Really?
I wouldn’t have any of the lot we’ve just sent back. With the possible exception of Delaney.

Like these two lineups?
Wrexham 3-0 Stockport County: Dragons go top of National League on goal difference
Great in theory, but getting experienced professionals to come to a club in complete disarray will require nothing short of a magician’s act from our fabled recruitment committee.

GK Mark Howard’s been released anyone take him back?.
Yep!
League Champions with a 17 year old keeper?
Yeah, right.
No new signings in the squad either?
Actually, you could be correct with that!

Think our result was freakish?
Always someone who’s gone one (or twelve) better!
Imagine what Chester le Street felt like.
2021/22 NL season kicked off on 21st August.
No they haven’t (see other threads)!
Anyway making three changes from the previous week is hardly weakening the team.
Man City do it every game!

When fit!

So Taft, Feeney, Perry & Millen are still all under contract but have been nowhere to be seen – Feeney aside – for weeks? So why haven’t they been being played when fit? I find it completely baffling.
Err, could it be because Hill didn’t sign them, Cox did?
May 2011 Garforth Town FC.
I was there with my mate who is a Chester fan. They were odds on the win the Evo-Stik Div1(N) title. To miss out they would have to lose by the odd goal at Garforth and nearest rivals Skelmersdale would have to beat Ossett Albion by seven goals.
The other three of us in the car said it would never happen but our worried Chester chum had a bad feeling it would.
Halftime and Chester 1-0 up and heading for the title despite Skem leading 5-1.
Second half Garforth got two quick goals and it finished 2-1 to the home side. There was still six minutes to go at Skelmersdale and Chinese Whispers went around. Skem we’re 7-1 up, then 8-1, then 9-1. In actual fact it finished 7-2 and Chester won the league. The guy who scored Ossett’s second was invited to be guest of honour at Chester’s end of season presentation dinner!
And no! Socrates was not playing for Garforth that day!
That’s why I said Hill needs to be fully responsible. It’s easy to assemble a squad when you can throw money at it. Hill needs to build a squad of players who want to be here and work hard to prove it.
As opposed to allowing our head of recruitment to do it using a mobile phone and a list of footballer’s agents?
Totally agree Cass.
So who are these players that set the terrible culture?
Didn’t Jem Karacan have something to say about this?
If so then it was prevalent before most of those listed above arrived.
It can’t be just the players.
We DIDN’T field a weakened team.
We’re shite in all departments.
As MM says, The Gas smelled blood and went in for the kill. The Cobblers sat on a 3-1 scoreline.
As they say up here “shy bairns get nowt!”

When Cox finally got the bullet there were two names being bandied about on here. Hill and Adkins.
Very much a head vs heart decision. At the time of his appointment I think most were satisfied with it.
Maybe what followed was as much a shock to Hill as it was to us fans.
Robbins given a new contract with Coventry this week. Alexander, after his usual springtime dip, aiming to get Motherwell into Europe (KvV with the winner yesterday). Even Russ taking over at rock bottom Farsley and keeping them up by the skin of their teeth.
We’ve had some capable managers under Swann but each time it’s gone tits-up.
Things have to change. Personally I can’t see it happening without a complete clear out, top to bottom.
The thing is, if we chose the best available last time, who the hell are we going to get now?

To field such an inexperienced side shows no respect to the name of the Club, the opposition, the remaining teams in the division where our game could impact on their final position AND OUR TRAVELLING FANS.
Nail hit squarely on the head. Well said.

Another Swann sycophant?
Keith Hill: Scunthorpe United boss says ‘terrible’ culture at relegated club must change

If it’s not the Swann’s fault or his fault, then who’s is it?
If he’s any self respect left he’ll resign.
Unless he has a cunning plan!

I’m absolutely staggered that we’ve scored 29!
So we can expect abuse from Northampton fans can we?
Bit like the twat’s trick Wigan played on us a few years back.

60 years for me!
It’s Lindsey btw. The name I gave my daughter!

There was a kid’s pop programme called Razzmatazz. It was produced by Malcolm Gerrrie, who was a friend of a friend.
I was teaching at the time and Malcolm regularly got us to bring a party of our school kids down to be the audience.
I got to hang out with some of the band members in the green room. Including Bow Wow Wow, Haircut 100 & Limhal from Kadjagoogoo, who was really called Chris and was another nice guy.
Once Martin Fry knew I was from Scunthorpe we had a Steel Towns bonding.
Also met Paula Yates on that show. She was tiny!
Joint worst.
Lost 8-1 at Man City in 1963.
Especially if it includes a Ryan Loft hat-trick!
£10 entry?
Good luck with that. Most NL clubs charge twice as much.
Thanks NLI. So basically another fruitless exercise?

The Gas can still get an automatic promotion slot. We’re down and out.
Of course they’re odds on to win!
All in all I think you will get a good keeper who with the right coaching and support from your fans can become a VERY good keeper.
Nothing against Mussy, but we haven’t had a great record with keepers of late.
