Were they doggy doo or were we the dogs whatsits?
This was one where we were good rather than them being crap.
Excellent performance all round tonight and a complete contrast from Saturday. Moved the ball quicker, won the second balls in the middle and played more direct.
Midfield lost us the game on Saturday and won it today. All of them played well and Law/Smith have earned themselves another start for me. Encouraging to see the options we are starting to have available now injuries are clearing up.
Clunan looked rusty for the first 10minutes but grew into the game. His positional play is always on point.
Only thing I can moan about tonight was a slightly sub par crowd. Seemed abit flat and a few hundred down on where I expected. We need people coming down more than ever.
A good night though. UTI

1-1 3477 crowd
Looks like their danger man is Glen Taylor, a consistent 20 goal a season striker at this level.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t be fitter then the rest of the teams in this league though, I’ve not been able to tell the difference to part time
And full time as of yet.Thought it told against Darlington TBH Cliff, the last twenty minutes when Elliott and Sembie-Ferris came on, Darlo’s legs had gone, we ran them ragged and knocked in two late goals but most teams have held their own but its been when the better players have been injured and the squad doesn’t look as strong.
Fair point.
I wonder if the full time ‘advantage’ will kick in as the season progresses.
The midfield in particular were making so many forward runs and moving so quick there is no way you can expect them to play like that for 90mins- they are only human and even the best have rest periods during games.

We have 3 central strikers in Whitehall, Bennett and Elliott.
We have 2 right sided forwards in Wilson and Sembie-Ferris.
We have 2 left sided forwards in Law and Roberts. Dean was also playing Beestin there before his injury.
I really think 10 forwards is enough bordering on overkill.
Our real problem is that only one of our 10 or so midfielders seems capable of creating chances.
Apart from spells against Darlington and Scarborough we have never put teams under sustained pressure. Given our advantages over most teams in this division are our fitness levels and a higher skill level why are we not playing a high tempo passing game at all times?
Whenever we do it we look like scoring goals. A bit more Klopp and a lot less Guardiola please Jimmy.
Good points.
I thought our best spell was the first 30 minutes against South Shields. They are a good side and we completely tore them to shreds. The ball was moved about so quick and they were under constant pressure.
I know we can’t play at that tempo for 90 minutes but that performance was the benchmark for me.
Think too much is being made about the formation.
We haven’t been at the races for a while now and creating chances has become a real sticking point for this team.
We’ve looked most dangerous when we attack with pace and go direct; Beestin in particular seemed to excel with this and has been a big loss. When we go sideways it allows the opposition to set up and we really struggle to break sides down.
Off the field issues have surely played a part but I don’t want to get in the habit of finding excuses for what is a good set of footballers for this level.
Really poor today. We went with 3-5-2 and hardly created a chance from
Open play. Hard to blame the formation as we’ve struggled to break teams down for 5/6 games now.Midfield and the front 2 in particular were non-existent. I thought we’d see a response after a 2 week break and the recent takeover, but if anything it had the opposite effect.
With the amount of money some of these will be earning for the level, they have to deliver more, Jimmy Dean has to deliver more.

If information is being leaked by Spennymoor then it’s not the fault of the club.
The national league want to hang their heads in shame over this. This scenario was always happening this season since the agreement with Swann fell through in May.
October 17, 2023 at 3:04 pm in reply to: Traditional football message boards Vs Facebook groups #275487In fairness the Facebook group has at least become readable for the past few weeks- in the dying embers of the Hilton reign it really was toxic cesspit.
When moderated correctly, The anonymity of message boards does create decent discussion as it doesn’t often get personal and people can air their true opinions- none more so in recent months where a certain narrative could have resulted in personal attacks or worse
I personally wouldn’t hand over any money until it’s confirmed by our club

No home ground
Club’s currently insolvent
Debts incurred which no one seems to know the true figure.Everyone on here appears to be fully behind the new owners but we are in a very precarious position.

No tickets online for future games.
We still have a HUGE fight on our hands to both secure the club & the ground; I think the excitement of the takeover has led some into a false sense of security.
In regards to future home games, I would hope the league would offer us some flexibility since they were aware of the mess at the start of the season.

Does anyone even have the accurate price what Swan is asking for GP .. be a handy starting point knowing what the target is.
I would hope the Council and many Scunthorpe based businesses would come on board and every avenue checked re grants etc.£3million was the figure quoted previously
All I’m saying it’s a huge ask of a town with not much in the way of disposable income. Additionally the money people already willing to help will be holding back the tide trying to keep the club afloat. Crowdfunding seems highly unlikely IMO.
The community ownership fund is interesting, can anyone shed more light on that?
Feels like we have a war on 2 fronts trying to keep the club afloat and now raising money for the ground. I don’t know if there is enough financial clout in the town to be able to keep both.
Credit to the trust for their role in activating the ACV, it gives us a fighting chance at least.

Nearly every word I’ve heard about Michelle Harness is positive- the word integrity keeps cropping up. This will buy her time with local businesses owed their money and give some wiggle room for repayment plans to be put in place.
The real challenge will be getting the ground off Swann- which is no mean feat. Additionally, good will will only take her so far and the consortium will need to be pumping in hundreds of thousands to get us out this mess for the short term.
We aren’t out of the woods by any stretch, but hopefully we are now finally heading in the right direction.

Tickets go straight to your email. Can’t see a problem as long as you keep your head down.
I am a big fan of Scales. Would be surprised if he didn’t play league football in the coming years.

Would’ve loved to see Butterfield playing with higher quality players; no offence intended to our squad but you can see in footballing terms he’s on another wave length.
The turning point was the banning of the 3 supporters, although I’m reasonably confident that this was orchestrated between Hilton and Herbert to hasten his exit.
Football supporters are almost cult like in their devotion to players/managers and perhaps more worryingly, owners. Despite not one traceable of source of income, unpaid wages, an open Ponzi scheme, Wham still had a majority of support across
The fanbase.Astonishingly, he still had a ‘thank you Dave’ thread on Facebook active last week. People will choose what they want to believe, casting aside logic and objectivity.

We’ve got a proven goal scorer in Elliot, unfortunately he’s getting lost out on the left side.
I hope watching the game from home, and a couple of weeks rest and recovery will give Jimmy time to make some slight adjustments.
We aren’t a million away away and fortunately only 2 points of top, but you’re correct MK, we aren’t creating enough at the moment

A special day that will live long in the memory.
I apologise to those that missed the Unity walk as it left early. The crowd was far larger than anticipated and began moving together before the scheduled depart time.
Doncaster road was a sea of claret and blue. It really was a sight to behold. Noise, colour, laugher; young and old mixing together, just how it should be without a hint of trouble.
Many thanks to the Iron Trust, humberside police and the club for giving their blessing and support. Along with the Iron hour podcast and Iron bru for promoting it and playing a pivotal role in unifying the fanbase.
We’ll be back bickering about the catering and formations next week. But today was a good day, a special day.
United we stand, forever and always.

Scrappy performance, much improvement to be made. Little did it matter today, 3 points and a superb atmosphere.
Not seen so many smiles on faces in a long time, almost felt like an end of season promotion party.
We’ve got our club back, now we need our ground.

Iron 1-2 Brackley
Att: 5,288
I have a family member who bought into the scheme. They were fully aware of the risks and have accepted their loss and will continue to buy season tickets in the future to support the new board.
I understand not everyone will be able to afford that and as 64 states, delicacy and common sense will be needed on both sides
Sounds like there is plenty more to come out. People are now choosing to ignore the damage he’s done which is their decision. However, He’s finally gone and that’s a win for everyone who cares about the club.
I echo the thanks to IB. You certainly have an axe to grind with Hilton and I hope you continue to shine a light on the misery he causes elsewhere.

Yes mate. Was some uncertainty but it’s received the blessing of the club.
Be good to see you down there MK along with others on here
Delighted with the news. Feels like the club is finally in the hands of the community. A good day.
