you. We expect nothing less than a battle to the death on April 20 – and that’s what I am sure we will get.
But when all is said and done, surely the massive disparity in our two clubs relating to history, tradition, player-budget, spending power, full-time, fan-base and your wonderful ground, which we are so looking forward to visiting, will tilt the balance in your favour.
However, despite all this bonhomie, I do have to take umbrage with one of your posters, MK Iron, who claims Tamworth are neither clever, pretty or entertaining.
Let me address these three points individually.
1. Clever. I am not privy to any Ofsted reports but I can only suggest that the GCSE success rate at English and Mathematics is at least on a par in Tamworth’s secondary schools with those in Scunthorpe.
2. Pretty. Now granted I am no oil painting and a few of my fellow supporters can hardly claim to be Brad Pitt either. Indeed a couple of our players are in urgent need of a hair transplant – but by no means do we play ugly football.
3. Entertaining. Again I have to concede we have a paucity of great entertainers who hail from Tamworth, though we do claim Del Trotter to be one of our own because of his love affair with a three-wheeled Reliant Robin which was built in Tamworth many moons ago.
But on a slightly serious note, I spoke to a few Warrington supporters last night on leaving the ground who said Tamworth were the best team they had seen at their ground in years. They had been well and truly entertained by little old Tamworth.
So, keep your chins up lads and we look forward to crossing swords with you a week on Saturday. Will Kevin Keegan be at the game? Our most famous footballing son. Paul Merson. has promised to come along to support us providing he can get out out of Soccer Saturday.
And hopefully I will get the opportunity to say hello to a few of you pre-game in the Honest Lawyer, while drinking a pint of your finest Lincolnshire ale. You will easily recognise me, remember, I’m ugly and I will be carrying a box of Thorntons and a bouquet or red roses.
Friendly Lamb.Kyle Finn seems to be ripping it up for you guys?
17 goals (as of 10/01/24) in all competitions from midfield I believe?Good morning Scunthorpe, from sunny, sunny Tamworth, the home of an ancient Norman castle, and our iconic heritage site, the Snow Dome!

Friendly Lamb. How many are you expecting to bring… 500?
Is this Rene in sheep’s clothing?
I assure you; I’m nonplussed.
Are we allowed to sign unattached players if possible or are we not allowed to sign anybody ?
I’d guess the NL probably did a bit of C&P…
Smith has left Scunthorpe United.
There’s interest from a Scottish premier league club.Who?
Beware of Brackley
Connor Hall bagged a debut hat-trick for them in their 3-1 win against Banbury on NYD.
Two headers and a sublime third for the 25 year old.
They also hit the bar twice and what looked to be a penalty turned down.
They followed that up with a 1-0 away win at Spennymoor last Saturday.
Three wins on the bounce for them.
