There is no alternative. Regardless of Dave Hilton’s past, he is all we have got, and he is not doing bad.
The usual suspects will piss and moan no matter what happens. Best to ignore…
Did his time and paid the debt. If anyone has committed theft are they forever branded a thief?
There isn’t one.
We need to hope he has the funds and the will to keep us going.
We need to hope there are no repercussions from the FA and the national league.
We need to hope the latest rumours about ex players not being paid and tax being owed is fabrication.
We need to hope that Peter Swann doesn’t make us homeless.
Clutching at straws aren’t we?
in direct reply to the op … if DH walks i cant see anything other than the club folding… this is the only reason regardless of his past i hope he stays at least until a buyer comes along.
Grabs popcorn
Popcorn finished … i stand by my last statement above , as so it was to be DH left and a new owner Michelle emerged … IMO if she hadnt the club would have lost GP and in time folded..
for sure the club is seeking every sponsorship opportunity they can and every bit helps.. im sure there are some fully grown humans out there both middle aged and the more crusty variety who would enjoy being a mascot … similarly enjoying meeting players seems very popular. I note the goal posts and flood lights are not sponsored ?
Going back to an old post when i tongue in cheek JOKINGLY suggested sponsoring the bog seats i trust there are advertising boards in the WCs above the urinals and back of the trap doors ?? reserved for Grimsby based sponsors perhaps !!
Itonironiron you have been very busy since registering a mere 12 hours ago but still thanks for sharing your story im sure Bru members individually will take it on board and see it for what it is.
A couple of days ago i did post re how i had perceived Mr Hiltons brief involvement and the job he had done at SUFC but it was removed…it appears yours are ok.
BTW when mixed in with his your writing style and terminology is very similar to that of DH ..its uncanny.
ive tried to find what Paul Hayes has been posting on X without success can anyone enlighten me
TIA
Deciding on a sin bin offense will just morph into another element of the game for the officials to get wrong.. a la VAR.

Strange seeing Pugh in NOT a Scunny shirt
i would hope the fact he has a new baby isnt effecting his performances , unless he is breast feeding.
Funny. I was thinking more along the lines of disturbed sleep. Babies often wake up and cry, don’t they ?
Really a pro footballer losing form due to his wife having a baby is IMO a no no and should be more professional…but tiz true hes been crap since the bairn was born.
in my younger days and for my sins i used to work perminent nights at Frod Cement and latterly BSS for GLE and i hated having mt sleep disturbed 55555555
Another tough game (arent they all WHEN AWAY) so unpredictable as to which Scunny side turn up.
Abit early but Im gonna go 2-2
RIP .. great manager for that era…took England to the Euro semis but lost on pens and that win over the Cloggies was superb, some one of his ilk with a more modern twist desperately needed to replace Southgate .. as earlier said i too dont follow England all now totally uninterested.
The insistence on playing Whitehall is the only real question I had today when Elliot looked good when he came on in the last game. Whitehall’s been poor for quite a while now.
Clunan was poor but he looked jaded as a lot of the other players have of late. Clunan’s been playing Sat/Tues straight after he came back from injury and plus he’s got a baby to look after, it looks like it’s taken it’s toll.
They can all least have a bit of a rest now and get Beestin, Kelly and Ogle back.
A fair summary WGs .. Clunan was fantastic early on in the season but hasnt been at the races since he had his injury and more recent illness… i would hope the fact he has a new baby isnt effecting his performances , unless he is breast feeding.
Hope Cal Roberts stays fit , will make a huge difference as an impact player with goals and assists.
Listened on the radio and lucky to win .. sounded like Warrington were the better side other than first 20 mins of the second half, pissing about in the 98th minute when only 5 mins of extra time was supposed to be played very nearly cost 2 points.
FITZ SAVED THE DAY LITERALLY !!
I had my live football fix at Nong Bua Lam Phu v Samut Prakarn last night in Thai L2 .. 3 quid to get in , no pies and a decent game ending in a 5-1 home win ..
tough one to call this .. Scunny in great form at home whilst Warrington very good away..
Prediction ..
Head says a cagey 1-1 draw
Heart says 2-1 win for Scunny
Be nice to top 4k bur cant see it so Att 3,728 .. inc 178 away fansThe days of taking the lead at Chelsea and Man City in the FA Cup seem like a million years ago!
Could be playing both very soon if the FA grow a set n deduct points ..
Back to Solihull.. early prediction draw AET loose on pens
immediate response to Southgates post match warbling
Most of the magnificent seven (6 actually) didn’t make it past June!
Harvey Bunker, Sean Shields, Billy Fewster, Gerry McDonagh, Jake Leake???
Only Dion S-F survived!
BTW I’d sooner we sent back Jenkins than Smith.
I should have been clearer … didnt mean the last season magnificent 7 that were crazily all signed on the same day and failed miserably … it was this latest posse signed in the heady days thinking Hilton was our hero and what the new owners are having to pay for now hes scarppered pockets overflowing.
Herbert is a proper herbert n should be binned n banned alas it appears his tongue is up Mr Elliots back passage as it was Hiltons
I seem to remember that some/many/most were signed on 1 year deals and I think Butterfield will be OOC in the summer.
I recall most of the magnificent 7 who Hilton and JD signed were on 1 year deals which takes then through until June / July 2024 at which point us being promoted or not this season may have a huge bearing on who stays or goes , beware the badge kissers a la Joe Nuttall ..and of course the state of the club financially at that time.
No replays IFA, and the draw was underwhelming imo.
Yes agree .. it was a heavy sigh and a shoulder shrug moment.
It’s a sad day when Solihull Moors at home in the cup is a tough draw..
Cant disagree with that either …how times have changed.
In hindsight its pretty obvious Hilton was and probably will continue to be a professional conman and frauster , put zero money into the club and robbed what ever he could along the way lie after lie before being exposed, i hope more comes out about this crook and at some point he gets his fingers burnt.

SOUTHGATE OUT ..WALOFS
IMO not a great draw , SM are going well in the NL so a tough game and they wont bring many fans to boost the attendance all it will do is act as a bench mark to see currently how good or bad we really are… this has got a draw written all over it at GP so are there replays in this competition or direct to pens ?
Would have liked Oldham at GP
Chesterfield or Macc away. Both good days out.
Not Nuneaton away ??? ..
Oldham at home be a decent turnout and winnable… find out very soon
Scunny are ball 13 in the draw .. and the third round is split North n Sarf.
So who do you fancy in the next round ..a home tie please…
Had to chuckle as the Cods had the pleasure of Mr Wishart commentating yesterday at FGR .. lots of comments on fishy re just how bad a commentator he is constantly getting names and info wrong and not keeping up with play .. personally i thought the guy Ollie did a decent job .. sadly as previously mentioned HR are always late to go live which is very annoying missing the pre match team sheet, walk out and even kick off .
FA Vase draw tomorrow , a home fixture would be nice though i see Nuneaton won yesterday and a possible tie away against them would stir a few memories.
Mr Herbert does seem to have the knack of attaching himself to the SUFC hierarchy .. he was Hiltons mouth piece and now sucking up to the new owners…lets hope Miichelle and Co including Simon Elliot will see the light and politely drop the loon as is will surely become a liability in the future the way he likes to gob off.
Back on topic .. obviously fantastic news but was hoping for more details re the purchase of GP, maybe after its over the line a full explanation will be given… also hoping this news gives all at the club a huge boost including the players knowing the Gainsboro gig isnt happening and they will be plying their trade in one of the best little grounds in NL footy.
UTI
Be interesting the see the starting line up JD goes with tomorrow .. in his interview talk of the door knockers getting a run out … im guessing Chappo in goal , Wilson , Kelly will all start.
Possibly the 3 Gloucester tickets were for Triple H …. Herbert Hilton n Hardy ..
Brilliant news ..
IMO .. be nice to have a cup run and any prize money most welcome alas i think this fixture has dropped at a bad time it would have been way better to have had another home or away NLN fixture to get 3 points and feed off the reaction from the poor KL showing, trusting JD can get a reaction from the players after such a lackluster performance.
I think Barrows Clunan and Denton all played for KL in the past .. Barrows left KL to go to Altrincham from whom Scunny bought him
