Is it your last post so that you don’t have to answer my question, in answer to your comment, repeated here?
“Ilkeston is a hive of activity everyday of the week”
Clearly a successful operation, can you see why plans to close GP, except on match days, caused concern among fans?
I’m not ashamed to repeat my stance on loans. If they’re not good enough to be automatic picks then we’ve chosen badly. Can’t imagine Toney, Cork, Lansbury etc being benched let alone not in the match day squad like some recent acquisitions.

If you read my post again you might see that I was using Turnbull as an example. (Anybody but JD alone or Will Swann really) But, as we’re on the subject, which players that you are sure were Turnbull’s choices are you referring to as dross?
I believe he is in rehearsal for his new acting career. He’s been cast in ‘The Invisible Man’ but it’s a non-speaking role.
If the players are sourced by (say) Turnbull and JD gets the final yes or no then I’d be happy with that. Giving him alone a free rein to select and sign …… please NOOOOO!!

“the rapidly improving Shrimpton”
Part of the problem IMO les, he passes backwards most of the time and invites pressure on our back four who often panic and lose the ball. If he were more positive, looked forward and learned to pass to our forward(s) then he’d help to put pressure on the opposition back four instead.I thought Toney was excellent, just blotted his copybook with that penalty fiasco.
Apart from Hackney none of the above are regularly performing at a much higher level than when they were here I don’t think. Certainly no Toney, Cork, Lansbury etc amongst them.5 users thanked author for this post.
What does Hackney have in common with:-
Regan Slater, George Miller, Ben Liddle, Tom Billson, Liam Thompson, Billy Fewster, Jake Leake, Luke Mathieson, George Thomas, Tyler Cordner? All are young players recently loaned to The Iron by clubs several divisions higher and rated by their parent clubs. Under various managers NONE excelled here, Leake probably the most useful. Some, but not all, clearly have ability so who is choosing these youngsters and why do they all fail to shine here?

“To summarise I want to turn up on a Saturday have a couple of pre-match pints while discussing who we think think will be starting and what the score will be with my lad, have some grub and a bovril at half time, spend the second half discussing what I would have done differently had I been the Manager with the regular faces that sit near me. And leave the ground happy that the lads on the pitch gave everything and if at all possible 3 points.”
Those were the days indeed Pat, will they ever return? Some of us are running out of time.

The manager should know better than the supporters.
Your average supporter certainly, but surely not the combined knowledge of the Iron Bru Brains Trust.
So let Dean have his chance, bring in his own players on real contracts, and see how he gets on over a longer period of time.
The worry is, as NI says above and I said earlier, that Dean’s knowledge of players is largely limited to NLN and below. Hopefully he might take some recommendations from Nelson and Turnbull (is he still around?) or we could end up with a team lacking the potential to progress.

“I hope I’m wrong but I suspect I’m not. Dean will be signing all next seasons players with a view to playing the formation everybody hates, the dreaded 4/2/3/1 “the only one he knows”
IIRC Dean came here with a reputation of playing exciting, attractive, attacking football. Tricky wingers getting plenty of crosses in the box leading to plenty of goals. What went wrong? If that’s worked for him in the past why doesn’t he try it here? Baffling.

” Evidence of the match results and team performances have shown that Jimmy Dean is clearly learning on the job, and at the expense of Scunthorpe United.”
Interesting you think that Daz, IMO he’s not showing any signs that he’s learnt anything since he’s been here. Same s**** almost every week, still thinks 4-2-3-1 is the best system for the current squad and that Pugh and Shrimpton are the MF answer.

I’m retired and don’t need any advertising, I don’t want to ‘sponsor’, I’d just like to donate to a good cause and be sure that’s where it would be going.

The Crowdfunding initiative seems to have gone quiet, as I said before, I emailed to get an idea of how the funds would be utilised before committing. An unsatisfactory reply was received so I didn’t bother. I don’t have a spare £1899 but if the Crowdfunding was guaranteed to be ring fenced for the academy I’d be happy to contribute and it might possibly encourage others too.

But we do know he was signed injured, unbelievable Jeff!!

Wouldn’t be the first recent owner to go missing on match day.
Does anyone know what (if any) coaching qualifications JD has?
Badged up to under 9’s. (Maybe?)

Not like we have a habit of signing crocks is it? Oh…hang on.
Allowing Dean the summer to sign his own players is a potential disaster. His in depth knowledge of players will be limited largely to NLN and below, how will that produce a team likely to progress? IF(?) we’re paying Rance £1500/week that would suggest to me that players might be coming here for a good payday rather than wanting to play for The Iron, which is the kind Dean wants according to what he said.
After I saw the team I thought it was set for a 4-4-2, sadly not, the same old negative mindset. Still there were improvements from Friday, there was slightly more effort and we did have a shot on target. Dean also changed the shape (too little too late – about 6 weeks too late) and I thought I saw Shrimpton pass forward 3 or 4 times (one even found a teammate) still, enough for him to win MOM, an interesting choice by the match sponsors who were …….

“a recalled O’Malley” but not Hallam. Is he injured?

Consequently he lost his job and has since failed to find another, RH excepted.
Maybe Jimmy should take note of that?2 users thanked author for this post.
He appears to lack:-
An ability to learn from his mistakes.
An ability to motivate.
Tactical nous.
Imagination and innovation.
Managerial experience at the level needed.
If he sorts himself out then he might also be able to sort the players out, but doing the same unsuccessful things over and over again won’t win over the fans or retain the owner’s support. No point getting rid now but I think your 10 games next season would have to be the limit if we don’t see signs that he can learn and adapt.5 users thanked author for this post.
He’ll have to pick some CBAs, I don’t think he’s got 11 otherwise.

The lack of effort shown on the field when we had “a chance” of staying up does not bode well for when we have virtually no chance. So it’s a no from me.

Sad to think that, should JD opt for 2 up front (seems unlikely) then it will be Carver and Elliott, neither of whom have yet scored for The Iron. Looks like our best chance of a goal will be a solo effort from Wilson or a CB surprise from a corner or free kick. This, of course, depends on us getting in Oldham’s half.

I’ve just realised that Thompson wasn’t involved on Friday and, as nobody else has mentioned it, I guess he wasn’t badly missed. Looks like him and Butterfield were identified as the worst of the CBA squad and we might find out more of them tomorrow.
