What’s on this flag?
Indeed. I don’t agree it’s an unwise analogy, as you know, but we can beg to differ.
Classic Tory move; Get your Tory donor, PM loan facilitator, chair of the BBC to deflect the conversation away from the illegal, immoral, and badly designed legislation and pass the public furore onto a television pundit rather than where it truly belongs.
If it’s deflection, surely it’s a bad attempt. This puts a spotlight right on the comments in his posts and what he was responding to. I’d usually agree with the deflection angle but they didn’t engineer this, just scored a massive own goal.

Ah, I see. Okay, I get it, even though I’m very sceptical. Your call if you bow out, but seems a shame. You don’t need my respect, of course you don’t, but I’d have more respect for you if you ignored your detractors.
Even Madeley on QT last night was defending him and his right to post what he did on his personal Twitter feed. That’s how ill thought this decision is. Now, just waiting for Keown to declare he’ll never appear on any media platform again…
Shearer walking out is pleasing on two levels!

BBC have announced he’s stepping back from MotD while they review his social media output. Before this gets spun into it being about the content of that particular post, ‘let’s be clear about this…’ it’s about how he’s using his personal social media whilst being a BBC employee, not about his post that upset so many gammons.
‘It really is repugnant and to say that it’s “fair” reveals a great deal about anyone making such a claim’
Oh, the irony!!! 👍👏😆🤣
Yes, similar language used as the Nazi’s. A warning. Anyone trying to condemn him has ran off with that kernel of truth in to fantasy land as far as I’m concerned. So, I disagree with your take on it. Perfectly fine to say what he did in my opinion. Who is anyone to say he should have used another example? Pretty sure his post wasn’t attempting to find a more befitting example. He made a point, a fair one about the language being used. That’s it. In ‘free speech’ terms it’s nothing compared to frequent abuses of it by the far right.
‘Lineker’s appalling comment about the Nazis, which of course he’s entitled to make but which I’m just as entitled to comment upon. Those attempting to defend him should think very carefully about the impact such comments have on diminishing the level of atrocities committed by the Nazis on millions of people. It really is repugnant and to say that it’s “fair” reveals a great deal about anyone making such a claim.’
As soon as you mention ‘Nazi’s’ the rest of your diatribe falls down. He didn’t once mention ‘Nazi’s’. Stick to the facts and stop lying and distorting the truth. Quite ironic that you demand that people ‘should think very carefully about the impact such comments have’. What, you mean like in a holier than though condemnation of words he didn’t use? Great PR, ‘bravo!’ as the far right say to Sunak and Braverman. You must be very proud of yourselves 👏👏👏

‘It’s a bit more subtle and drastic than that.’
How so JI? As soon as you say ‘subtle’, the ‘disclaimer’ alarm bells ring.
BBC have reported an unborn baby has been killed ( murdered) in the tragedy at the Jehovah’s Witness location in Germany today.
And your point is presumably clumsily linked to the right to abortion?
Excuse me but if Gary lineker can talk about Nazi regimes, it’s ok for BPG to talk about terrorism and murder.
When did Lineker talk about Nazi regimes? Ah, yeah, That’s right, he didn’t.
Bunked off or thrown back? De-bunked anyways.
And Gary Lineker’s!
‘Bravo!’ say the far right. The only illegality’ seems to be from Tory Party, that feckless bunch of loony toons who continue to steer the UK in to dirtier filthier mud!
For the record, read Lineker’s quote again below:
‘This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s’
‘language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s’ – yes that is an absolutely fair comparison. The only people who are manipulating that quote are Tories trying to claim it’s something it isn’t (I.e. claiming he was comparing it to the Holocaust) and people who have acquiesced too easily in my opinion. The actual quote and comparison has too easily got left behind by Tory media spin. The ‘language’, the ‘language’. He’s ñot apologising, and neither should he. People should stop being conned by these horrible lot of grifters. The sooner, the better.

Scarpered out the side stand as soon as the final whistle blew so missed the bricks fortunately. 200 mile round trip for me that day. Worth every penny!
Thanks for the tip – Burns and Novak’s series on Vietnam is one of the best doc series I’ve ever seen – so I’ve got high hopes for this one. Cheers
Historians will look back on this particular period of Tory rule and declare ‘the Conservatives became so right wing, bordering on deranged, that even ex-footballers felt compelled to publicly speak out about their inhumane actions’.

‘looking for ways to stop the appalling trafficking of vulnerable people, many of whom die in appalling circumstances in the Channel,’
Don’t insult people’s intelligence Bucks – no one is fooled by that faux empathy – your Party’s appalling reputation precedes it. You really think anyone believes that lie? Auditioning for a part in the new Batman film? No audition required!
Who you trying to kid Bucks? It’s so blatantly obvious your Party are disgracefully wheeling out another dehumanising ‘solution’ in order to appeal to the selfish, bigoted racist vote in the run up to the local elections. Just as they have in the past, like when they courted the NF vote – what a lovely bunch you are. But that’s okay because your very own ‘I say what I like, and I like what I say’ Bernard Manning impersonator, Lee Anderson, apparently has an inbox flooded with views sympathetic his abhorrent ones. You must be ‘reet proud’ of that one, mate! ‘STOP THE BOATS’ on a lecturn – doesn’t that embarrass you?

It’s also totally naive to claim that all immigrants who come here are honest, hard-working individuals fleeing appalling conditions’
Who’s claiming that?
The quicker he settles on a starting 11 the better. Back 4 looks pretty set though? Much better aswell.

At the very least he should be able to establish who’s keen to play and who’s just passing the time until pay day.
I should hope so!
Get the impression he opened the pub door, shouted ‘ner ner, ner-ner ner!’ and tootled off
I trust he’s going on what he sees in training, his approach to each game, and a longer term vision for the team, rather than randomness. He’s got a lot of players to deal with and only just getting to know them mentally and physically.
Bennett looked much better second half with more support around him and Altrincham backing off from him.
‘Tend to take Mr Cox comments with a huge pinch of salt !’
Likewise, but he got a lot right I thought, judging by the footage.
But apparently the best Scunthorpe manager ever.
Sorry – ever produced by High Ridge school.Someone needs to tell Ollie how to pronounce ‘y griffiny’. Probably down to ‘The artist formerly known as…’ to break it to him.
Cox said he was ‘blowing’ in the first half
