Rather less skeletal, these days.
I looked at every face in the East Stand yesterday and not only did I not know a single person – I did not see a single face I even recognised all afternoon.
I know a fair few who use that stand and would easily recognise three or four dozen more. They weren’t there.
Okay – it’s always a limited turnout where friendlies are concerned but … it concerned me. There should have been more than a few.1 user thanked author for this post.
Trialist A must be signed – preferably today!
Classy; vision; leadership qualities; great passer and reader of the game.Didn’t see enough of trialist C to judge but there were certainly positives.
Everything Trialist B did well – Trialist A did better. Too many errors in B’s game but there were positives too.
Kenyon slower than expected but did the simple things well.
Davis looks our best CB – ahead of Taft based on not a lot of minutes watching.
Liked Thompson and O’ Neill.
Now firmly believe we can aim for lower mid-table.
Best of all – in a hard game by ‘friendly’ standards we rarely gifted possession – a critical thing to be remedied after last season.
Players worked for each other. Smile.3 users thanked author for this post.
Sound defence + backup.
Interesting CM but Kenyon must be a leader.
Forward line developing.
GK is an issue. So far, am pleased with how Cox has approached it.
So true.
My optimism level has shot up two notches knowing that we now have a forward who, apparently, can hold up a ball well.
A real biggie for me – and should bring the best out of Loft.
Well. That’s the theory, anyhow. For the first time, I am starting to see little reason to worry too much about 23rd and 24th.
Now. As one who has supported Cox as much as humanly possible – I expect him to show us what he is capable of.

I was once piloted to Spain by Kell – and had a quick word.
Jet2 from Leeds, if memory serves.Bara was a midfield general who inspired those around him.
Mr Kenyon, anyone?1 user thanked author for this post.
I am deeply concerned by this disconnect between the club and the Iron supporters.
It is clear that whatever the supporters may be blamed for – this is 100% the club’s fault.
Is there nobody with any wisdom on their side? (It is now a question of sides, I fear.)
Might not Neil be granted a little freedom to make the odd communication? He is the nearest we have been allowed during the close season.2 users thanked author for this post.
If not top 3, IA – then VERY close.

Funso might have got into my top 20 CMs since 1966. But – maybe not.
Pugh tends to be a CM, I thought.
2 players isolating.
One must surely be Hallam as he’d have featured automatically – unless … he’s … No. I can’t say it!
Millen?Tunan, Jarvis and Hippo? – Not even a trot around the pitch? – Carrying knocks?
Have I missed anyone?
“There’s only one trialist B – one trialist beee-ee!”
But how come trialist A played for both sides?
I really hope this is the case but …
IA – yup. A terrific match and still nowhere close to being our best line-up.
Preferred being at home, frankly. Bloomin’ warm, yesterday.
Have to agree about that six!You are spot on, Cass.
Three and a half hours of really deep sleep; probably 45 minutes of REM crap on top; 45 minutes catnap in the early afternoon. Total – somewhere in the region of 5 hours in every 24.It’s just how I muddle through life – it isn’t exclusively me worrying about The Iron.
Sigh.
Are we sure that the figure is actually that high?
I suppose some don’t care so much about the football but have just got into an unpleasant habit such as: taking snuff, picking their noses in public, spitting in the street or imbibing laudanum.
(Apologies to the few brave loyalists before both of them demand my head on a spike.)If the 31st May situation had come to pass – that 200 figure could perhaps have been quadrupled.
When I chatted to him in my late teens, on occasion, he did not seem to be just 7 years older than me. I would have said at least 20+.
I think I can also recall him shooting at Normanby from time to time when I was even younger.Probably just me. My ageing brain cell gradually fading away.
My Dad knew him quite well and thought him a decent bloke.
I also remember helping to clear a Dutch barn of rats on land that he controlled. (We killed 80.) But that doesn’t help much – he wasn’t there at the time.
I saw that but thought that he had to be too young.
Son of, maybe? If trialists are to be signed – makes sense to get it done in good time for Farsley.
The one thing we will find out is whether Neil has got, friends and contacts in the game. But the same also applies to Lillis and McMahon, of course.
Bunn – Lillis presumably. BTW – is a certain son not OOC?What I do not get is Tunan. Has there been a problem now resolved – in part, at least?
If that is not the case – surely, it was in the interests of everyone for him to be paid off.Non-proven (Scotland), case dismissed, insufficient evidence and not guilty etc may mean innocent but, frankly, usually don’t.
When I was a Chairman of the Bench some years ago – I often acquitted people whom the Bench believed to be guilty.
On the ‘balance of probabilities’ every single one would have been convicted. (Without exception.)
But that definition is radically different to ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ – the norm to which Justices operate in criminal trials.
This is the right and proper way for the system to be applied.Hippo is not bad – he is adequate. (And he has a long throw.)
You would obviously hope there are better for the first 11 – but as a regular on the subs’ bench – okay by me.That’s my guess.
I really want to be wrong.
No chance whatsoever of a Yates or a Toney!1 user thanked author for this post.
The forward line is a disaster. As previously mentioned – we MUST have a Paul Hayes-style player.
Another backup forward.
One GK.(Come back Mark – all is forgiven?)
We are banking on Hallam staying fit in CM.
Phew! And all that is assuming both triallists fit the bill.Stop-start penalties against a world class GK?
A rare sighting indeed, MKI.
We have a Harris Hawk swooping over Sheffield 13. They don’t even live in the UK!
Seen it really close up twice.Cynic.
Take off the injuries and there’ll be bags of room.
