Below the belt that awaywego. I get to games when I can but living over 100 miles away and restricted by financial, family and work pressures which inevitably mean putting family first, means I’m unable to get to anywhere near as many home games as I’d like to. Trust me, if I lived in town still, or much nearer, I’d be there every match, putting funds in from matchday tickets, spending on food and merchandise, encouraging as many friends and relatives to attend with me. It’s very frustrating not being able to do that more often, but hey, you carry on with your cheap shots mate if it tickles you.
Agreed. It’s hard for us out of towners. I have made a few this season, and I am going today, but money and other commitments make it hard to attend every home game, as I once did. I don’t claim to be the best fan and admire those who do go the extra mile to support the club. The most important thing is that the club is now united and we have owners we can trust.
Indeed. On match attendance, I personally found it much easier to attend lots more games financially 15 years ago when on more income than now. Stick cost of living crisis, particularly travel costs, and family costs and there may be just enough to visit the dentists when necessary! Having said that, I just noticed Bad Apple saying he’d bought a ticket for today even though he’s not going and viewing it as sponsorship. I like that and will do that more often.
No worries awaywego-read your post làst night after coincidentally bemoaning to a fellow supporter about wanting to get to more games. I’ll keep thinking of ways I can help the club from a distance. Hoping for another thumping win today!

I also contacted the Trust directly weeks ago offering pro bono specialist support with grants fundraising (offered Simon the same before Hilton grabbed the club), which they acknowledged, and they know where I am should they wish to enlist my help at any point in the future. Doing what I can to help. Not sure what else, as one individual, I can do tbh. If I was more wealthy I’d commit more funding myself, but I just don’t have enough disposable income I’m afraid.

Oh right. Never known the verse lyrics tbh. So what was the literal connection? ‘Houses in the song Nutbush City Limits’? Just trying to figure out what the answer would say in the virtual game, which I play most days and am invariably excellent or rubbish at!
Nice swerve NI

What? Surely the connection isn’t ‘nutbush’?

Guy Garvey during a festival 10 years ago said all the friends he was with the previous night were astounded he’d never heard this track before while they sat singing along to it. Not Red Light scale but surprising all the same.
I don’t necessarily prescribe to the animosity but I totally understand it having seen the dog whistling and the problems it caused. Too much old ground to go over here but suffice to say some humble pie and acknowledgement of past mistakes wouldn’t do him any harm.
Things have definitely changed, but you can’t turnaround the dogs mess that complete and utter t*** left within a few weeks. At least we know we have good people doing their best to put the club on a surer footing. The financial situation may not have improved much yet but there’s a better prospect of it improving under the new regime.
Really? Was said person younger than 20 years? Can’t think of any other reason.
What ‘London Lot’ CMC? SULSESC? Each to their own but never deterred me. Berkeley opening soon maybe? Now you’re talking. Stortford fan – re Awaywego’s taxi recommendation – if you have time and up for a nice 40min walk down Donny Rd, do that, and save your taxi fare for the serious uphill task after the match mate. You don’t want to be walking up that escarpment after your team have been mullered.

A cold former locomotive shed wasn’t it? With grease and engine oil covering the floor?
Often a low turnout. I’m sure they’ll be back out voting for the super rich man of the people Rishi and his circus come the next GE.
Heard that guy on R4 1pm news. Sounded very out of touch. Made me laugh though: ‘Labour didn’t win; we lost’. Yeah, whatever lad!
Caught a bit the other day. Tbh Freeman Street was never attractive but a real state now.
Stop moaning.
The return of moaning about moaning.

Surely not??
Hope you’re not so angry, you could throw the phone down? [sigh]

No way I’m submitting those scores for the prediction league. 0-1 I think
‘drive the Palestinians out by force’. Hardliners on both sides are keen on ‘driving out’ of course
Thanks for sharing. Slightly uncomfortable with the thread title. Sorry if it appears sycophantic but I’d rather Swann didn’t see content on Bru that might get his back up during this crucial negotiation period.
I take your point, to be fair to you. Caution and kid gloves are almost certainly the order of the day. However, the title wasn’t intended to indicate any smart-arse thought of ‘getting one over on him’, it was merely a comment on the need for a ‘steady away’ approach. I think if Peter Swann’s back is going to be gotten up, it will actually be because of the posts calling him a liar and a thief.
Yeah, I only said I was ‘slightly uncomfortable’ with it. Maybe a bit misplaced.

Utterly depressing watching this escalate whilst the innocent are trapped and being treated like vermin. Stating the bloody obvious I know, but it really is sickening.
Not sure how to interpret the OINST clip Siderite. Not being well versed in munitions and explosives and what I’m supposed to be looking for.

Think it’s always worth posters ŕemembering that there has indeed been many posts that have been deleted over time, that they have never seen, particularly during critical or controversial periods. By and large though, it’s a tiny proportion as far as I’m aware, and I think the majority of contributors are a credit to the forum.
Interesting read:
‘My thoughts are in UNISON’.
Excellent! The unions need all the support they can get
