Chairwoman just been on radio said dodgy d never paid any bills.
Rightly so too.
Over to you Dave
There were people questioning decision’s , there were others who access to information going on behind the scenes and foresaw what was about to come. They were few and far between though. I remember a few posters on here getting stick for questioning his motives.
His name was chanted on the terraces right up until the banning of the Iron bru 2 and Dave Green. EVEN, after all that in which he admits to planning an exit strategy, he still received support on the Cult Facebook group and throughout our support. There was even a crowd funder to help with legal fees FFS.
I’m not buying it Awayswego and I know you’re not daft enough to believe it either.
Still no explanation Dave as to why you decided to stop paying the bills
In July when your support was near universal across the fanbase. If you genuinely believe that potential adverse supporter reaction to an article was a good enough reason to stop people being able to pay their mortgages is justifiable then that’s certainly some legacy.
I suspect we both know there was an ulterior motive though.
Why did you stop payments in July when you had near universal support and a ball wasn’t kicked ?
You thought some fans might turn on an article being released so decided players and bills needn’t be paid, how does that sit with you on time to reflect?
Why, when asked directly at the fans forum, did you conceal the truth when supporters when all we asked for honesty?
‘Servicing the debt’ is a meaningless concept until we know what the % is.
4% would be awesome but 14% terrifying.Outstanding debt aside… it’d be interesting to know if we are breaking even yet?
Unless the squad have agreed a 50% pay cut, or the crowds are going to double- the answer is probably no.
Certainly feels fortunate to leave with 3 points today; keeper getting MOTM says it all.
Naturally fees harsh criticising when we’ve won 7 home games in a row, but when you’re spending what we have then the expectation is there.
Team feels like it needs minor changes, whether that be personnel or formation- I don’t know. Whole build up play feels slow and teams seem comfortable defending against us.
As others have alluded to, Clunan was very poor, if he wasn’t captain he would’ve been off at half time. Whitehall had another poor game too.
Positives were obviously the win and another clean sheet. Fitz was excellent, Butterfield/Scales/Denton did well and Roberts can now hopefully finally now kick on.
3-1 Iron
Att: 3,688
Ref – four notches below the dizzy heights of average!
Inconsistency was unbelievable.
No red for the thug at the end? – 2/10.There was a period in the second half where he and the linesman near the dugout got 5/6 fairly simple decisions wrong in a row.
This included when the Southport striker beat Boyce for pace and was running on goal, Boycey shoved him over and not even a free kick was awarded.
I’m never one to jump on officials but the standard falls off a cliff once you drop down to this level.

Another completely inept refereeing performance, some of the decisions tonight were baffling.
Steady performance from us tonight. Certainly feel we could have put them under more pressure in the first half. but when we stepped up the tempo the goal felt inevitable. Job done and on to Saturday.
Was slightly disappointed with the crowd, was hoping we could start bringing a few casuals in and build on a feel good factor.

Transparency would be appreciated and respectful towards our long suffering supporters.
What is our total debt?
Are we currently breaking even on a bi-weekly basis?
If not, how much extra debt is being accrued each fortnight?I highly doubt they know themselves with the effort to secure the ground taking priority.

Suspect the problem might be him finding one that wants to pay him 1500 per week.
Therein lies the problem with most of our squad.
No offence Wondergoals, but you’re living in cloud cuckoo land if you think shifting Bennett and Pugh on loan will make a dent in our deficit.
We need some big earners off the books and that’s first teamers going.
Financially, what difference is there between the NL and the NLN?
On the field, whether we are promoted or not, I imagine the vast majority of this squad will either have to leave or have contracts renegotiated.
Remember though: there’s no gland in Glanford!
Not now Sherbert is banned, no.
Is he actually banned?
Hopefully so; Dark times when our only form of communication was through his Facebook rants alongside Wham

Should never be forgotten some of the work Matt has done to highlight our plight. Put himself out there to abuse and threats made against him- alongside many others.
Similarly, I don’t know the full details, but I suspect the Iron trust have played a significant part by listing the ground as an ACV to allow a bid to prepared.
Professional football in Scunthorpe could have easily been a thing of the past by this point, personally, I thought apathy would have seen us gone; but the community has rallied round and fought to protect the club. Terrific stuff.
A Huge obstacle overcome.
Massive thanks to Michelle, the board and everyone else involved.

The reaction has been abit extreme from a few despite the disappointing performance- that’s not a problem exclusive to Scunthorpe fans though.
I remember after the P’boro sports game stating that the sense of expectation in the ground was palpable, never really experienced that as a Scunny fan. Unfortunately for Dean, we are expected to win every game with the players he has at his disposal.
I wouldn’t want to see him cave in and try anything drastic as overall the football has been entertaining; it’s just a case of showing some flexibility in tactics and responding quicker in games. Clearly we have to set up slightly different away from home as evidenced by results.
However, I enjoy listening to his analysis after games and it’s encouraging he seems to have watched the same game as us, under Cox/Hill and co they seemed oblivious to what had unfolded in front of them.

I won’t stick the boot into Jimmy Dean but no coincidence that their manager was Curzon’s manager and he did exactly the same job on us tonight.
Dean brought Elliot on and I thought surely he’ll put him up there with Whitehall and go 442 but obviously didn’t and goes with the same formation. Truly baffling was the decision to then leave Boyce upfront to go with 2 upfront at the end.
Elliot though with that miss was shocking and if he scored that we go away with a draw. I know Dean like possession based football but they went with everybody behind the ball and we were being far too patient. Only way you dislodge them and create space is quick play and balls into the box.
Players wanted far too many touches and generally took far too long to make their minds up. Curzon Ashton game again minus the crazy weather. Dean has got the drive home that when playing against teams who set up like this that we need to play quickly and stop messing around.
Can’t disagree with that.
I thought we were out thought off the pitch and out fought on the pitch. We need to show more versatility tactically as KL’s manager has shown he has the blueprint to beat us.
Really disappointing viewing tonight; we just look like a totally different team away from home. Must improve if we are serious about challenging for the title.

Nowhere near the worst ref we’ve had. The challenge on scales was the glaring mistake, he should have walked for that.
Happy with today even if it was more solid than spectacular. Defence is tightening up, Boyce has been excellent and Barrows stepped in effortlessly. Whitehall has much improved since the Chester defeat 2 weeks ago too.
My only criticism would be it became too pedestrian at times and Clunan has to have a glance forward rather than always looking to play towards his centre backs; but that’s being picky.
4,200 crowd which is much more like it.

When will the board listen to the fans and move the away fans somewhere else and let home fans have both ends of the ground. Gloucester at the moment have sold one ticket.
Common sense really, why spread 3,500 home fans out across 4 stands rather 3? Place would look empty.
Moody also explained to someone on Twitter that the cluggy corner doesn’t have the facilities at the moment to host away fans exclusively.
The problem with our high earners, especially those not playing much is Who will realistically take the contact off our hands?
I suggested Whitehall and Ogle to be sold first as there was at least some interest from York and Oldham previously and they’ve both had relatively good seasons thus far.
I believe it’s Cal Roberts.
Not the lads fault but an astonishing amount. You soon begin to see the severity of our problem’s and why shipping out Tom Pugh will not be enough.
It isn’t necessarily what anybody wants to hear but I think the wage bill would have to halve if we are aiming for sustainability. We have one player on 10k a month in the National League North ffs.
That said, I think the board understand that huge cuts would seriously impact our chances of promotion and would likely affect attendances and matchday revenue. I reckon it is more likely we limp through to the summer and attempt to balance the books then.
Poulter is going out on loan in the coming days but I still think we could move a couple more out if we have the option of a 24hr recall. Chapman certainly one that needs some minutes.
This.
Shifting Pugh and Bennett will only be scratching the surface. If we sold Roberts, Whitehall, Ogle, Fitzsimmons, Butterfield, you’d be somewhere closer to balancing the books .
This is also why there is such an emphasis on getting supporters through the gates. The club are trying to do their bit now we introducing offers everywhere. We, as supporters, now have to do our bit and work towards bringing folk whom would not normally not bother.
Best away performance of the season tonight.
Fluid, attacking football first half, with 2 excellent strikes. Not sure how it came across on TV but The Banbury pitch was huge which seemed to be advantageous to us. Second half was more reserved but I thought we managed the game well with decent enough chances to add to the tally.
Sounds like Ogle has fractured his collar bone so that will be him out till Xmas you’d imagine, Barrows came on and looked comfortable though; he should be a more than adequate replacement.
We’ve responded in almost perfect fashion since the Chester debacle and now have a kind run of fixtures, we have a real chance to put points on the board and potentially open a gap up

Both loans to be expected, all part of tightening the belt time, frugal days ahead but we knew that anyway.
Ferris, Pugh and Bennett gone. Southport to sign carver on a perm contract and Chapman out the door with a cheap loanee coming in.
Would we need to cut back much more ?
We are making 50-70k a month in gate receipts and spending 130k (allegedly)
I presume the cuts will have to be significant
The point of the offer is not just to get a few extra on the day. They are trying to build on the message that the club needs more support at this time and the town needs to get behind the club.
Seems a great initiative to me. I would rather see ideas tried and possibly fail than no ideas at all.
You’ve hit the nail on the head.
We all know what encourages people to come along regularly, and playing at National League North level doesn’t!
Winning 6-0 & 6-1 may be a lever but that’s not going to happen every game.
Classic Catch 22. We need to be higher up the FL Pyramid to get the crowds but to get there we need better attendance now!
I’m not sure this applies tbh, we are not far off the home crowds when we were thumping sides in league one.
Many teams of a similar stature have had a renaissance in non-league and boast larger crowds than they ever did in the EFL.

You’re probably right in the respect that is only a limited number of armed personnel and health workers whom will take up the offer.
However, if people with blue light cards don’t want to go, ask to use the card and distribute the tickets out. It may encourage a few hundred who normally only go casually to attend.
There’s been some good initiatives released today and it’s refreshing to see, some will work, some won’t.
I do feel the ‘hardcore’ support have a big part to play in this. We have to do our bit encouraging casuals to attend, even if it’s only a couple of times per year.
Barton, with all due respect
, who is going to want to take Chapman off our hands when he’s probably sat here on a contract he wouldn’t get in the league above ?We desperately need to trim the squad and that’s going to mean some of the better players leaving as not only will they be on the biggest wages, they will be easier to sell.
Promotion would be nice but it’s not the priority for me. How many winding up orders is it going to take before we realise we must become sustainable.
The tv money distributed between NL and NLN must be minimal, what are we risking our future for?
1 user thanked author for this post.
Fair point.
My thinking was Whitehall’s goals this year in particular may persuade a team who can afford the wages to take him on.
Wasn’t York in for him recently ?
