Blimey. The Tories don’t have an Uxbridge to cling on to like some kind of life saver this time either. Still, I am sure they will still continue with their bone headed refusal to listen to people’s concerns and either not change or just appeal to concerns which aren’t getting them votes.
23.9% swing to Labour in Tamworth!
That’s virtually unheard of.
That must be because of they are part of the metropolitan liberal elite who don’t like Tory policy, which appeals to the true salt of the Earth common men.
Given Labour narrowing the vote, but losing, in Uxbridge was the ultimate approval that the public wanted rid of environmental measures and such, I presume this means the public want more house building, net zero etc? Or does that only apply for Tory wins?
Apparently according to one of their number the Tories lost both the by-elections because their voters did not turn out to vote and despite the low turnout, which is usual in mid term Parliments, I would say they lost because the public think they are crap at government.
Heard that guy on R4 1pm news. Sounded very out of touch. Made me laugh though: ‘Labour didn’t win; we lost’. Yeah, whatever lad!
Often a low turnout. I’m sure they’ll be back out voting for the super rich man of the people Rishi and his circus come the next GE.
It’s quite funny seeing the Tories make the same arguments and mistakes of Corbyn era Labour. The people secretly agree with them; the problem is that they’re not right wing enough. All in the hope of appealing to this salt of the Earth common man they think represents the entire country. Anyone else is a liberal elitist. Even if they still lose the general election, I think they will still have the same conclusion.
