I think Roberts will likely float between wide right & central behind a front 2 depending on opponents set up & Butlers views. He’ll probably be off after 60 if we’re in front.
Rowley & Scales certs for MF, Alfie + AN Other (Probably Beck) Leaves an attack minded bench with Mo, Carlton & Wreh on there.
He will get a stunning goal out of nothing but might not be as prolific as you hope.
Wistless Wreh & Banjo Beck?
I ain’t filled with confidence.
Any news on Whitehall?Scan today said AB.
Not for me. Alfie OK as 2nd striker but not the focal point. Prefer him in MF.
New formation?
Fitz
Rose Kuoguan Boyce Denton
Carlton Roberts Federa
Wreh Beck WhitehallMight concede a few but should score at least one more.
Only lost 2-1 at Kings Lynn despite playing 90+ minutes with 10 men.
Another tough game. (AB 19/02/25)Any news on Whitehall?
He might be disappointed, the Matlock fan says that they don’t own the ground.
I must be missing something, but what’s the point of throwing money at new players when you haven’t got a cat in hells chance of being promoted this season? It doesn’t make sense.
Buying popularity? It worked here for a while.

Not yet confirmed as fact as reported:-
“The controversial Nottingham businessman, David Hilton – former owner of Scunthorpe United and one-time chairman of Ilkeston Town – is rumoured to be the unnamed backer of Matlock Town.”Not confirmed as fact, Its been mentioned on that Facebook page he is there and making decisions.
Some of you really love the sound of your own voice
Ah well, if it’s on Facebook then it must be a fact. I’d forgotten that.
Surely you have to look at net gain versus net cost before dismissing a position as unnecessary?

Is it raining out your way?

If it is WHAM, then passing this test again after what happened here will need serious questions asking about the system. Unbelievable Jeff!!
Similar situation for Beck & Elliott IMO, failed to play to their strengths in both cases.

Time yet to sort the thoroughbreds from the donkeys?

Absolutely 64, many/most of the opposition players will be putting in 30+ hours Monday to Friday doing a proper job. Schedule should work in our favour.

Might have been more if Nicholson hadn’t gone, every defender we have got on.

Wide players – Rfooter on the right, Lfooter on the left = crosses for big man
Rfooter on the left, L footer on the right = cut in and shoot
Will Cal & Mo switch at any time and give Beck a chance?I think Butler said that Boycie’s suspension doesn’t start until after today.
If Beck doesn’t start when Whitehall is unavailable then questions will rightly be asked about his signing. Having said that a front 3 of Roberts, Beestin & Fadera might work.Too early for that surely, AWG, after a handful of NLN games.
I hope so. Carlton’s completely fell out of favour. I wonder if he’s to sign along with the RB Butler said is joining after spending last 5 weeks on trial ?
After Tuesdays match Butler said the RB deal would be done “tomorrow”. Both parties have had 5 weeks to sort this out, are one or both not sure it’s right?
“Boston United winger Sam Osborne has departed the Jakemans Community Stadium by mutual consent. The 26-year-old, who scored five goals in 26 appearances, is poised to sign for a club in National League North.”
Any connection?

New manager appointed.
February 12, 2025 at 10:33 am in reply to: Butler interview post-Curzon Ashton (and in recent weeks) #298830For me the big turning point was when he began to learn. He had success with his preferred system initially and seemed determined to stick with it when it stopped working. He was totally inflexible at that time and dug his heels in in response to (valid) criticism. At some point, for whatever reason, he realised that there were other ways to play football. We now have a starting line up that better suits the players, together with a willingness and ability to change that as necessary. He’s far from the finished article but if he continues to learn he could get there.

No, it would take 5 or 6 games before we stopped lumping it upfield expecting to win headers.
Stop sitting on the fence!! Do you rate him or not?
Rene for ‘best thread title of the year’ award btw. Total BS that festival goers want a muddy field mind. Nothing could be further from the truth
Unlikely to be pipped for “longest” thread of the year title but a nailed on certainty for longest OP of the year (decade/century)

CEOs idea?
Presumably a 2 year contract can be offered with each “year” being 44 weeks leaving time for the fruit picking and a holiday. Still need to sort play off provisions though, 46 weeks might do it.
