Nice to see Foden played in his correct position and running the show, Walker been excellent playing high up the pitch with Saka, just hope we keep it going and when we need to change it Gareth subs in plenty of time.

Interesting debate promoted by JI pity his nemesis tries to hijack it with waffle as per norm, anybody else got any take on Joe and Don being replaced?, would make a refreshing change all round IMO.

Would be good for America if both pulled out because a younger candidate with fresher ideas would be better for both parties IMO. Sadly can’t see it happening but a good choice for Democrat would be Gavin Newsom, great debater full of good ideas and would certainly galvanize the country if elected. For the GOP, well not sure but there must be plenty of young contenders, maybe Nikki Haley who would deal in actual policy when speaking to the American public and not just conspiracy theories.

I’m sure some consumption of alcohol is probably the reason ironfromafar gets a little carried away regarding Southgate and his reign as England manager. Maybe he doesn’t get as many happy endings as he makes out, soapy or otherwise.

Crikey you know our business has been underwhelming when pie quality is the topic of conversation on the recruitment thread. Hopefully we will be serving up some ‘custard pies’ soon… to our so called trialists.

Well you could certainly stand in as Coco the Clown to do the pie throwing, based on some of your contributions so far on this forum.

Southgate will go whatever happens I believe he will have had enough after eight years and his record will stand up as being very good compared to past England managers, Sir Alf withstanding, he will go down as England’s second most successful manager of all time.

Best England performance of the tournament so far tonight the shape worked well and we played a lot further up the pitch as a result which allowed us to press them a lot more. Great game and goal from Saka but all the players deserve a pat on the back for improving as a team and certainly the 5 pens were all excellent.

Quite eye-opening tonight on Look North listening to Edward Leigh who retained his Conservative seat in Gainsborough saying he thinks the Tories should invite Farage and Reform to join them in a new coalition to oppose Labour. Are they really that desperate to cling onto the hope they can regain power next time by forging an unlikely alliance with the far right in the shape of Reform? Wonder if that includes the racist and fascist elements so strong within Farages party that he as leader is happy to embrace?, seems unbelievable but perhaps shows how far down the s**t pan the Tories have fallen.

Reform vote share is a concern and certainly reflects how far the Tories have fallen from favour, they need to reconstruct their party to provide a decent opposition at the next election to Labour. My late father spent six years of his life fighting fascism, racism and dictatorship in the forms of Hitler and Mussolini and we must never allow even a whiff of those evils to become present in our modern day politics. Congratulations to the Labour party and I wish them well in their attempts to turn this country round and provide a more prosperous fairer society for all and not just a few but the low turnout of 60% at this election reminds us all how important education about politics and government should be become part of our education curriculum in the future. We cannot give up our democratic right to vote that was fought so hard for and at a high cost by many to disappear overtime to apathy, we need to make people aware of their responsibility to vote for whoever but just to get out and vote when election time comes around.

The Labour Party will make our lives unbelievably different

I’m hoping so and not a moment too soon after 14 years of this Tory dross.

The lottery of which ref you get being another factor!

I’d settle for that Portuguese ref who took charge of Austria v Turkey the other night, more like him please absolutely outstanding compared to the dross in this country.

‘Including how Labour will force you to abandon your cats and dogs’

Result! One less dependent is just what I need. And a cuppa tea and a slice o’ cake.

They could round up all those cats and dogs and send them on a plane to Rwanda.

Maybe the same fans could offer to pay the fine if there is one.
Goes without saying they won’t get a penny out of me.

Of course you won’t but you’ll happily continue to brown nose the fans responsible for causing said fines. Your a strange guy indeed.

Well played Turkey fully deserved win tonight and what a world class save by their keeper in the final moments of the game. MOTM, the referee, absolutely first class what a great example of how to ref a football match.

Every generation of footy fans has it’s idiots and the Iron are no exception, most of the culprits will probably be laughing about it all it’s the usual case unfortunately. What’s the old saying about can’t put an old head on young shoulders, applies to every generation growing up.

Strange performance from the ref, he booked several players early to I guess stamp his authority and some were harsh yellows IMO, then ignored worse fouls later on for a card that would have seen players already booked sent off. Another reason why fans get frustrated with inconsistent referees.

Great leap by Toney with those fresh legs to set Kane up with a sitter, even Harry couldn’t miss that one unlike his earlier cock up. Poor again but we’ll take the win and hope for another miracle next game.

Being the biggest club in the division should be a good attraction to better players IMO, playing in front of bigger crowds then elsewhere in this division at the AA but ultimately money as always will be the deciding factor particularly for seasoned pros.
