There could be stooges to make sure only the “right” questions are asked, maybe a hour on VAR again?

Exeter did OK out of Ollie Watkins. When was the last time we made any decent money from a sale. Certainly not from anybody scouted by the current set up.

Canny lot Scunny fans – if they pay to watch 90 minutes of rubbish they want their 90 minutes worth, unlike the Oldham fans!!
“Lesson for any chairman there to avoid an embargo by any means possible!”
It was possible by paying off the loan. Our chairman promised to do that ‘if necessary’ so he clearly thought that retaining league status wasn’t ‘necessary’. In the minority I would suggest, have any lessons been learnt by the ex-C?
Makes me concerned about the other promises – “Leave the Club in a better position than when I arrived” and “The ground will be returned to the Club”8 users thanked author for this post.
April 23, 2022 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Keith – ‘some didn’t want to play today fearing injury’ #236303Possible “don’t wants” – Hackney, Sinclair, Burns & maybe Grant & Taft. Doubtful if Jarvis, Perry & KDT were given the option of playing.
Second half commentary from Blunderside suggests the Iron have done ok, particularly the younsters.
They were wrong!!
“Beestin looked best I’ve seen him in ages.” Agree 100%
“Moore-Bilham and Gallimore were excellent.” M-B was OK, Gallimore barely seen.
“All other young uns put in a shift.” But not as footballers! Young given a roasting, Wilson looked lost.
“Rory was terrific.” Agree again.
I really wish these youngsters gave me some optimism but if we’re pinning our hopes for next season on them then we’ll be down again.Another chance to teach the kids how to handle defeat?

April 21, 2022 at 8:41 am in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236181I too am undecided about Nuttall. Lack of recent football has clearly been an issue but maybe the B&N main striker is not his best position, he doesn’t win many headers from the 80 yard ‘passes’ he gets. Could he flourish alongside a B&N?
April 20, 2022 at 6:32 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236156I wish I could get as excited about these youngsters as others do. I’ve seen nothing that makes any of them a shoe in for next season, a hint of promise from a few of them but nothing more. Sorry.

April 20, 2022 at 3:41 pm in reply to: Les – The Guy Who Attempts Optimism Until Reality Finally Kicks In. #236127Key for me is more pace and width – most if not all the players in the past 2 years have lacked both. Pace and width usually entertains brings the fans back.
I think that’s why we signed Devarn Green. He didn’t excite many, pace & width are OK but a few basic footballing skills also help. Lewis is a possible but playing him at LB won’t help his development & Sinclair occasionally showed enough, if he can add consistency. Again RWB didn’t rxactly play to his strengths.

Looks like UTI99 has only the last few years experience to draw on, should be easy enough to pick the highlights out of that.

With JGNK, accepted relegation about 3 months ago so used to it by now. Arguably better than needing to win the last game to stay up, much less stressful. Lost interest in the Moneybags league several seasons ago.

All of the above, Spurs away the coldest I’ve ever been at a football match. (I was colder one Boxing Day at Market Rasen races!!)
I’m old enough to have been at the Blackpool 6-2 (2-1 down at HT) and, I suppose, as that was the first “big game” I saw it still tops the list. From KH post match:-
“Keith Hill then reflected on Harry Bunn’s equaliser, saying: “He’s an exceptional professional, and he’s someone I’ve got a lot of time for because he’s the right type of character and person. He can guide the young players and I’m really pleased for him.”A bizarre statememt considering he’s not let him on the pitch for several weeks. Bound to get another contract then based on that opinion.

From his Wiki page…
2016–2017 Scunthorpe United 2 (0)I must have blinked!! Were they starts, can you remember?
Slightly different NI if memory serves. Vose didn’t go missing – he never appeared in the first place did he?

“Have we not got a senior player who could take over from Beestin? Something not right with him.”
Absolutely agree, he’s been well off the pace. Hill clearly doesn’t fancy Hallam, Bunn, Jarvis or KDT but, as I think Hallam is contracted for next season, he could give him a go.

Not too much emphasis on youth but how about:-
Watson
Rowe Gallimore Delaney O’Malley
Wilson Feeney Grant Lewis
Beestin NuttallWith some of Young, Poulter, Moore-Billam, Cribb to get some game time. Selection subject to fitness of course.

You are Leslie Welch and I claim my £5 prize.
2 things need to happen to set us on the right road.
1. The Club needs to be in a better position than when Mr Swann arrived, as promised.
2. The ground needs to be returned to The Club, as promised.
Anything else I’m prepared to overlook. My breath, however, is not being held.10 users thanked author for this post.
On a more positive note, it’s the better/richer teams in the NL that keep being mentioned. Surely there are some really s*** teams in there that we have a chance against. Please………. there has to be, there are aren’t there?
Could depend on who thinks they’re too good for the NL. Can’t think of anybody myself.
With the exception of Delaney, but only if there is a chance to keep him next season, there is absolutely no reason why any of the loanees should start another game in an Iron shirt. We might come up against some of them next season when, no doubt, they’ll be outstanding.

4 months too late M’Lord.
If that was the performance of a “Player of the Season” then that sums up why we are where we are!!!!!!!!
Are we going to spring into action for a change, rather than sitting back and letting teams boss us it would be nice to see us go at teams and put them on the back foot, but then again we have a lot of kids in the team and they get easily bullied
First 2 minutes against Mansfield was brilliant, can we hope for 5 minutes today?
Recent trends would suggest Tony Daws as a likely candidate.
