The football on offer tends to attract/repel the casual element of our fan base. If we are playing well it’s usually around the 3,800+ mark, if we are playing shite it’s usually around the 3k mark. Only on Tuesday nights has it really dropped to 2,500 in the depths of winter.
The self inflicted issue with Swann is that he’s alienated the hardcore, there are 600+ missing who are usually there through the good/bad times.
It’s actually quite an achievement.

Was a complete farce today, but what isn’t at the sands siro?

Absolutely gutted today. Cox threw it away and I’m fast losing patience.
We actually played some nice stuff in parts and was good seeing a striker like Scrimshaw get in the channels and into the defenders faces- they didn’t like it and he deserved the goal. Other positives were Watson who didn’t really put a foot wrong apart from a couple of dodgy kicks, deserves to keep his place. Additionally Onarisie put in a solid shift. That should’ve been the end of summary as Sutton were atrocious and completely out the game, if anything we should have pushed for a 2nd.
However, as is par for the course we cannot manage a game, too many young lads who do not have enough experience along with a manger who cannot adapt. Pugh left exposed, yet again- when will bringing in a right back FFS? And Harry Jessop looking like he’s won a competition to play league football. Complete shambles after they scored and we should have lost with their chances.
Hate to say it but we are doomed. Stick that on the wall Cox if there’s any room left.

As good as we could hope for, I think.
Now prepared to say that if we do not get too many more injuries, feel happy to plan for lower mid-table.
Interesting to see which CB goes if we go 4-4-2. (Loft for me.)
If Tyrone is fit – think Devarn might not make the 11.Still a strong chance that it will be 5-3-2 in which case the 11 virtually picks itself.
Anybody know if he has trained with the team yet?
Don’t want to be the party pooper Les, but lower mid table feels like a pipe dream at the minute.
Still think we need another
striker/winger bringing in as a minimum.A GK too If Bilson is a long term injury, any news on how long he’s out for yet?
Not seen Jessop before but I’d give him a go, Green was useless up front on Saturday which isn’t his position, granted.
Watson
Rowe
Davis
Taft
ThompsonGreen
Perry
Beestin
BunnHallam
JessopSounds like they’ve definitely took some anecdotal evidence from this board.
Still a fair summary.
The apologists will still find some way to blame it on the fans/covid though.

And covid
Didn’t put the Swindon fans off.

It was a good vocal away backing from the 400 who went. Shame it was such a low number as a first away trip of the season to Rochdale should have generated a following of 800-1000.
I think you must have been hitting the sauce hard yesterday Awayswego. There was barely a plan A, never mind a plan B
Poor game with a second half slightly better than a dreadful first half.
Formation was all over the place. No width whatsoever and lucky not to concede from the full backs being exposed. Thompson did well but Pugh is not a right back so why are we starting him there ?
Loft injured so not recognised striker on the pitch after 20 minutes which after 2 games in is a an absolute disgrace. Utter shambolic organisation from the transfer department again.
We are basically a punt it forward and hope for the best team, no creativity whatsoever and no idea on how to break a side down.
On the positives, the centre backs look up to the job in this league and Watson had a good game so fair play.
A good point, but not optimistic at all going forward.

Hate judging players before they’ve put on the shirt but bringing in young lads with little to no experience is pointless with this squad.
We need experience

We are still short of x2 striker, a winger, a right back, keeper, centre back cover.

It’s not much what the land is worth now but more so what it’s worth post Lincolnshire Lakes.

Pretty much Deerey, I found supporting the Iron 20 years ago a much more enjoyable experience. Slumming it at places like chesterfield, Doncaster, Macclesfield, etc was brilliant and what being a ‘fan’ is all about. Totally focused on supporting the 11 lads on the pitch rather than taking to social media to complain about a tatty flag or dirty seat.
Would go back to that era in a heartbeat.
You may get your wish in a couple of years.
National League don’t have any tight financial rules as fair as I’m aware?
Our budget is determined by how many fans we get through the gate, which is determined by how many games we win, which is determined by how good our players are, which is determined by our budget. All connected.
Yes there are some exceptions to the rule but not many.
Wrong.
First league game in 18 months so past results have no influence on how many should turn up. Stop trying to shift the blame onto the fans already.
To answer the question you dodged earlier- the reason so few are bothering is because they are pissed off with the current owner.
The blocked drains, ripped flags, dirty seats and a club legend like John staff having to and flog his book on donny road are just the cherry on top of this shit show.

We have a budget and Cox has to find players to fit that budget, unless of course you want the club to spend more than it can afford.
I thought everyone wanted a sustainable football club rather than someone like Swann pumping in millions?
Half clubs in National league have bigger budget than us according to the iron Bru podcast on Friday night.
What on earth are you going on about?
More to the point, why do you think so few bothered turning up today?
I’ve also never advocated for the club to spend more than it can afford and constantly criticised Swann for spending such a high % of turnover on wages; Especially when the debt incurred has cost us our ground.

Just seen Swindon had 5 players 2 weeks ago…

Thought the second half in particular was an entertaining affair, both sides creating chances even if Swindon always looked the tidier side. Certainly a vast improvement on last years showings.
We did show naivety, especially after scoring. What a stupid foul to give away.
After that it was only going one way. Green was poor today and has to improve to stay in the side.Aside from that, can’t really criticise too many individual performances, just an overall lack of quality.
Desperately need another striker and winger in as a minimum.
Biggest concern today was the home attendance. Vast swathes of empty seats and gaps on the terrace. Can’t imagine there were more than 3k home fans there. Worrying times ahead.

His attitude has always seemed to spot on but I can’t imagine having another GK come in is going to do Watson’s morale any favours. Be worth sending him out on loan for his benefit and ours with the option of being recalled.
Would have preferred the new keeper to have some experience, but I guess time will tell.
Striker is now the priority this week.
Some inexperienced youngsters in there.
I’d like to see an experienced keeper and striker added.
Both concern me too. Loft has the potential but at the minute remains an 8 goal a season striker.
Need to see someone brought in with something resembling a track record at this level.

Most optimistic thread I’ve read in 3 years on here.
Good to hear the positive reports though and fills me with some confidence going into the Swindon game.
What is Bunn’s primary position?
Good to see some attacking players finally through the door; Definitely need another striker- ideally one with a proven record at this level.
A complete shambles all round and how anyone can defend the current set up is beyond me.
Only a couple are trying Cliff and even they are almost running on empty. One of them might be along in a minute with a reason to be positive but only if we’ve signed a keeper and 3 others.
From what I’ve read I’m convinced he is a club stooge. Not that it matters.
The irony about the whole situation is if the club were at least open and honest about how poor sales how have been, and how desperate they are to turn things around, it could galvanise a few hundred diehards to purchase tickets.
As it stands we are operating like a totalitarian state.
Just under a thousand sounds about right,
Albeit still a low number. We are looking at a good proportion of games being sub 3,000 this year, even on a Saturday. Tuesday night games could see the figure drop to around 2,000.
A complete shambles all round and how anyone can defend the current set up is beyond me.
The fans’ panel is at least a start from
The club to improve supporters relations.Pleased to see this signing get over the line. Hard to gauge the standard of the Scottish leagues sometimes but the fact Northampton were after him aswell shows there’s something there.
Cover for Mason and 4th choice centre back are not priorities so we are pretty much there for a back line.
Keeper, x2 strikers, x2 wingers needed now.

Well if he’s still here he’s not a mystery man is he? Come on cough up the info.
Come along Watson!
Simply look back at the team that played Morecambe deduct those who have been released and see who is left. Elementary!
Sherlock.
There’s still Taft, O’Malley, Hippolyte and Spence left who played in that team
Thought it was one of the most revealing ‘In conversations’ we’ve had.
Main points:
Swann’s ability to handle transfer negotiations is pitiful at best and seems to totally derail our seasons when we try offering new deals.
Cox comes across as a decent coach and tried his best to motivate players that weren’t fit for purpose. Karacan had no need to blow smoke up him but certainly paints him a good light.
There’s a rotten cohort who were/are not arsed whether we get relegated or not; the fact he said it was players from
Non league leave little to the imagination.I doubt Swann has little interest in bringing him back after that interview but he’s exactly the type of character we need around the place.

Solid if not spectacular. 300 league games and The fact the codheads wanted him back offers some hope.
