I would say NM did a good job of stifling our attacks last night Les, ran their socks off and probably deserved more than no points. However, our fitness and quality won out in the the end. If that’s going to be the story of the season, so be it.

There will be minutes for many lesser seen from the sound of Butler, due to intensity and trying to avoid injuries. Beestin or Whitehall may be due a rest soon. Wouldn’t surprise me if the former is rested next game

I’m not living in Dreamland 414, but I do buy in to a bit of positivity breeding success (and I’m generally sceptical and critical). If I was one of the players and coaches reading some of the comments on here it really wouldn’t motivate and given the hard work they’re clearly putting in, I think a bit more positivity and appreciation is helpful and will inspire them to greater things, reach their potential etc.

On the bright side, performance wise, this is very much work in progress and we’re only 3 games in. We are playing better football than last season, overall the players look fitter, sharper and more on it. Looks like there’s still work to be done but what did people expect? Completely smash every game with free flowing fancy football? Ain’t gonna happen and might not win the league. There’s good talented players waiting in the wings (Carlton, Shrimpton etc) and the players look like they know what they’re doing and have bought in to a plan. Don’t particularly like some of the hoofball and persistent long throws (though I can see why we took that approach last night against a much small team – didn’t pay off – c’est le vie) but each game will be different. My interpretation of some of the more critical and exaggerated views is that some were never happy about Butler being made head coach, Dean getting the shove and Butterfield being released.

Thought you’d be àlong when there’s something to moan about. ‘Drop like a stone’. Such hyperbole for a less dramatic situation

Seems to be a lot loss criticism from those who attended rather than those who watched on nltv (including me). Just an observation. Not saying anyone was watching on a screen with Premier League specs on or owt…

You read and watch too much right wing conspiracy based tosh that litters the Internet IMO bpg. It’s warping reality.

It wasn’t the best and lots can be improved and worked on but ot wasn’t a horrid watch IMO, not sure anyone deserved 5/10. Maybe some things were tried that didn’t quite work, but the bottom line is it’s another 3 points and a clean sheet away to a side who defended very well and gave it a good crack.

Agree Ironawe. He was prepared to risk losing 1 point to try and gain 3.

Dean would have gone 5-4-1, dropped deep and probably lost that one.

But I hope the coaches were berating Roberts for running time down at the corner flag and whoever did that left side, instead of trying to get a second goal with 5 added to go. They were on the ropes by then and we could have sealed it without those 2 scares before the whistle

I recall NM’s three on two attack mid-second half. A fantastic piece of alertness as Whitehall thundered back to help the defence out of desperate trouble.
Hit the woodwork twice and scored a penalty. A cat’s whisker away from a hat trick. His general play was better than Saturday.
    Drop him?

He also gave the ball away cheaply too often, and almost set them up for a goal with that bodged free kick. His game needs to improve because he doesn’t seem to be quite on the same page as the rest of the team. Needs to run the channels more and create space. I wouldn’t drop him though due to goal threat

I’m not getting carried away buy I’m not overly concerned either. Plenty of room for improvement but the promise is still there. I’m confident this side will get better as the season progresses.

Yeah, can’t agree with ‘tactical mess’ but yes, less hoof ball please.

I think Needham did tire but cannily caught their breath a number of times with players staying down and just kept going.

Needham will be disappointed not to have had a point from that. Better sides would have capitalised.

Another win and clean sheet but we shouldn’t have been hanging on there. Can’t understand why we’re running it in to the corner flags on 89mins when there was bound to be 4-5mins added time. Still, we take it and move on. Despite hitting the post twice and scoring the pen, Whitehall’s first touches need to improve. Should have had someone running in to the box for Scales to pass to and shoot rather than those repeated dinks and chips far post.

Watching on the stream, zero quality on show, have to keep reminding myself it’s NLN.

Think it’s been a fairly lively and entertaining half for the level tbh.

An okay first half but need something a bit different in the last 3rd. Needham tiring and there for the taking. Will be very disappointed with one or no points from this one. If we’re going to persist with the long throw it has to be more effective.

Cruel FA. Probably cause another mental breakdown. All he ever wanted to do was make his family proud and leave a legacy. Nobody understands him.

I wouldn’t tinker around too much, and would start the same 11 unless an area of weakness in the oppositiin has been identified that could be better exploited by an alternative player. Certainly wouldn’t start Trigger yet. I’d hope the squad strength is used to make early subs (which AB doesn’t seem averse to) if necessary rather than messing about with a template.

I think this is by far the best advice I’ve seen you post WG. You’re clearly wasted on here. Forget Iron Hour. ‘Washing with Wondergoals’ would be prime time viewing.
