The players who began the season looked the part, Deerey. It probably all hangs on the fact that ‘we wuz sussed’.
So, yes. Pretty sure.1 user thanked author for this post.
Denton’s injury was a long time ago now.
Another victim of our ‘system?’Let’s take a step back and view the big picture.
Manager has won 3 games out of 14.
Manager has been losing very regularly to totally inferior opposition – teams cobbled together with: part-timers, ultra low budgets and many with an extremely low fan base etc.
Manager demonstrably struggling to get the best out of what is a decentish squad.
Manager inevitably facing rumours that he has ‘lost the dressing room’.
Manager’s claims that our superior fitness would give us an edge have proved not to be the actual reality.
Manager is overseeing a side whose passing is frequently woeful and which creates space for the opposition.
Manager and a clear majority of fans not in any accord over: the system being played; defending slender leads; on-field positions being filled with ‘unsuitable picks’ etc.
Manager believes that his side has ‘balance’ – most fans apparently do not.
Manager’s weekly rhetoric is oft repeated and fans appear less than convinced.
Manager had a superb start and expected that to continue – most fans were able to spot the weaknesses and did not.
I could go on.
There is a terrible irony here for AB. When (not if) the sacking comes – some lucky manager is going to breeze in and find that he has many good players who only need organising within a system that they like and fully understand to see a huge upturn in fortunes on the pitch.
Even now, at the eleventh hour, AB could rescue himself from the above. All he has to do is show some flexibility.
In my life, I have worked for leaders WITH flexibility and those WITHOUT.
Guess which types create the most success!10 users thanked author for this post.
What has happened to Evans? He was a class act last year.
We are trying to play 3 CBs.
Allegedly, there are 4 on the books. But, in practice, we only have two who are anywhere close to decent.1 user thanked author for this post.
Actually, I am a pretty heavy drug user. I can supply a list of what is currently keeping me alive if anyone is desperate enough to want the facts.

Where’s Cassandra when you need her?
The board will obviously be most concerned about the monies lost by many fans staying away.
If this dreadful run is not stopped 64, the damage will not just be a problem this season but will run into next. What was the gate, anyone?
What was the gate?
Like it or lump it, it seems that an ultimatum to AB from the board is the only thing which MIGHT kick him back into the reality dimension which he no longer seems to inhabit.
I support his sacking but would very much prefer not to be having to do so.2 users thanked author for this post.
It rather depends on whether Butler is a bossy boss or a listening boss, I suppose.
It also depends on Schofield’s attitude when poor decisions have been made – and regularly defended!Hmm. I wonder if Neil Cox is available?
I wish him well.
I happen to know that one former manager was hugely unimpressed with his record for finding players.
Were the summer recruits really brought in for the AB formation? – If so, why so many guys playing out of position?
I have been somewhat critical of how the team has been handled. Nonetheless, I have, thus far expressed my desire to keep AB.
If I find us playing this same rubbish at the end of our non-league game fortnight, I shall be forced to change my attitude.
I may matter little as a single voice supporter but my winter visits to the AA which are already reduced coz I feel the cold pretty badly on current tablets – will no longer be reduced.
They will be non-existent.I would guesstimate that 1 in 4 loanees we have signed has been very good for the club; a 2nd is perhaps better than what we had at the time; 3rd is a place filler and the 4th is a waste of space.

Where’s our even more needed, dominant CM player?
The dribble through our ‘defence’ to score that particular goal had Nicholson just standing around looking confused.
We must forget about the long throws – he must be dropped! It sounds unreal, IA – when put in those terms – but it isn’t!
We need a CM, Deerey.
WG wants Brogan in there. It’s worth a try.
(BTW, sticking to your guns has a certain nobility to it in some circumstances AB – these are not they.)I predicted that 3 bad performances in November would bring it all to a head.
Well.
1 stinker to start us off.1 user thanked author for this post.
Apologies, Bill.
Okay, our long throw expert’s passing skills as a CB really worry me.
But to be fair, the demands on CBs who receive precious little help from CM in front of them leads to … well … what we’ve got at the moment. We must use this (fairly) dead fortnight to reconstitute the side. We could then be very pleasantly surprised what currently failing players could do in a more sensible system.
It’s been said many times but we are playing two FBs as WBs. Both are better FBs.
A change there would surely give us an instant defensive improvement. My spies are also suggesting Luke Williams.
AB: Two attack-minded players.
First appears to be coming in on Monday.
Second still in the decision-making process – a probable?Where is the CM??
Some players going out on loan.
It has been clear for 6 – 8 weeks that something is badly wrong.
Why the mega delays in addressing critical issues?
If it’s right to act now – and of course, we don’t yet know that it is – what has changed? -
