Can’t fully agree with you Deerey.

As a teacher and parent (hopefully not too long a grandparent!) it’s the grossness of the language in Dahl’s books that makes them so attractive to kids. It’s the hero/heroine versus the hideous monster.

You can date it back to Perseus and the Gorgon, Beowulf and Grendel, George and the Dragon. Children are nasty little so and sos at the best of times. In my experience Dahl’s books got kids reading and that has to be a good thing.

You wouldn’t edit Shakespeare to make Bottom less ass-like, would you?

The language is just fine as it is.

The thought of Fansy spreading shaving gel on his cream crackers whilst smelling of coal tar soap is a difficult one to get out of my head!

Isn’t that the purpose of the scheme?

That sum of £3.6 million has a familiar ring to it.

A month ago posters were wondering how groups of fans could get together and raise enough money to buy the stadium and land.

Well hey-presto! Someone has come up with a way of doing just that.

Yes, there’s a lot of ifs & buts, but it’s something to consider. And a million miles away from what Swann was proposing when he took over.

Nothing to do with Brexit, apparently!

Down to adverse weather conditions. So act of God rather than act of Parliament.

BPG needs to “have a word”!

And I’ve been saying it should be L2(N) & L2(S)!

Either way it would make sense.

It’s social media. Of course it’s disproportionate.

Way of the world in 2023 I’m afraid.

Mrs NI has gone into Newcastle to meet our daughter. Usually she gets the train (either TP or XC) from Hexham. Not running today so got the bus. Turned up for the express service to find they’ve stopped running it on a Saturday. Had to get the normal service that stops at every lamppost on the 22 mile journey taking 85 minutes instead of 35!

Really encourages you to use public transport doesn’t it?

Loaning Whitehouse to Spennymoor for a month seems to have worked out okay for us.

To be fair there’s plenty of male managers who talk bollocks too.

And as for those “expert” summarisers!

Same as CBRP only I’d think Richards-Everton will be on the bench with Taft starting.

Midfield will be interesting. Will Dean go with two wide men? Butterfield or Whitehouse? Doesn’t look like he’s going to play both.

Assuming he’s going to start with two up front of course.

Asked my Bantam mate and said he was….”okay; didn’t get a good run at it, patchy, fell out of favour, shipped out as surplus”.

Sounds similar to what happened here with Charlie Goode!

Standards NI standards, there’s always the iron bar.

A few years back I went with a mate to watch Newcastle Blue Star play Bradford (Park Avenue) at Newcastle Falcons Kingston Park ground. They only had the main stand open, and at halftime we wandered in through the suite of lounges looking for refreshments.

Ended up in a large function room where we were offered hot or cold drinks and snacks for which we weren’t asked for payment. As we tucked into our tea and sandwiches we realised the staff thought we were BPA “executives”!

The free scran made up for the awful football on display. A 0-0 bore draw on a freezing cold night.

How the hell can you comment on BBC bias if you don’t watch it?

Reminds me of those old boys back in the 70s. Wouldn’t go to an Indian restaurant because they weren’t eating “that foreign muck” Even though they’d never tried it!

So if it’s ultimately down to human interpretation why not just let the ref and linesmen decide like down here in the plebs’ leagues?

Or is it done because the PL teams are something special?
