The two always are definitely the banana skins.
We have always been good at giving Christmas presents to the needy!
Loft – played in the right position in the right formation, then perhaps.
Hippolyte – a lot to prove. Not for me yet.
Spence – yes!
Jarvis – dunno, not played enough.
Onarise – yes!
Mooney – absolutely no idea.
Cordner – too lightweight for me. Back to Bournemouth.
Vincent – unsure, but do we need him? Back to Bournemouth.
Taylor – possibly, not seen enough.
And I’ll add Dunwald-Turan to that list – see Jarvis above!
See what I mean, Northumbiron has had a go at me even though I had not even commented on this subject,
It was a typo for which I have apologised. Nothing more.
, I would be more happy with it if the heading was “ALL LIVES MATTER”,
This is what some people don’t get. And I had the same discussion with a friend of mine who said the same.
The campaign isn’t about equality, it’s about equity. We have had three hundred years of “only white lives matter”, now it’s payback time.
I bet you’ve never been pulled over by the police whilst driving and asked where you stole the car from. I doubt if you’ve ever suffered prejudice in the workplace because of the colour of your skin.
It is about highlighting injustice. The reason taking the knee is not going to go away is because the problem is not going to go away whilst people persist with this attitude.
I suspect many of those who don’t like it would have no problem about standing for the National Anthem before KO.
I think you mean the Christian NI, not BS,
Thanks I-A, and apologies to BS. I meant to write BPG of course.
Although I find it all rather bizarre that someone who constantly bleats on about morals can condone such behaviour.
Not a bloody clue have you BS?
He’s not the new Steve Torpey, perhaps not even the new John Gayle.
But he could be the type of forward we’ve been missing for a few seasons and a type you probably need in League 2.
My big beef is players really condemn fans but don’t say very much when it’s players or ex players who are racist.
Erm!
The Anton Ferdinand/John Terry incident back in the news this week.
Windsor Davies?
I wonder if it’s needed now, since the point has been made
Thing is BRI if it is stopped now then within a short period of time we’ll be back to square one. That’s what’s happened with previous campaigns such as “kick racism out”.
That’s just what the bigots want. For it to stop and not come back.
Sorry CBRP, I didn’t mean Dales per se. I was picking up on your comment about having strength in depth re: wingers.
I don’t think we do. IMO Green is the only decent replacement. Dales out on loan and Hippolyte looking National League North standard. If we lose Eisa and/or Gilliead in January we’ll be a lot weaker in the wide areas.
Another “stirring” post Awaywego! Well done!
Why does it bother you? Why does it make you uncomfortable?
It only lasts a few seconds, so why not just ignore it like thousands have ignored racism for the past three hundred years.
Wingers: strength in depth there. Dales is surplus to requirements so he can go.
Not sure I fully agree with that one.
Green is a good option. But Hippolyte has a lot to prove and Dales, like Olomola seems destined never to feature in a first team lineup.
Agree re: strikers, which begs the question why did we sign Turan and why send Mooney straight out on loan?
Unfortunately the players we could afford to move on are the ones under contract and those we desperately need to keep are nearing the end of theirs.
But we’ve been here before, haven’t we?
Well said.
Bound to be negativity when you’re hovering around the football league’s trapdoor to oblivion. Particularly when the manager throws inexperienced kids in, some playing out of position.
And when your talisman is out injured, returns only to get crocked again. Then when the team lines up in a formation you just know will be a disaster. You have to question what’s going on.
Then when you look back at previous managers and remember how their stubbornness to change the system ended up in the sack. Let’s face it, you’d be well within your rights to think “here we go again”.
If Cox has learned and is willing to rectify his earlier mistakes then he deserves credit. He takes a lot of credit from me today for sticking with the same starting lineup from Tuesday, when it would have been easy to change it. The rewards are there to be seen.
Let’s keep it going Neil.
so hopefully normal service will be resumed for you on tuesday and we can get back to gloom and doom.
I really do wonder if you actually read what people write, or just reply based upon your own preconceptions.
Who the hell is moaning? I’m not, I was jumping around the room at 3:00pm (much to the bemusement of the wife). But if you think we have the depth of quality in the squad that we need to get into the top half of the table then you’re wearing the rose-tinteds.
You also alluded that no kev no threat,
I sure did, just after we had lost at home to Bolton (the same Bolton who shipped six at home today), having ONE shot on target all game! Of course you knew we were going to score five in our next game because your Nostrobloodydamus! And funnily enough that was the same game that Cox reverted to five at the back, playing Gilliead at RB and leaving Rowe on the bench. We return to 4-4-2 with square pegs in square holes and hey-presto!
Yes, back to back wins are great, particularly when they put us above the Cods, but the froth is easily blown off your half full pint. I thought Eisa in particular and possibly Gilliead were a bit off the pace today. Luckily Beestin was excellent, but given the speed the games are coming round we can perhaps expect this, as well as injuries and suspensions (although playing 4-4-2 is better for our discipline too). Are those on the bench good enough to slot in if required? I’m not so sure.
I’m a happy bunny tonight, but I’m not putting up the bunting when we’re still only four points above 23rd place.
These are my views to which I am entitled. If you don’t like them I have others.
And to think that posters were saying we had a shite team
Au contraire Rodney! There were saying we had a shite squad.
As alluded to earlier if Beestin and Spence are out for any length of time then the engine is broken. Hippolyte in for an injured Eisa? No thanks.
This is the first time in ages that any manager has named the same lineup twice in a row. Strongest XI playing 4-4-2 and we look decent. Second string players out of position in a 5-3-1-1. Disaster beckons!
Only just noticed it’s a stupid 1pm kick off, won’t be watching in that case.
The good news is we get four and a half hours more recovery time than Colchester!
How many season tickets have we sold? How many of those ST holders would attend the first game they were allowed back?
Pay on the day would be an issue and I cannot see the use of turnstiles or queuing at a window a viable option.
Perhaps buying your match day ticket online and getting a QR code to your smartphone or one you could print off like an airline ticket. Main gates, open 2m spaced queue, steward scans your ticket/phone.
There are lots of ways around it. But as we are still in T3 we can watch what the likes of Carlisle, Exeter, Crawley etc are doing before finalising our own system.
Phew!
Same starting XI as Tuesday. Here’s hoping for a similar performance!
Definitely Barrie, as I posted earlier.
West Ham wore claret shorts last season and the fans were in uproar. Back to white this season I see.
Let’s take to top two clubs in Spain then.
Real Madrid – all white, which proves your theory.
Barcelona – dark red and dark blue, which proves mine.
You can call Juventus and Ajax to your aid. I’ll call Bayern Munich and PSG to mine.
You say tomarto, I say tomayto!
It doesn’t matter. As Deerey says if there was a problem the manager and players would raise it.
Bartonscorpion, I’m not disagreeing with you re: the empty seats. What I am saying is that there are two different issues here. 1. Supporters vision and 2. Players ability to pick out a teammate.
The latter is nonsense, the former will vary from game to game, supporter to supporter.
Maybe painting the seats white would be better!
As commented on above; we are one of only 4 league clubs to wear claret & blue. Let’s keep it that way.
Rowe and O’Malley at FB will be fine.
Or Spurs, Fulham, Preston, Derby etc should be winning trophies every season.
Liverpool, Leicester and Chelsea should be crap!
“ He knows characters, he’s been around this industry for a long, long time”
We don’t want characters, we want footballers.
The way he talks sounds like we’re signing Roy Race and Billy the Fish in January
If you’ve ever played football at any level you’d know that this isn’t an issue.
I’ll be back playing under the floodlights again this Sunday and even if my teammates are playing in black I’ll know I need to pass to them, not those in the fluorescent orange bibs.
This is borne out by MM’s post. Bury are in white so they’re the opposition – sorted!
Hopefully not another disappointing home performance.
In which case wearing the white shorts with the home kit (like those aforementioned PL clubs) would help.
Indeed Feritte.
2006/07 All claret home strip. All black away = Champions.
I think this tread says more about posters’ eyesight than kit design.
Every TV show needs a plot!
Series 3 of “Sunderland til I die” in the making?
